    • Got the same email, 30 minutes after I dropped by DS and was told that they couldn't "confirm my order".

  • click and collect order cancelled :(

  • Cancelled here too :(

  • Yup cancelled as well.

Received my cancellation email about 15 minutes ago :( Lucky for me it was about an hour after I picked up my order from my local store! :)

  • My order cancelled as well!

  • +1

Cancelled here too. Cancel DSE I say!

  • Got an email this afternoon:
    Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for the order you placed on the Dick Smith website yesterday.

It has come to our attention that there was a promotional pricing error affecting your transaction. For this reason, we are unable to fulfil your order.

In accordance with our website terms and conditions, we will be cancelling your order and processing a full refund for any payment made.

I am not sure their website terms and conditions?? I never want to do business with Dick Smith again. If you buy anything from Coles or Woolworths, they charges you wrong price, they 'll give you free of that good because their mistakes.

  • Paid with a WISH card. How the heck will they refund me now. Prefer not to get a dick smith branded gift card refund in return.

    • By law they must refund in the same form of payment you used.

    • I paid with wish gift cards as well, still waiting on a reply to my email.

    • I could only get them to send out a DSE gift card which I am not happy about. I guess it is similar to the form of payment.

"A seller may not insist the consumer
receive another form of remedy (such as repair or
replacement goods) or insist that the refund be
      issued as store credit."
"A consumer is generally entitled to receive any
refund in the form of their original payment. For
example, if they paid for an item with a credit card,
it is reasonable for the seller to give the consumer
      a credit card refund."

      • I don't know. If the gift card card can only be used at Dick Smith, one might argue it's no better than store credit, given that a Wish card can be used at many more places.

I don't see why if they can debit a gift card, they can't refund back to the card anyway, the same way they would for any credit or debit card.

    • Happened to me a few times. Only got DS gift cards. Worst aspect is refund has taken months on a few DS refunds.

Their usual response is you will get refund back on your card. As that's not possible with Wish Gift Cards, you need to again complain about not getting refund - they then say only DS gift Cards are possible :-( (Same problem at Woolies.)

Complained about this & they doubled the delivered card value, but orders were only for $5-10.

Have also bought through DS @ DJs with (free $20) Westield gift card & could only get DJs gift card as refund.

This time, I decided to use PayPal for the convenient refund & lose the small discount on Wish cards.

  • Mine cancelled. Kind of expected. This is always their 'FRENZY' way of doing business.

Soon they will have their 8x AAA/AA eneloop babies selling for $5 and then cancel every order the next day.

went to my local store and they knew nothing about it being cancelled. I almost got one after 20 minutes of chatting but because all click and collect orders for the bush radio have been locked down by head office they could not change the stock levels.

I told them thats not my issue take it up with head office but they wouldnt allow me to take the stock

I would of got one if the manager of the store was not there:(

The store had no notifications of the pricing error

So dont bother going into the store there is no chance you will get one

This will be the last time i shop with dick smith. They are overpriced anyway

  • Haven't got the cancellation email yet. Any one managed to pick theirs up yet.

    • I picked mine up no problem

    • Picked up mine about 10mins after I got the collection ready email. Pretty good radio for $12

  • So sorry bout it guys :( Totally sucks!
Everyone send them a blunt msg on fb

  • Damn i was going to pick mine up today after getting the confirmation email on Wed. Just say the two emails to refund because of pricing error… I still don't have my money back after the officeworks $5 cleaning stuff :(

  • +2

Got my email yesterday too. The email I received didn't even say why the order was canceled, just that it was canceled.

The incompetence that their online team displays is amazing. It wasn't just one model of radio involved but several models. And it's not as if this sort of problem is unusual for them. It's like someone turns their back for a few minutes near the price maintenance computer and a 5 year old sits down and starts clicking randomly..

Didn't even get a courtesy email from DS, just a refund notification from PayPal… A**holes

  • +1

My cancellation email actually came half a day after the click and collect confirmation. Should've picked them up earlier. :-(

  • +3

back in stock at full price

  • +2

Still waiting for my pick up email, so I can receive my cancellation email, then wait for the refund - which has taken months in my past orders cancelled like this.

    Dicked over again:-(

    • Got cancellation with no pick up email. Came in a few minutes after the HN cancellation email for $8 tooth brush :-(

  • +3

I didn't even get the ready to collect email, they just cancelled and made it sound like it was because I did not collect it!

    SlickSmith strikes again!

We should ban their crap from ozbargain, how dare they get free publicity!

BAN DICKSMITH "DEALS", WHAT A BUNCH OF CROOKS!

  • Went to the Dick Smith to pick up the order and got a surprise as they stated the order was cancelled, but couldn't give a reason. Came back to re-read this thread and now I know why!

Received no email regarding cancellation and no refund. In fact, logging into dick smith's website still shows that the order is ready for pickup.

    Very poor Dick Smith!! Dissapointed.

    • And you think the ACCC can do anything. With price errors, you are entitled to a refund, which is coming. So what more will they be able to do?

You have to frame a complaint as a possible breach of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010. Happy reading.

      • my main gripe was that I received a notification that the item was ready to collect, and then they cancelled it. I was not notified of any pricing error.

plus I am also getting a DSE giftcard that can't be used in Woolworths.

        • A totally justified gripe, but unlikely breach of the Act for the ACCC to intervene at enormous expense. Their funding has been cut. Similar story for your State's Office of Fair Trading etc.

You would first need to take that up with DS. It took months to even answer my complaint about refund as DS gift cards. They eventually doubled the equivalent value of discounted Wish cards I had used, which wasn't that much. Merchants simply have to refund in similar way to payment was made (store gift card for store gift card).

The only way to redeem the value was sell the cards or buy something with the cards & keep or sell that. I bought product & resold it at a profit, which lessened the pain of dealing with DS.

Merchants do not have to give a reason for cancelling orders, especially if their t&c (we agreed to) state that is the case. Most send a standard response (sorry you cancelled your order - here's a refund) which many here object to.

When businesses give a reason, it opens them to action against them. I took a business to court based on their stated reason for refusing me a service. If the business had just refused the service without giving a reason, I could do nothing. They settled out of court to avoid the adverse publicity.

Best of luck, but it's probably not worth wasting too much time on it, otherwise Dick is also taking that from you.

  • Went to pick up my radio after I received my email and sms ready to collect. Guy told me to get lost and I get a refund in a few days.
    Not happy with these monkeys.

I understand pricing errors but once I receive a ready to collect and drive out to the store to pick up.. Not on Jan…

  • Wrong pricing email, they're refunding! Ah well

I picked (C&C) up my $12.20 Bush radio - didn't realise others had theirs cancelled - guess I was lucky :)

Can you post your receipt plz?

when did u pick it up?

      • +1

Mine was picked up on the 18th

      • Like Zeeb, I ordered mine on the 17th about 4pm and collected about 1pm the next day from Bourke St, Melbourne

I managed to pick up mine on the third day. The radio was ready for pickup. It had canceled note with refund on the system and they could not release it for me. The guys didn't know why it was canceled. I told them I didn't cancel and want it. Twenty minutes wait on the phone with the main office. The main office also didn't have a clue why it was canceled. Eventually they told the store guy to give it to me and they will email me the receipt which I didn't object 😊.

      nice work congrats

  • Does anyone else have 'awaiting fulfillment' as their order status? I haven't received a notice to pick up or a cancellation email as of yet.

    • My account shows 'awaiting fulfillment' , despite cancellation email & refund to PayPal. Received confirmation, not pick up email.

  • I haven't received any refund yet. I'm not sure whether to keep fingers crossed that they might send me a late pick up confirmation, or contact them to find out whats going on only to be given a refund. Decisions decisions..

  • Received a $20 gift card in the mail today as a refund.

    • +1

… Would've cost them less to just give you the radio…?

    • As I posted, they send out larger amount gift card than you paid (using discounted Wish Card). So a profit, but still a less useful Dick Card.

  • Got this from NSW Fair Trading - they seem pretty toothless! wasting tax payers money…
