Probably not for everyone but a good price if someone has a big painting job to do, from the website.

Is this product for you?

When an industrial 1 Litre spray gun just isn't up to the task, this Blackridge siphon fed 10 Litre spray painting system is the only reasonable place to turn. Complete with pressure regulator, hoses, spray gun and even a gun holder built into the lid of the 10 Litre tank, this is the perfect complete package for the true professional.

How easy is it to use?

Instead of having to chase down a number of components before painting can begin, this Blackridge air spray gun comes with everything you need to get going except for a compressor, air hose and the paint itself. Paint can easily be poured into the 10 Litre tank, by simply unscrewing the four tool-less clamps on the sides of the tank, and lifting off the lid. As the spray gun stand, pressure regulator and all fittings are affixed to the lid, once removed, the tank is completely obstruction free for filling. After sealing the tank again, operating the system is very simple. A neat pressure regulator sits atop the tank, with recommended pressures listed in an easy to read instruction pamphlet. Once the desired pressure is set, simply fire up the compressor, let the paint tank pressurise, and start painting.

Where can you use it?

Purpose built for large painting jobs such as full houses, industrial buildings and large vehicles, this Blackridge spray gun and pressure regulated tank can also be used on smaller tasks too like domestic vehicles and fences, presenting huge advantages over smaller guns. Namely, instead of having to re-mix individual batches of paint, this siphon fed gun can be easily filled with as much paint as required from a single batch, ensuring even and consistent colour through the job. The gun included in this package has a large trigger, integrated hanging hook, and comes fitted with a 2.0mm nozzle. Due to the calibre of this painting equipment, a minimum air supply of 150 Litres per minute is required for use, and a belt driven compressor with a large tank is strongly recommended.

  • Anyone have any experience with this? Finally finished putting up my fence (acreage) and looking for an easy option of painting it.

    • I haven't but that is the kind of job it would be good for. Not knowing how big your acreage you would obviously need a way to be able to power the compressor to make it work.

I'm a spraypainter by trade (haven't been in the game for 20+ years though) and this looks like a pressure pot. The gun looks like a traditional suction feed. So what happens is, the air pressure from your compressor, pressurizes the pot to force the paint up into the gun, but there is air into the gun as well meaning air is used to atomize the paint.

What this does is, partially or completely dries the paint droplets on their way from the fluid tip to the substrate. Depending on the paint being used, this can cause a lot of lost/wasted paint. If you are only doing 100m of fencing then you probably wouldn't care, if you were doing 1000m of fencing you probably would, seeing as though up to 40% of the paint would be wasted in over spray. It all depends on a lot of factors, the air pressure used, the viscosity of the paint, the substrate being painted etc.
Personally, if I was painting a fence, I'd use an airless system. Hire one from a hire joint.

  • you can't fit a 10ltr paint tin in the pressure pot to save on clean up.
You can't regulate the pressure to airflow I ended up ditching the gun and bought one with a airflow adjuster.
$99 has been special price for many years now on waves.

  • I wanted to learn more about this product so poked around and found this video on SCA's website:

  • Can this Spray Gun be used to paint roof?

    • +3

Not without taking it onto the roof with you as the hose length is only 3m. And as it isn't airless it will likley piss the neighbours off when they come home and find overspray all over their houses/cars/washing etc which matches the colour of your roof.

There is a reason the roof painters use airless systems for panting rooves.
