  • I have a 8gb ddr3 stick of ram, could I run it with this as its 1.5v and a different brand

    • +4

It may work with some chances of BSOD, so i will only recommend use same brand and voltage to avoid potential trouble.

      • Is the 1.35v ram able to run on old MB (mine is x38) only support 1.5v.

        • It should be ok.

      • Never had any issues with mixing different brand RAM. Only need to make sure specs meet 100%.

        • +1

Mixed RAM modules will work 99.9% of the time. The 0.1% exception is if you overclock the modules. There are multiple settings beside the familiar Freq-CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-CMD, and supposedly a RAM kit matches them. For example, in the ASUS Rampage V Extreme BIOS there are another 93 RAM settings. Tweaking these settings will make any RAM module work with any other… eventually.

Here is an explanation by an ASUS tech head.

  • Still haven't received my DDR4 from last Ebay deal, might jump into this as price is better ($59 vs $65)

    • Didn't click and collect from Woolworths for the voucher? Mine turned up with a couple of days.

  • How about a deal on SODIMM RAM? Preferably 8GB, DDR3, 1600mhz…

    • +1

sorry mate, i don't have deal for SODIMM RAM today.

      • +2

        No problems, I will wait.

  • This is really tempting.. One of my 24" monitors has some backlight bleed issues after 4 years of use, but I'm not sure it's really ready for a replacement.. But then this price comes up.. dammit!

    • +5

How about i give you another push - Samsung is the world's largest display manufacturer who usually sells at premium price and the lowest non Samsung 23.6" monitor i can find on staticice right now is $168.50 not including shipping fee

  • +5

The 31.5" display looks like a great deal until you realise that it's only 1080p - far too low for a screen of that size! (at least if you're intending on using it with a desk setup).

Thanks for sharing anyway OP, might suit others' uses.

    • +1

Been good-enough for 60inch TVs, for all these years. And they're 4x the size.

      http://www.displaywars.com/31,5-inch-16x9-vs-60-inch-16x9

      • +8

Except you don't sit 2 feet away from them and stare at pixels.

        • +1

          Who says?! :D

        • I used to use 31.5" screen 1080p as a desktop but ungraded to a 40" 1080p.
The large FOV makes the game play more immersive and more inclined to produce motion sickness :)

    • i was quite interested till i realised 1080p too. Looking for something to replace my 4 year old korean 27" 1440p.. that doesnt cost >$700.

      • Why not have a look at this: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/acer-cb280h…

I bought it earlier in the year for a similar price. Runs beautifully as far as I can tell. I use it both for gaming (either at 1080 or full 4k depending on the game) and for watching TV and movies, along with general browsing. Haven't had a problem so far.
Seems to be a good 60hz 4k monitor. Made better by the $500 price tag.

        • How is the viewing angle on that one? I wanted to get it too but wasn't sure about the TN panel. Officeworks didn't wanna turn the screen on for me to have a look either.

        • @clse945111:

Well I use it for both movies and gaming, so different angles, and I've never had a problem with it. And even if you do, it comes with a ridiculously ergonomic stand, so you can adjust it accordingly.

  • Thanks, ordered 2 DDR4 sticks.

  • +1

My N54L thanks you for its 8GB early Xmas present.

  • Hi Rep, a stupid Q, Is this RAM ($49)on the list compatible for NUC5i5RYH? Thanks.

    • +1

      Hi Winman,

It will not compatible as NUC uses SODIMM.

      Cheers
      SE

      • Any chance of promotion on the SODIMM RAM?

        • Yes - we will try on future deals

        • +1

Nice, looking forward to it. Thanks

  • Hi OP, any deals on 1440p or 4k monitors?

    • May have 4k on future deals.

  • Thank you very much Shopping Express, was going to purchase that very Samsung monitor this Saturday from somewhere else for $20 more.

  • wow cheap ddr 4..

  • Crucial 8GB DDR3 1.35V Desktop RAM

Would this work in an N40L Microserver?

    • +1

As far as I know it would work, but I think you are supposed to use ECC ram in the microservers.

  • Hey, anyone know if the 24' Samsung Monitor is any good as a second Monitor connected to a laptop for work/ watching movies on?

  • ignore…

  • +2

    RAM BAM thank you Maam.

  • Has anyone received the account credit offered in a previous SSD deal? Would make a great deal even better.

  • Samsung S24D300H 24" Full HD LED Monitor shows as $179 through deal not $159 - might want to change that.

      • Amen to that brother, Amen to that!!! The feeling of inserting more ram into your mobo's slots… It's better than intercourse!!! Just the thought of it exists me!!!

Ozbargain teir 0 - no ram no eneloops.
Ozbargain teir 1 - Some eneloops.

Do you have a special price for 8gb kit? (2x4gb)

  • No quantity limit for DDR4?

  • Rep, would the Crucial 8GB DDR3 1.35V Desktop RAM work in the HP N40L Microserver?

    • yes, it should work. N40L & N54L accepts non ECC RAM.

      • Rep, same question as "data" there, I have emailed your team from your website and was told it will not work, can you please re confirmed before I make the purchase. Thanks in advance.

      • thanks rep, bought one, hopefully this will work with the ram it orginally came with

      • Hi Rep, I received Crucial 8gb ram (2x sticks) earlier today and set it up. Unfortunately, base on your claim that this ram should work with N40L, it doesn't work. It only detects 8gb usable ram, including the boot up BIOS. Quite disappointed.

  • Hey folks,
I'm planning a workstation for 4k video editing and have been hanging back for the arrival of motherboards with Thunderbolt 3 (the one that uses the USB C type port). I believe they're the Z170 series of motherboards. I will probably stick with ASUS because I've had a good run with their mobos but I just read on their site

"while the Z170 series represents DDR4 going mainstream, there are still situations where DDR3 is preferable"

Could anyone illuminate me on that or suggest a good place to find out the answer please?
    Thanks in advance
    HaZy

  • Is this compatible with my Acer Aspire ES1-4V notebook? I ran a crucial scan "app" on it and memory required is:
    "8Gb DDR3 PC3-12800, unbuffered non-ECC, 1.35V, 1024 Meg X 64"

    Thanks

    • Sorry, we did not offer any notebook ram on this deal.

  • Any one used the Crucial 8GB DDR3 1.35V Desktop RAM with a P7P55D?
The specs look ok but the Crucial site in USA show it as not compatible.

    • +1

I gonna have to say it will work, if it doesn't send me a PM to arrange a full refund.

      cheers
      SE

      • +1

        Cheers, ordered a pair.
