Filemaker Pro $401 / Filemaker Advance $670 - Two For One

30

Not sure how much interest there is in this, but Filemaker is currently offering a two for one deal.

For those who don't know "FileMaker Pro is a cross-platform relational database application from FileMaker Inc., formerly Claris, a subsidiary of Apple Inc. It integrates a database engine with a graphical user interface (GUI) and security features, allowing users to modify the database by dragging new elements into layouts, screens, or forms."

  • Just use explorer and save the $$$$. ;)

Can you provide more info or a link on this database software?
A Google search of "explorer database" didn't help me find your suggested solution.

  • I've used Filemaker for years - as a basic CRM - just recording basic company contact data. Simple stuff. It's incredibly reliable - it literally never crashed.

I've recently switched to using Excel and personally I'm finding Excel much more efficient. It's uglier for sure, but there are several ways in which it's just quicker to work how I work using Excel. I've been using Excel for years again just for basic storage of data, but have recently learned several formulas and basic techniques that when applied make a big difference.

So for anyone considering using Filemaker, it is excellent, but it may be unnecessary if you can use Excel as an alternative. Also, I'm expecting to switch to the cloud at some stage so once I've perfected my Excel system, I might switch it over to Google Docs which has the benefit of being cloud based and free.

  • Used to use Filemaker all the time (even when it was non-relational).
    Great software.

  • Ya, I didn't think there would be much interest, but thought that there might be the odd person that may benefit from it.

I have used filemaker a lot on jobs I've been contracted on (employer supplied license), but am considering purchasing a personal license to keep up my development skills when not working - if I can find someone to share it with:).

    • PM you about it.

      Anyone else interested?

  • I would be very interested in sharing this with someone. Is anyone still keen?

  • I just got a reminder email that this ends in 8 days, so I thought I'd post again and see if there is any interest.
