$10 Hotel Offer on Expedia.com.au

281

Long time stalker first time poster!

Was just searching for my Phuket Trip and came across the $10 deal and it seems like something worth adding here

Seems it's a birthday sale with 500 rooms selling at just $10. At first I thought it would be a terrible hotel mid week although it says that it is for 4 star hotels and a Saturday night stay. The only thing is you have to search through the mobile site on the day.

10 NOVEMBER | 10 CITIES | 500 ROOMS

As this is an amazing, extra special birthday treat for our customers, we're expecting high traffic to the Expedia Mobile site and App during the promo period, from 2pm AEDT 10th November 2015 until the offer is sold out. As there is strictly limited availability for these special rooms, your $10 room won’t be confirmed until the payment has been made and you have received the booking email confirmation. If you get to the payment page, and an error message appears, the $10 room rate has sold out. Selected hotels and destinations only. Terms and Conditions Apply. Good luck!

    phuket, why not?

  • +4

Hint, click the Reminder button under the deal :)

  • What cities?

    • +1
      1. Search for selected destinations in Australia or New Zealand only

That's all we know prior to the sale starting

      • +1

Well there's 10, so if it's the top 10 visited cities in Aus and NZ maybe we can expect: SYD, MEL, BNE, PER, ADL, GC, CNS, AKL, CHC, WLG. (Note, I'm using airport codes except for GC = OOL = Gold Coast)

Travel Period: The travel dates must be between 14th November 2015 and 14th February 2016 (inclusive).

So it looks like you can book for up to three days so long as it includes a Saturday. Probably is going to be the capital cities then as usually their hotels are used mostly by business travelers during the week. So maybe from my list above swap GC & CNS with CBR & HBA.

  • I wonder if https://www.expedia.com.au/MobileHotel from a PC will work?
(perhaps with a change of User Agent)

  • fingers crossed for Auckland for the 3 nights i need in February!

    • only one night is $10

    • The fine print…

The booking must be for up to a maximum of three (3) night stay which includes a Saturday night at selected hotels and destinations. Maximum number of nights available depends on participating property.

Only one $10 room night can be booked per customer. Expedia Inc. may cancel all the bookings if more than one $10 room is booked in the same booking.

The $10 price of the booking does not include any taxes, fees, or additional charges.

Total bill for 3 nights in a 4+ star hotel might not be that cheap a deal.

      • Dang. My stay does include a Saturday but I just downloaded the app anyway and there's not much of a selection of hotels, they're all either stupidly expensive or cheap backpacker places :/

        • +1

Yes, the deal is on the 'stupidly expensive' options.

Good deal if you only want 1 night - if you are lucky enough to get 1 of the 50 rooms per hotel.

Don't forget AirBnB etc as cheaper options. I've enjoyed great deals on my travels. And check deals on OzBargain (eg AirBnB $50 off for Optus customers).

        • @Infidel: Good call, the wifey is on Optus, thanks :)

  • just be aware *****Only one $10 room night can be booked per customer. Expedia Inc. may cancel all the bookings if more than one $10 room is booked in the same booking

  • I need a night stay at Wellington end of Nov…on a Sat too! So fingers crossed it's included in the deal.

Everyone got the app ready? :) 53mins to go

  • still nothing?

  • Don't see any $10 rates…

  • +1

I got one :) actually checked at 2 minutes before and they were showing

    Cheers op!

    • where are the list of hotels?

    • howw? Where?

        1. Search within the following top destinations#:
Australia: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sunshine Coast (Mooloolaba, and Caloundra), Sydney, Perth
          New Zealand: Auckland, Queenstown

eg: rumba beach hotel, caloundra 30/1

        • does it say "total price for stay is $10" or do you have to enter in something? All of the ones in Sydney are normal price.

        • +1

shows as $10 for the night

eg: Alexandra on Pacific @ Mooloolaba 27/1 $10

  • It says available but when you check out it's "sold out" even though rooms are still available :(

    Syd
November 14-15 - Grace Hotel 4 rooms left
November 21-22 - Seasons Harbour Hotel 2 rooms left
December 26-27 - Grace Hotel 4 rooms left
January 9-10 - Seasons Harbour Hotel 4 rooms left

  • Absolutely no point negging if you missed out.
Some people have been able to book a room at $10 (including myself) - http://imgur.com/rCxTnf5

    Thanks OP for sharing!

    • +1

I actually did + it, negged it accidently on my phone while commenting.

Although in saying that, poorly maintained where rooms showing available, but when you try checkout. Says sold out

      • fair enough, I agree I found a couple of $10 deals and it then said sold out - just takes a bit of time for the $10 deal to refresh on their end I guess. with such a popular deal no doubt they cant refresh every millisecond (plus some payment/bookings take a while to go through)

    • Got a room for $10 as well at Grace Hotel too.

      Thanks OP, a great deal.

  • Same story here, excitedly clicked on $10 room in Melb (Aparthotel) only for it to be expired as soon as I clicked through for payment.. Waste of time

  • Season Harbour Plaze & Grace hotel - Sydney 26 Dec available..

    • sold out

      • +1

Only few rooms left when I looked at that :(

  • +1

I wasn't able to find anything for the dates I needed but others did so it's a positive vote from me. I'll keep an eye out for https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/218697 tomorrow hopefully something good pops up. :)

As someone who never gets anything in these time limited offers was excited to get a night at the Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide. :)

  • +1

The facebook page is getting reamed… I managed to book one $10 room for Auckland, however there is a definite glitch at a certain hotel in Adelaide - it's still showing up as 5 x rooms avail at $10 for a particular date since 2 pm, but none of these are bookable once you click through - very doubtful that these ever sold out

    • Lol just had a look at the Facebook page… Wow! So much whinge so little time!

500 rooms wasn't going to last very long across Australia and NZ!

  • just found cairns 27 feb (still available at time of posting) - did not book so someone else can have it

edit: now both rooms just sold out (hopefully an OzBargainer!)

  • I found nothing and I was in the app straight at 2pm AEDT. Guess just none available for the dates I wanted. :(

  • +2

Hey all ozbargainers, I found a couple of rooms in Queenstown and Cairns.
I booked them under different names and email addresses (these are all the left over from the $10 sales that people have missed out on while searching)

I will post the rooms that I have (3-4 in all) and you can then PM me if you would like to take them off me - I booked the rooms for Ozbargainers who missed out :)

    • Do they allow you to change names on the booking?

      • Yes - called their customer service and they said it was fine with ONE day notice at least

  • Didn't get a the dates I was after in Adelaide but managed to to get a room in Melbourne at the Hotel Windsor that I've always wanted to stay in, just have to see what is on at the theatre now!

  • Just found rooms still available in Queenstown - 5 December

Edit: 19 Dec and 7 Jan still available in Queenstown

  • Oops forgot about the daylight savings in QLD. Guess I missed out.

  • Wellington NZ not included in the deal! Boo :(

  • Expedia didn't make it easy……I must have been doing something wrong (it happens) I couldn't see anything and I was on it first thing, so it wasn't a timing thing. For those who got the deal, good work but how did you do it ????????😬

    • 10:58am WA time, checked app on date I wanted, was showing 2 hotels @ $10 each (when searching price low -> high), tried the 1 I preferred, only 1 room available, payment didn't work, went back to search and went for the 2nd hotel, all details were pretty much already loaded, went through and got the room.

I should note that by the time I'd inputted details for the first room and got rejected, would've been like 11:02am or so before I had paid for the room.
