  • Woooow that's expensive…

    • jv,

When it comes to Quality Audio gear - you get what you pay for!

Sure there are cheap and nasty docks for $49 bucks….

      Ultimately its your call!

      ODS

      • perhaps, but i'd like to hear it first if i'm going to pay 4 times the price…

  • Do you blend the iPod with flour, or just egg whites?

    • +1

Can't you read… it says "CANT be beaten" !!!

      You therefore have to STIR….

  • Cheapest on SI is $427.10 so it's a great price. I can't comment on the sound quality but I am sure it will be good.

Come on guys. You do realise there are expensive audio products out there right? Never heard of Bose either?

    • Of course there are expensive audio products, and I'm sure everyone else is aware of that. I think the real concern is quality - do you get what you pay for in this instance, or is it just another case of veblen good?

It's being sold in the US for 180, so 199 is definitely a solid price.

      • pals,

We have plenty of lower priced ipod docks in stock - and some not that much under this price - I personally have used this, a set of H/K soundsticks, some other JBL products and Bose….

For the money - these cant be beaten, blended or stirred…. :)

  • BEWARE: This is an OLD model. If you own an iPhone, this won't work without switching off the phone functionality (airplane mode), which defeats the purpose of having a phone in the iPhone.

The new model, 400P, fully supports iPhone:
    http://www.jbl.com/EN-US/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?…

I have the smaller, but newer JBL On Stage 200ID, which is absolutely fantastic. It fully supports iPhone.

I paid $160 for the 200ID during the 2008 Black Friday Apple Store sale. It currently sells for $270, but is worth every penny: http://store.apple.com/au/product/TR492X/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

    • In that case, might just be a better option to buy the 200ID for the same price internationally -> http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JBL-On-Stage-200ID-Speaker-Dock-for-i…

      • pals,

No local warranty and no "c" tick…. but still a great unit.

        ODS.

        • I understand that there's no local warranty, and for the vast majority of people, that will never be an issue. 95% of products (that do fail) fail off the production line or live well beyond the life of the warranty (extended warranty are just gravy for retailers), and burn-in testing tends to eliminate those that fail off the line.

    • Juiced,

These are still current models in AU. From the official importers site:

      http://www.conexus.com.au/results.php?suppl=JBL+Multimedia

The 400P hasn't (and most likely wont) been released in AU.

The 200id is a great unit also - and we do have a few of the On Time version in our store - but it is physically a much smaller unit and therefore loses out on some of the "punch" of the bigger 400id unit.

On the iphone functionality - it will charge and operate - exactly as it should (including muting the music when the phone rings) but it MAY (and we tried one with an iphone 3G earlier in the week in the office) have some interference - we had NO issues. But you are correct in that it will prompt you to switch to airplane mode.

      ODS.

      • Why would you say the 400P won't be released in AU?

        • +1

So you will buy the one listed above…

        • Juiced - I say it because we have a long standing relationship with the importer.

A little birdie told me that there are no current plans to bring them in to AU.

But - who knows what will happen and if they do it will be at a significantly higher price than this…..

          • -1

@ODS: Of course the importer will tell you that… they want to dump their current stock of the OLD model first… :)
