  • No free tool kit this time round……

    • +2

You're right, Dyson have just started another toolkit promo but this time it's only for the V6 Fluffy, Motorhead, and Absolute.

      http://discoverdyson.com.au/promotion/

      • -2

Damn I just bought a Motorhead a month ago, maybe I can buy this one and return it to TGG on my old receipt. After claiming.

    • How much does that tool kit worth though?

      • It's says right there in the link. $99.

    • Honestly, it isn't worth waiting another 6 months hoping there's the V6 on special for $400 + an eBay 20% off sale + the free kit promotion. If it matters to you so much you can consider buying it with the 20% discount for around $70: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dyson-919648-02-Hand-Held-Tool-At….

  • If I"m going to buy a small, light vacuum cleaner, would I bother looking at anything else?

    • In my opinion, no. We have the older DC34 Animal, and it is exactly what it says it is - a total animal.

Works incredibly well, and works just as well as our other Dyson vacuum but is obviously much more convenient for the car or small spills that don't warrant the big vacuum.

  • Hi Gang, I have the DC44 Animal, which I've had for around two years. I've tried googling my little fingers off but can't seem to find a decent comparison of it against this V6. Is it worth the upgrade? Any advice is appreciated :)

    • +1

apparently the V6 has 20% more sucking power…

      This might assist: http://www.pickvacuumcleaner.com/reviews-and-recommendations…

      • Great link. It looks like the only difference between the v6 and the v6 absolute/fluffy is the attachments.

        • Yep, pretty much. Dyson spec page also tells you this. Wondering if I should just go for it and buy attachments later.

          EDIT:

Seems you cannot buy the different heads later

        • @rorymeister:
Do they sell the attachments separately? I can't find any attachments to buy by themselves. This was my plan also, to get the fluffy head separate but it's not clear if you can or not.

        • V6 Motorhead has wider and longer head as compare to V6.

        • @meowmeowmeow:

I was just looking, mate. Appears you cannot buy the different heads separately (which makes sense).

        • +1

          @rorymeister:

You might be right, as Dyson needs a serial number in order to order the head. If you can find a friend who can give you a serial nuAmber that might do the trick.

        • @RockMeLoOn:

Might get the fluffy - $537 doesn't seem like the best price to get it for, though.

        • @RockMeLoOn: What kind of serial number? I just bought the v6 from this deal. Are you saying that once i have the serial number i can order the different heads?

        • @meowmeowmeow:

It would have to be the serial of the Absolute, Fluffy or Motorhead.

You'd need purchase date, receipt number, etc.

        • @rorymeister: So it's kind of to order a "replacement part"? That's weird. Why can't they just sell them :(

        • @meowmeowmeow:

Because the cheapest handstick motor is essentially the same as the Absolute.

They'd lose money if they let you do that (or they'd have to sell the heads for hundreds of dollars)

        • @rorymeister: Yeah i see their logic. Lucky we have a regular dyson with the normal and hard floor attachment so not a huge deal, but would be nice to get the attachments for the v6. Maybe once the hype dies down they will start selling them.

        • @meowmeowmeow: If you look at the V6 Animal "parts" page you'll see the $50 extension tube has to be ordered the same way, because it fits most of the short models it would be a cheaper way to upgrade to a stick model.

You can get the extension tube from Amazon for around US$78 delivered.

          http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J8D5XX4?psc=1&redirect=t…

        • @rorymeister:

Did you end up getting the fluffy? I got the motorhead and would be keen on getting a fluffy head for it too. We could both order replacement heads for each other?

        • @kevsta89:

          I got the Fluffy.

I'd have no use for the motorhead head as I don't have any carpet in my house. Is it possible to order more than one replacement part, or is there a limit?

I'm asking should I ever need to order one.

        • @rorymeister:

          Good question.

I had a quick look at the spare parts section on the Dyson website and it doesn't even show heads as being available for a spare part. I'd say you'd need to contact them if in need, not sure if they'd ask any questions.

Anyone here ever had to order a replacement head for their Dyson stick vac?

    • Also keen to know this. Also how does the v6 stack up to the absolute?

      • the difference between v6 and absolute will be the attachments. Absolute gets tons of extra stuff with it plus you also get a bonus kit, V6 alone has a small head (I think same or slightly bigger than DC59).

        • The Absolute also has a HEPA filter

    Hi,

Will this help me assist my son in his physics homework? Many of the problems state 'in a vacuum' but I've had little success with the old bag hoover we have had for 10+ years. $320 is a lot to spend but the TI-84 calculator alone was $150 so might as well drop a bit more coin to better his future and educate him better than I was.

    Thanks all

    • +1

Unfortunately not, it will help him in Maths though. Ask him to calculate the final price after applying all the discounts, correct answer gets the Jelly Beans!

  • Bugger, I bought it 3 days ago for $398 :(

  • I bought one two days ago for 398 from eBay using the $100 eBay credit. can I refund it ? I haven't received it yet…

    • +3

You won't get your ebay $100 voucher back.

      • Really? Why? I thought it just refund to the PayPal account.

        • Best read the T&C's before you refund.

I don't have a direct link to it sorry, but have read of this thread.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/220300

        • It refunds what you have paid, but the $100 voucher cannot be used again as you have already used it once.

        • @unco:

Thanks, so it is not worth buying another one now and return this.

I should have waited. You know their eBay store always out of stock, I thought 398 with 100 credit is a good buy. Damn.

        • +2

@wangsk: From memory you can't use the 20% ebay code and ebay voucher code at the same time anyway.

  • +1

Is it worth buying this or waiting around for Christmas deals?

    • That's what I am thinking but I guess that's the cheapest ever I have seen on OZB. I am looking ṭo buy V6 Motorhead.

    • My thoughts, too.

    • I'd pull the trigger now if you can. I can't see a good guys deal stacked with an eBay deal happening for a long time again.

WTF: These items are not available. They may have been purchased already, or the listings have expired.

    Not happy man…

    • try again

      • -5

        Tried multiple times….

Now works when I choose another store… gay Auburn store…

  • Got one thx.

  • Bought one. Thanks!

  • Damn it's been less than 10 minutes but more than 100 sold this past hour!

  • Got one. I was gonna price match with DJ's and get the $40 amex cashback, glad I waited though.

  • -1

    What I'm doing wrong?
Cashreward > Pick up at Auburn > Code > Paypal (Amex card).

    Keep on getting:
These items are not available. They may have been purchased already, or the listings have expired.

    • Try another store?

      • +1

Thanks mate… Bankstown was ok… What's wrong with Auburn… Far out…. I need to go further to pick this up!

        • Maybe they ran out of stock there? Good job securing one though, it'll be worth the extra travel!

        • could be low stock

  • Got one :) Glad that I've waited :)

  • 246 sold in the last hour now, get in quick!

Thanks OP, finally grabbed one after a couple of months of waiting.

  • I tried Chatswood collection but it then stated it's not working and come back later.

I then tried to have it posted to me & the same message… sigh

  • Still in stock!

After my 7th attempt (I was keen to not miss out!) it finally worked!

Getting it posted but will try phone them to see if I can collect it somewhere.

  • I managed to get it as well (delivered). Free collection did not work. :(

  • thanks Op,

just bought one with click and collect….
    cheers….

  • Just nabbed one. Ran into the same collection error several times. Ended up going with delivery and worked. Thanks OP.

  • Just bought one C&C, Osborne Park, WA.
When I went through the check out it took me back a few steps at one point and said that the seller had revised item or price, but wasn't obvious what the change was.. Was still same price and coupon still there so proceeded with purchase. Assume it might have been stock level changing.

    second attempt successful.

    • +1

Think they just added the 20% off coupon into the title

  • Could not order from Chadstone (VIC). Managed to get one at Moorabbin.

  • Thanks got one

  • Wow, this is a great stick ! thanks !

  • Looks like good guys pulled the listing

  • Out of Stock!

  • sold out

  • +1

    Looks like it's back?

    • yep more than 10 available

      • I guess those that want one better be quick.

        • OOS.

    • Shipping only

      • That's probably because they will ship whatever they have direct from their warehouse. Probably not enough stock left in stores

        • Probably. Managed to order another for a friend.

  • just got one

  • good price for this, Dyson V6 Motorhead Handstick $477.60?

    • +1

The direct drive carpet tool is only worth it if you're going to use this on carpets alot. Otherwise, get this. You also get less battery life from the Motohead version . Up to you if you think it's worth the extra

      • how about the free tool kit ( for motorhead)?

        • I ended up going to Motorhead over the normal V6. On paper it looks like its better and is currently cheaper than the V6 animal, plus you get the bonus free tool kit over the regular V6. I have a long hair dog so the motorhead will come in handy for me.

        • @kevsta89:
          I have the DC59 Animal.
Never used the animal head, also paid extra for the tool kit and havent used any of them. Only the standard crevice nozzle.
Not sure I`ve been better getting the animal over a standard….

        • @albanyson:
Silly question, but do you have an animal that sheds a lot of fur? This is the main reason I decided to go the V6 Motorhead as from what I can see it is a more powerful version of the V6 Animal.

        • +1

          @kevsta89:
          Not silly question.
          Same motors/body. Different attachments.
So the motors of all the models in theV6 are the same throughout.
In your instance, the motor head attachments are ideal.
I ought the animal thinking the extra (smaller head) would come in handy and be better at times.
I've tried it out at the beginning, always have used the normal floor head.

Give is an update when you get it. I'd like to hear your view.

  • Looks like it's out of stock again

  • +1

    ozbargained

    • Yep. I was refreshing the ebay page. Every refresh 1-2 sold lol

  • Thanks OP. Got the V6 Motorhead.

  • Out of stock again

  • +2

    In stock again (I think)?

  • This is still in stock for me.

  • In stock but no c&c only delivery

  • according to this video
    http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/dyson-v6-animal-handstick…

The vacuum only has 20min battery life on normal mode and 6 mins on high powered suction

    • +1

That's the Animal version so may be different. But for the standard V6 it's 20 minutes on normal and 10 minutes on max. Honestly, you shouldn't be spending more than 20 minutes vacuuming the house. Once you start using the Dyson you'll end up using it every other day instead of doing a weekly clean so it's not too hard to mange unless your house is very big.

    • +3

For small homes, it should be plenty.

If your home is large, these aren't replacemnt vacs.

They're just better brooms essentially. Spot cleaning, etc.

      • +1

        Brooms..hahahahahahahah

  • What are the chances of the store calling me saying its out of stock after I selected C&C?

    • That'd be pretty poor form by them considering they are still selling it via delivery. Hopefully they have the foresight to ensure there's enough stock for the C&C orders before selling them straight from their warehouse to these current buyers.

  • Bought one. Thanks OP
