    I just ordered.

I better get two, they did mention it on their website but it wasn't mentioning when actually buying it.

  • "Shipping and Handling is only $4.95 each!"

    EACH…

    • +1

  • Nice find, thanks just bought 4.

  • if i bought 3 then i ll get 6 ?

  • According to this link http://www.kingston.com/flash/dt100.asp?id=2 they are NOT Readyboost compatable for those wanting one for that purpose.

Damn cheap for 4g stick though.

    • -1

      …also Operating temperatures —32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C)
so not much use to those working in Antarctica…

  • I can't see the "get one free" bit?

    Bought 20, better get 40! :-)

Try that, I got one myself, couldn't resist! :)

Edit: I believe the link is updated everyday so if you click on it tomorrow it will be a different product.

    • It says in the description:

"Not only do all drives come with a 5 year local warranty but as a special bonus, you get 2nd 4G DataTraveler ABSOLUTELY FREE!"

So they better send 2 for each 1 ordered… didn't show two when checking out

    • It was in the product description - see pasted description below
Topbuy’s Steal of the Day starting at noon today is for brand new Kingston DataTraveler USB Drives. Not only do all drives come with a 5 year local warranty but as a special bonus, you get 2nd 4G DataTraveler ABSOLUTELY FREE!

    • wow what are you planning to do with 40 USB sticks?

      • It's a good xmas gift!

$5 is great including shipping for a 4GB too

        • cheapskate…

    • +1

Its still there, read the small print below the picture.
But is it really 4.95 shipping each like it says? So if I buy one, I then have to pay 2x$4.95, ie. shipping for the second one too? That means it would cost near $15 for 2, which isn't really that good.

      • You only get charged $4.95 shipping for the 2.

        • I tried to put 2 in my cart, and it turns to be:

Qty SKU Description Unit Price Price GST
          2 COUS-KING-TB0341 Kingston 4GB DataTraveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive $4.95 $9.90 $0.90
          Subtotal: $9.90
          Shipping: Normal Delivery Postage:
          $9.90
          Total(GST Inc): $19.80
Total GST included in this order: $1.80

It seems the postage doubled for two thumb drives.
Anyone knows how to get the 2nd for free as described on their page?

          • +1

@mily: You just ORDER ONE and you will get ANOTHER FREE.

  • I ordered but during checkout got. Syntax error /tbcart/pc/orderComplete.asp, line 1464. I got the receipt emailed so hopefully it will all work

    • the same thing happened with me. Got an error in the final step but got the confirmation email

      • yep, same error here.

  • Cart is showing $4.95 shipping each for each usb stick lol

  • Bought one unit and hoping they could give me two in one package. And this time I dumped the screen with the words: "you get 2nd 4G DataTraveler ABSOLUTELY FREE!"

    • they will just claim you 'photoshoped' it…

      • you could never win if they want to do something, just like in the paypal cashback party.

        • Chargeback on credit card then. I'm sure if enough people do it, it will succeed

          • @jiakz: Want to know how many people have done that. Would charge back do anything bad to us at all?

          • @jiakz: It seems a good chance to try the charge back thing, coz they did remove that "2nd free" after I made my order.

  • I paid with Paypal, so i'm just going to file a dispute if I don't get my 2nd USB :)

    • Paypal disputes are only valid when NOTHING is shipped.
If the wrong thing is shipped, they don't do anything.

      • No that's not case, the product just needs to be significantly different to that advertised. I think receiving one stick, when 2 were promised should meet that test. I have had a number of full and partial refunds on items that I have received that didn't meet spec.

  • HI GUYS, DON'T BE CAUGHT
I think the website means it was 9.99 each. now 4.95 so EQUAL TO BUY ONE GET ONE FREE….OK?

    • +1

no, if they do that (buying two for 9.99), it's decite/fraud/whatever, it's not the same as buy one get one free

  • me too, got Syntax error /tbcart/pc/orderComplete.asp, line 1464. wtf ????
i cant check my yahoo now so hopefully i got confirm email

  • They've removed the line "get one for free".
Looks like they will not honor the deal.
I also got the VB script error when making payment but looks like the order got through (received confirmation email & paypal email)

  • Not get one free according to description

    • thanks! i gotta start taking my own. too many scammers out there.

  • Foolish website. Do they not know the power of a ozbarginers, crasher of servers with it's massive size, boycott. Hopefully they wont be evil and ship 2 to all those who ordered.

  • +2

Didn't work, as of about 45 mins ago. Tried putting 2 into the cart about 10 minutes ago and it changes it to 25 automatically.

Boycott Topbuy for bait advertising. Very sneaky and deceitful! Obviously Topbuy cannot be trusted to keep their word, which is why I'll be refraining from making any purchases from them.

  • +1

I took a screenshot too which shows a different "time remaining"
    http://www.2shared.com/file/9998703/cd9d269d/__wwwtopbuycoma…

    • cool, now we have three different versions. I also sent them a message to remind them we made the order and paid before they change the words, and warned them if they don't honor this we would chargeback our money.

  • Buy 1 and get one FREE offer has been removed

  • Dodgy as fark. Placed an order an hour ago but got that script error. DIdn't think it went through so did another one in another browser. Looks like I did two seperate orders now that confirmed! grrrrr. They better honour the buy-one-get-one-free deal

  • Forget it guys, how do you expect them to honour the "buy 1 and get 1 free" when the offer has already been removed. I suspect they will only honour to those who ordered before the offer was removed

    • Reasonable if they do that, many people ordered the flash drive before they actually remove it.

  • Yeah, hoping to see that 2nd flash drive arrive over here as well

  • Dodgy, I hope all you guys get your 2nd drives… There is definitely no buy 1 get 1 free offer at the moment.

  • i sincerely hope so!

  • I don't like people who renege on offers. I hope you guys get your 2nd drive and make sure they honour them!

  • i ordered during the day today at work, i better get 2!!!!

    • same here.

ordered at 3:58pm. better get 2!!!

      • lol i ordered at like 1:30pm!

  • +3

I have just sent them a message.

If I don't get my two usb's I will be negative voting all their deals from now on as well as doing a charge back and complaining to the department of fair trading.

    What a scam…

  • They better honour their offer!!!

  • +2

Wow, this is such poor form. They should have removed the item, something like zero stock, then re listed it separately without the BOGOF.

By changing it behind our backs like that, they have really done themselves some damage. Like others, I intend to bring the full penalty of law on them if I don't get my free one (ordered @ 16:03:33 via paypal)

Also shouldn't the title now be changed to - "potential scam"

  • +3

As it is now no longer buy 1 get 1 free, can the title be modified to reflect this? Or at least put it somewhere in the OP post?

    • AGREE! Should update the title to refect this

  • i purchased 400+ at 4pm.

again, i hope they honour their offer…or else i m DOOMED!:)

    • lol dont like your chances. Im sure the money will be sent back to you. Good luck tho!

    • But they already removed the offer by that time…. why do this to yourself?????

  • Just found this on there site, looks like they have a loophole out.

    • This won't work.

They already took my money, they are in a legal contract to supply what a regular customer would reasonably think they would get.

DELL can get away with this as they don't take your money straight away.

  • -1

samfisher is correct…. legally they have to honour their mistake

    • Doubt it. They'll just refund the money and that'll be the end of the matter. No one's stupid enough to take this matter through the legal system over $5.

  • +1

Dodgy! They have changed their offer midway (it said available till stocks run out) or 12pm Wed) yet they still are selling stock without the freebie! Misleading indeed… Fair Trade should investigate

    • Fair trading only investigates if the cost is above a certain limit, $5 could be below the limit, someone can verify this? I might just do a charge back from Paypal if they dont send me the free stick as advertised.

      • +1

That sounds silly as I could just open a shop and scam people $4 and make millions.

  • I hope they honour the deal. At the very least I expect them to contact me whether I'd like to cancel the order before sending out just one stick. Surely they can't just simply advertise for 2 sticks but only send one out and expect us to be happy about it?

  • won't shop at this site ever now, lost me as a customer in the future.

    • im not going to make any judgements yet :P

i will see if they send 2…

  • Goodluck for those already ordered…If they don't send 2 then let boycott them. :)

    • I agree - if they don't honour the offer, we should boycott them on ozbargain and have them removed from dealdump too!!!!!!!! lol

  • I'm quite sure they will honour the 2 for 1 deal for all those users who placed the order before they made an amendment to the offer. All orders will be time stamped, so this shouldn't be difficult.

Edit: according to the email below, I am totally wrong!

    Hi Ozbargainers,

Here is the response I've recd from my query to Bottombuy (oops Topbuy.com.au) for a 2 for 1 offer placed and confirmed before they changed the web-posting:

"hi, we are really sorry that there is ONLY 1 USB drive included in today STEAL. There is NO 2nd FREE USB drive, the error was a honest mistake from a previous content. If you wish to cancel the order we can understand and we will refund the money to you immediately. Please let us know if you want to keep this order or rather cancel it. Please respond by continuing this msg. Thanks for your understanding and sorry for your trouble. Topbuy Service"

What do u all think ??

    • I can just picture their email staff having a bad day at the office tomorrow.

    • i also got this exact message. looks like they are copying and pasting.

What a stupid company, i'm never buying from them again.

      • Not buying from them again. Deleted from bookmarks

      • I'd retract your vote to send Topbuy a message, very poorly handled.

    • :(
Did you order it before or after they changed their description?

      • I've ordered before they changed the description and received the same email.

I've asked them to cancel the order.

        • Hi rocket.
I haven't got the email yet.
Did you ask them about the deal or did they just send the email after you made the order?

  • what ??? ok i will ask for refund too.. just to give them a lesson.

  • is there something we can do to punish them ?

  • Ban them from OB? :D

  • yes please mod, ban and send warning email to them :D

  • is there a way to change my positive vote to a negative?

    • Yes, go to the top of the page and click "VOTES" then retract, and reapply as a NEG.

      • Thanks Ash!!

  • Wow, what a public relations disaster for TopBuy…..this is a sure way to alienate thousands of potential customers.

On the flip side, $9.90 is on the low side for a single 4gb usb drive shipped. That said, it is certainly unremarkable and I won't be accepting it given what the offer clearly stated.

The TopBuy REP has been very active on OzBargain this year…

…I wonder if that will continue?!
