Where are all the Woolworths Dollar scams, I mean deals?

  • 24pk Pepsi variety cans $11.04 in SA, $8.64 after bottle & cans refund :)

    • Store them like a hoarder until you have enough, then waste time and fuel to cart them across town to get your money back.

The 12000 pokies woolies has are a blight on society. I know that pokies are a tax on people who don't understand maths, but these are just the sort the people the government should be protecting.

The only reason I go to coles or woolies is to get free meat and cheese using their scanning policy. Between my local IGA and Aldi I don't miss them one bit.

      • how does said cheese and meat become free?

        • +2

If you are charged more than the shelf price for any product (up to the value of $50 per item) that item will be refunded and you keep the item.

http://anra.com.au/scanning/scanning-code - looking at this it says coles is no longer a signatory, but I have gotten refunds at coles within the last week. Check this for Coles https://www.coles.com.au/customer-service/helping-you-shop

It turns out that this happens most in the meat and deli departments when something is priced per kilo and put on "special" and the sales droids don't reprice every single item.

        • Does this really happen that often? Just so i'm clear you are stating you regularly find cases where for example a type of cheese is on special for $20 a kilo down from $25, you get charged the $25 a kilo price instead of the $20 and therefore get it free?

I am fully aware of this code and always check my receipts i have caught being over charged on the deli side of things probably less than 5 times. Where as non deli products off the shelf i would of had well over 100 occurrences of being over charged and getting the item for free.

also how do you know its going to be free before you ask for it? or you just hope for the best?

@Tippytoe: If it's got an on special yellow ticket on the shelf and each item is priced by the kilo all of those items have to be repriced, some often are not.

          Tips:-
          1) Make sure the item matches the shelf ticket. Human error in stocking the shelves is not a scanning error.
          2) I take a photo with my phone holding the item that is mispriced next to the shelf ticket, stops the store taking the ticket down and saying it never happened.
          3) The prices change every wednesday so go wednesday in the early afternoon.
          4) Always be firm but polite and have a copy of their policy with you.
          5) Take the item to the service desk after you have payed for it and tell them you have been charged more than the shelf price. Often they will try to refund the difference - tell them that you know this isn't their scanner policy.
          6) If a manager says they won't do it then smile and walk away - it's just one of their policies, not the law…

@rakerr: My freezer is full and I frequently give roasts and legs of ham away to needy families in my area. More people than you could dream are just scraping by, living until the next paycheck. When I walk into one store they mutter here comes Mr Free. My wife won't go food shopping with me any more :).

I haven't added it up but over the last year we are talking over $1000.

        • I still don't know how you can tell what price will be charged until you get to the counter/receive the deli price ticket after ordering the goods. Is there a way you can tell so you can select the exact products that will be free before ordering them? (yes or no would be great) If not it would seem you are just using your tips to increase your catch rate of freebies. If there isn't a way to know what to order so its free then statements like this "The only reason I go to coles or woolies is to get free meat and cheese using their scanning policy" are silly.

        • @rakerr: Sorry I wasn't clear - the cheese comes from the island fridges, they are priced per kilo by the deli and packaged - when they go on special they are sometimes not marked down correctly. In the last two weeks I've gotten a red wax chedder from coles and a masadam wedge from woolies.

Oh ok that makes sense, the prepackaged deli label stuff that still has the old price as they haven't bothered to relabel anything. My local coles/woolworths don't really do that. But i'll defo keep my eye out. I re-neg my silly comment. Excellent! Thanks so much for clarification.

I guess one other tip is when you find these situations make sure you take the biggest pack you can find as its only 1 for free. Also if you are shopping with your partner, one pack each.

  • Those $1 tuna tempters seem to be the norm now.

    • Best deals have been the 4 packs for $2.99 and 12 cans for $10… Forgot what that actual deal was exactly.

  • Raffaello

Isn't he one of the Ninja Turtles?

    • -1

Maybe if Raphael and Donatello found some more ooze perhaps :P

    • Nope. That's Raphael.

  • Air Tasker gift cards??? Didn't realise they existed

  • "1/2 Price All Vodafone Mobile Broadband Products*"

Good deal if this is correct. Why is there an asterisk next to this one?

  • Those Gift cards are the one that nobody buys. If they don't clear the shelves, they will sit there forever. The card bar code may be peeling off and can't be read as well.

  • Don't forget your 5% off woolies Egift cards through cashrewards to save a further 5% on everything. and 1$ cash back on all 30$ orders.

    ALSO the below from cashrewards

  • 5% off e-gift cards + 20% off xbox live = the same thing as the Microsoft discount for gift cards? Assuming i'll only be buying digital xbox games.

  • How long is the 20% off Xbox live cards go for?

  • It looks like the Xbox Live gift cards are only for the subscription; there is no discount on the Xbox Store cards. Can anyone confirm or clarify?

Edit: to clarify, using EB Games as an example, they have these options:
    - A subscription - https://ebgames.com.au/xbox360-139299-Xbox-Live-Three-Month-…
    - A $25 card to actually spend in the store - https://ebgames.com.au/xbox360-163767-Xbox-Live---25-Xbox-36…

Actually, I don't think Woolworths even has the second type of store credit do they? At least not that I could easily see when I looked in store last night. I can't find either on the online store.
