Nice. Reminds me of the 7-11 "infinite" Diet Coke offer.

    • +1

Am I not the only one whose interested in hearing about this?

      • +2

Happened in 2012. Were you a lurker back then or didn't know about OzB at all? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/69405

        • +1

I had eight accounts, geez that was a bit of work going from store to store. One guy stuffed up one code and sent me 6 cases of diet coke.

        • That's right! Forgot about that… oh the memories!

    • +8

Far out though that offer was bloody impossible to claim half the time.

The dudes working behind the counter acted like you just slapped their mother when you tried to use one.

  • +6

    Cool!

I've always wanted to try some but never wanted to spend the money.

  • is there a charge for doing a credit check?

    • +1

$1 but free if ur with ING

      • -6

wrong, free if you are with Coles Mastercard for credit enquiry.

For ING, you need to withdraw $200 or more, if you are eligable for that offer.

        • sorry buddy but you are wrong, next time try the deal before spreading misinformation and downvoting

        • @rilebags: Source? I could not find any mentions of this. As far as I know ING don't rebate the ATM operator fee of a Balance Enquiry. I made this mistake before when I first signed up to ING to do a Balance Enquiry and I was charged by the ATM owner without getting a rebate.

          @The Land of Smeg:

I know from experience but here's more information

          http://www.ingdirect.com.au/ways-to-bank.html#ING-content-6

          In Australia:

ATMs - every ATM in Australia is free, no matter who it's operated by, when you deposit $1,000 or more per month from an external account into your Orange Everyday

EFTPOS - it's free, and when you withdraw $200 or more we'll even pay you $0.50

        • @The Land of Smeg:

          http://www.ingdirect.com.au/faq-result.html?faqid=7386

Each time you use your Visa Debit Card to make a cash withdrawal or make a balance enquiry at any ATM in Australia, we'll rebate you the ATM operator fee

As soon as you've made your withdrawal or balance enquiry, the ATM fee rebate will appear in your account instantly

Also there is no longer a $200 minimum for ATM withdrawals, that changed a couple years ago whenever the $1,000 minimum was introduced.

        • @hamza23: I think that there may be two different (but similar) deals going on with ING.

          (1) $200 or more withdrawals from ATMs are free, if you don't deposit at least $1000 per month.
          (2) All withdrawals from ATMs are free, and Balance Enquiries, if you do deposit at least $1000 per month.

I'm not depositing more than $1000 per month and I'm still getting ATM rebates for $200 or more

        • +2

ING refund ATM fees provided you have deposited $1000 or more that month.

  • Might be worth mentioning that a credit check costs around 1-2 dollars in ATM fees…

    • +2

According to this post it's free for ING Direct and Coles MasterCard holders

      • +1

The title is missing that it's free "for ING Direct / Coles MasterCard Customers"

        • Any chance you could please clarify exactly who it is free for?

        • +2

          @unity1:

Free for Coles MasterCard and ING Direct as stated there.

Balance enquiries for everyone else cost $1.

        • @hamza23: Thanks, I misread forrester's comment.

  • +15

Nice, but better off getting the SIM Card. I think they removed the free water because it tastes better than Coke Life.

    • Thanks

      • Cant you just do both in 2 separate transactions 1min apart?

    • so the water's gone? :( Much prefer that.

  • +5

Still not a good deal, Coke Life.

  • Anyone tried a card with less than $1 balance? Will it work?

    • NO. Even ING won't work as the rebate happens after the transaction.

    • It worked for me :)

Used a Prepaid Eftpos Card from cashback promotion, with $0 balance on it (used all money already)

Able to do balance check and get a voucher :)

  • With ING direct, do you need to deposit $1000 from an external bank account or can you transfer it from your savings maximiser?

    • Pretty sure it's external.

      • Is interest on your savings calculated at the lowest point per month or is it calculated daily?

        • No interest is paid on the ING Direct Orange Everyday Account. We do not know from which bank the money will be transferred to ING Direct, so we cannot answer how the interest is calculated by your other bank.

    • As per terms:

at least $1,000 from an external bank account is made to any personal ING DIRECT account in your name (excluding Living Super)

Maximiser to everyday won't count as the transfer though. Has to be external but can be to any ING account (everyday or maximiser).

      • Only issue is I don't make over $1000 a month, should I just transfer my money to another account then back in?

If interest is calculated on lowest amount in account during the month it mightn't be worth it

        • +5

Yes that will work, for example transfer $200 back and forth 5 times. Interest is calculated daily.

        • +2

@hamza23: Just wanted to back you up there hamza23.
Even better if you know somebody else with an ING account so it's instant and you both satisfy the criteria!

        • +2

          @stickyfingers:
Didn't think of that! Just did a transfer between me and my sister, cheers!

She just got an email stating that if her employer transfers $1000 in in a month she gets an extra $100?

        • @Mattwilko: Never got one of those, lucky her haha!

    • Direct deposit cash at AusPost works as well.

  • +3

Was hoping for free coke for life :(

  • +4

IMO.. I prefer the free 600ml water offer even is cheaper deal. Get water is better than drink lots of coke

  • +1

Just picked one up now, thanks OP.

What use by dates do people have on theirs? 14 Nov 2015 here, I'm wondering if that's the reason they switched from water to Coke life?

    • +1

Mines was 16th, getting rid of almost expired stock I guess.

  • +1

i live right off coles express and i get a bottle of water everyday before uni. not gonna get soft drink everyday…

    • is water still available? some comments above say water is no longer available

      • +2

Water is definitely no longer available as OP mentioned, saw it tonight on the machine myself. Maybe Coke Life will just be for a week or so due to the short dates and then they'll switch back to water (which still shows as available until Dec 16 on the website).

        • I used to go out of my way ( a little) to get a free bottle of water, but Coke Life tastes horrible to me so I guess that's it for me…

    • +3

      Mum would be so proud.

  • +3

i got excited for a second, then realised there are no coke rewards tokens on coke life bottles :(

    • +1

Exactly what I thought too. I have been trying ti avoid coke unless it's for the label.

      • i had a sinking feeling in my stomach when i saw the new colour-changing coke labels without the coke rewards logo(s) on them. but they do actually have the token code so i freaked out over nothing lol

  • -7

    Not free for ING users

  • -1

If they run out of Coke Life, can you substitute with Zero or Diet or the Normal Red one instead ? They are same price in Supermarket anyway.

    • Nope unfortunately.

  • Good for Coles Mastercard and some ING customers. Meh for the rest of the population who still has to pay $1-2 fee which makes it equal to the worth of 390ml of coke life in most people's eyes (although probably try and gouge it for $2.70 at your local store). Marketing ploy to get people to sign up to Coles Mastercard (which might be worth it if you are that desperate for coke life).

Edit: Is the max cost $1? If so still have to go out of your way but slightly good deal. Most ATMs I go to charge transaction fees of $2.50 or $2.

    • The max cost is $1 for a balance enquiry, that is set by the ATM operator. A cash withdrawal costs $2.50, that is what you are thinking of.

If you really wanted you can sign up to a no annual fee Coles Mastercard or pay a one off fee of $10 for a Coles prepaid card if you didn't want to get a credit card.

    • +1

i would've thought that ING orange everyday was the ozbargain standard-issue transaction account..

  • Price match at OfficeWorks with the offer receipt …………

  • Women dies in the US from drinking 8L's of Pepsi a day

  • Damn. I quit drinking soft drink 2 months ago, this would have been perfect haha….

    • I dare ya.

      • +2

I filled up just before so I went to the ATM and checked my balance 20 times. I'll hand the vouchers out at work.

        • You'll be like Robin Hood :)

  • what is coke life?

    • new favor, similar to 'Pepsi Next'

    • it's like thug life, only with stevia and 35% less sugar

  • +1

    It's a trap don't do it.

Their trying to give you life coke.

  • life coke will be even better.
