:) I just ordered myself one… Soooo Tempted to get a second one as its such a good deal. Looks like the peeps who hop on OzBarg early in the morning will be able to snap one of these up before they are sold out.

  • I'm very tempted (for the 6 cell battery alone), but unfortunately i'm going away next week.

  • +1

Very tempted but have no idea what I would do with a netbook lying around. I have an iPhone which does what i need these days… Hmmmm…. decisions decisions…

  • Great deal, thanks for sharing! I'm more in the market for a Core 2 Solo ULV machine (missed out on the Acer 3810T from CoTD recently =/), but this is very tempting!

  • Yeah im finding it very hard not to buy a second one >_< doh

Here it says 5 hours to go - although I can't find a buy button!

      LOL

  • I wonder if it's another price error..

    From the description it reads,
We have got VERY limited stock Today for only $389

  • Nope. It's not but it did include $20 worth of delivery costs. Still cheap for that spec. But… I think I just bought the last one. Thanks vid_ghost. Now I got my dad a present :) I was like you very tempted, but then I ended up buying the last one.. :)

  • Very good deal, but I have no need for one at the moment.

  • It's back in stock at 8:19am.

  • delievery is 20.95 and should be reflected in the title

    • it's $19.95 fixed shipping

Im interested did anyone actually get these for $289 and processed?

    • I posted the deal and yes i did get one for $289 online computers sell it for $359 as a standard price! so i dont see how $289 is so unbelievable it's just a really good deal

      • Thanks - just checking as it looks as though they bumped the price back up … its a great deal and definitely a +ve from me @ 289

  • it is a pricing error — the price got changed right before my eyes: one minute it was $289. after I clicked on it to add cart, it became $389. Then I went back to the main descriptive page and it got changed to $389…

    wtf

    • +2

It's not a pricing error. They were attempting to scam you like they always do.

  • +2

Well looks like i wont be buying a second one! :) i was going to sleep on it and buy one in the morning maybe lol oh well for people who missed out onlinecomputer.com.au sell this for $359 without the extra's, not too bad of a price.

    • Cheers :)

    • Thanks, maybe update the title to incorporate words to effect of 'upped by $100, now $389)

    • -2

Not in stock though. It's "On-order"

This is probably the best deal currently floating around at this current time, that I found anyway even at $409 delivered.

  • +1

i was about to buy it as well, it was 289 when i first open the site.. did some reading first and decided to buy it after 20mins of checking reviews and specs.. all of a sudden, price went up to 389!!!

  • +2

yeah i ain't buying it for $389 when it was going to be on sale for $289

    • you should probably retract your vote then. :)

  • Just wondering. With the R620 they have on there. Does it come preloaded with Windows 7? Because that same laptop at MLN has Vista Preloaded and is only upgradable to Windows 7 by Disk.

    Thanks

  • +5

Haha, TopBuy Strikes Back. I wonder if they will offer to ship the one person who got it 3/4 of a laptop and a $5 limited voucher instead of what they bought. Now I can't wait for "Return of the TopBuy".

Either way, definitely not a bargain if they only had a couple in stock at this price. Maybe we need a new category on here - Bait 'n Switch.

    • +2

Agree, sounds like a "bait n switch" to me.

      • you should probably retract your vote then. :)

No offence vid_ghost, deal well spotted, but obviously with the wrong mob.

  • +3

    sadly not a bargain anymore

  • +2

once again they try and screw people. They should be banned from here.

    • +1

      why u still voted +ve?

  • +1

    misleading… -ve vote
    should be banneddddd

  • +3

I've decided to revoke my vote as it's very hit and miss but congratulations to those who got the bargain. Perhaps there will be a round 3, which may last more than say 20 minutes where I could snap one up.

    • +3

Nobody got the bargain, they will be getting $5 vouchers which they can use on the overpriced items they sell but not on their steal of the days.

  • I bought the EeePC S101 @ MLN 2weeks ago for 299 only. Same specs also even more beautiful!

  • Oh wasn't I pissed after reading the title of this bargain! :)

I just ordered one yesterday for my little sister.. hundred dollars cheaper, I was ready to call up and complain!

Hopefully it was a pricing error SOMEHOW.. Not sure why they'd change it half way through the deal for a limited amount of time. This is also the second time they've run the same deal & same price. Doesn't make sense..

Can we get an official response from G_Man or another rep?

  • Sounds terrible

  • Sounds like a bait 'n switch to me, too. Any chance that the title could be changed since it's all over?

    • -2

Bait 'n switch necessarily implies that Topbuy would offer a substitute item. Which in fact they have not.

      Hence the term "switch"

      • +1

Yeah, in topbuys case the switch is offering you half of what you purchased plus a $5 voucher.

  • +1

    SCAM of the day! hooray!

  • +3
    • +1

      Indeed!

After reading of TopBuy's shoddy and shady ways, all I can say is - to hell with them, b@$t@rd$

  • +4

Another typical Topbuy scam. Hey mods, how many more of these before you ban their site?

    • +2

      agree

      • +4

        Agreed.

I did see the deal last night (with no interest in purchasing) while selecting my items for a $200 odd purchase order. But guess what? Top Buy has just lost my custom on that order as I was going to place that order today. They're obviously a business who engages in shady business practices and cannot be trusted to keep their word. As far as I'm concerned, they are certain undeserving of our customer, well mine anyway.

Being a repeat offender, I am boycotting them from now on, regardless of what deal they offer!!!!

    • -4

You can't be serious.. They have offered some pretty unreal deals in the past once such deal I can think off the top of my head was the $179 22" LG Monitor to name one.

They've only been operating for a short period as well..
Compared to COTD, they're saints. :P

      • +4

I think most of us would prefer not to deal with crooks even if they gave us genuine deals once in a while.

    • +3

      agree - dodgy retailers

  • +1

    neg

  • +3

Is it just me or does TopBuy seem to attract neg votes anytime a deal is posted?

    • +1

      For good reason

  • +3

    Can't stand this retailer.

  • +3

+1 for bait & switch - dodgy, very dodgy.

  • +3

    dodgy

  • +3

Yep have to agree it seems to be a bait and switch

  • +3

yet, they have done it again!!!

  • +2

    TopBS

  • -2

I'm not so sure this was bait and switch. The unit was definitely available at $289+P/H last night when this deal was first posted, and it looked like it had been going since midday 5 Feb 2010.

For those who are suggesting bait and switch, did the pricing change from $289 to $389 during the sale period (ie before noon today (6 Feb 2010)?

    • +1

Yes. Now retract that vote :)

  • +1

    where is the MODerator?
they have close relationship with TOPBuy…???

  • +2

    TopChangeThePriceAfterYou'veAdvertisedIt continue to infuriate me.

  • +2

    No Deal

  • for sure it is a bait&switch how come you did post exactly 00.09 were you informed by topbuy just before the promotion and than after attenrion changed price.

  • Its the first time buying from them i wonder if i'll still be getting it at the $289 price point.

  • What a crock!

  • Scammers

  • I eat netbooks for freeeeeeeeeeeee

  • +1

i paid for one at 8.20am $289 + $20.95 at 8.20am. cant comment on this retailer until i get my items then i guess…this is 1st time i buy stuff from them as well…lets wait and see

  • +1

    dodgy retailer

  • So did anyone get an email confirming the $289 price if ordered before 2:30am as I got my paypal receipt just for it but not an email from them?

  • +3

I have to wonder how they stay in business after continually creating PR nightmares for themselves…

  • Beware, last time i deal with topbuy, i got a faulty monitor. when i call them up and ask for a return policy, they said it was tested so it should be my fault. very2 dodgy retailer !!! should just banned them from this site forever!!

    • What state do you live in? You do have rights in this sort of instance — the seller essentially has to rectify this situation for you. I recommend seeking out what tribunals are available for recourse. In Victoria, it's the Victorian Civil and Administration Tribunal.

  • New offer from Shopping Square A$349+postage

    Samsung N130-JA01AU 10.1" LED Netbook
    http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/news_item.php?id=92

    Are they the same?

    • postage to Adelaide is $49!!!…… (presumably hand delivered on horseback by the movie/rock star of your choosing)

    • They are same but the postage is $49 to major cities.

    • and no cooling fan

  • +1 to banning TopBuy

  • Okay.. you guys are scaring me… Let's hope I get my N130 in the mail in the next 1-2 days…

  • Ok got a email reply from top buy to say they received my payment & it is being processed, so looks like at least a few orders placed in the early am will be getting it. Will update with any further info I get or when it arrives.

  • got mine this afvo. good netbook @ great price ($298)!

  • Hi got mine too. Arrived while at work. Posting from it now. It seems quite fast. Will update the RAM to 2GB though to make it even btr.

  • Ok netbook is quite good, have all my apps on it now & deleted the rubbish stuff. Battery lasts as stated around 7hrs. Still have to change the ram to 2GB so when thats sorted it should be sweet. I see a higher capacity 3rd party battery is available on ebay so am tempted to maybe order this also as it wud prob be 10-12hrs for net usage & 14-17 for general document etc usage based on its current power consumption.

  • Absolutely awesome netbook! I got one for my sister for her birthday. She's really impressed with the quality of this unit as am I.

    Thanks Topbuy!
