Free Small Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Sim Card (for ING Direct / Coles MasterCard Users) @ Coles Express

870

The free coffee is back again, starting today and running until 20th Jan 2016, this time you also have the option of a free hot chocolate. There is also a third freebie for a free $2 Coles Sim Card which isn't as good but may interest some (good to use for porting out and back in, Coles use the Optus network).

The usual deal details/explanation:

You'll receive a free coffee / free hot chocolate / free sim card voucher every time you do a balance enquiry or make a withdrawal at a Coles Express ATM. The machine will prompt you at the end to choose your voucher and print it out, you can use it then or keep it for next time. You can do either a balance enquiry ($1) or a cash withdrawal ($2.50) to receive the voucher. Whilst anyone can do this, only ING Direct customers and Coles MasterCard (prepaid also) customers can do it without incurring a fee. ING Direct will refund your ATM fees for both of these ($1 & $2.50). You can also use your Coles Credit card to make a balance enquiry if you prefer which is fee free. If you have both then use the Coles MasterCard as it's quicker (no fee prompt/refund).

Reminder to receive free ATM fees you must deposit (but not keep) $1000 a month into your ING account:
"Every single ATM in Australia is FREE. Simply deposit $1,000 or more per month."

This is better than Coke Life.

  • Punch in the wrong PIN for other bank cards. will it still print out a free coffee voucher?

    • +2

That won't work, the voucher option is given after the transaction is completed (balance enquiry or cash withdrawal).

      • +3

        Bugger. I'll stick to 7/11 :)

I remember ME Bank customers can have free ATM access too now.

    • So do Bank Vic. ING is a better option overall though.

      • Coles MasterCard balance enquiry is most efficient

  • Is there a Coles Express in Melbourne CBD?

    • +2

      http://www.colesexpress.com.au/store-locator.aspx

Not really by the looks, seems the closest is 1181 Hoddle St East Melbourne, or Lygon St Carlton.

      • Yeah, I can only find a bunch of Coles Centrals :\

    • Isn't there one on Elizabeth st just near flinders st?

      • +2

That location is a Coles Central supermarket, this deal is only at Coles Express petrol stations. These ATMs aren't at normal Coles supermarkets and I believe they aren't at Coles Central either.

  • +1

Hamza23, you totally own this deal! What's the score - you work near one of these Shell/Coles express joints?

    • +1

Nah I work from home, Coles Express isn't far away though. I just keep an eye on their website for new freebies/deals, I've always liked Coles Express for some reason - seem to have interesting deals and we don't have 7/11 in SA. I was actually checking to see what new specials they had as I had a feeling the next promo period started yesterday or today and saw the new freebies on the right.

        Red Bull 250ml 4pk

        $2 each

Is that a typo? Seems cheap for 4 cans.

        • Ha yeah it's $7 for a 4pk in store, just dropped past 15 minutes ago. Not even $2 a can so not sure where they got that figure from.

They did have 500ml Mother/Monster for $2 each on clearance but that might have just been my store, not bad if you want a cold drink on the run.

@hamza23: Site has been updated and says $7 each now lol

The free Optus $10 SIM offer has expired :-(
Lucky I picked up 2 yesterday.

    • +1

Yeah for the Optus sim card it said: 'offer available on machine from 05.11.15 to 02.12.15, but redeemable until 16.12.15' if you've still got vouchers lying around.

      • I've got a couple, but the problem is finding stock. Store yesterday had 2 left.

    • I didn't realise that deal was back. Oh well I still have heaps from last time.

      • The 3 I got from last deal have expired or are about to. Already activated. I only learnt of that deal days before it finished. SIMs I got from this feal expire Dec 2016.

        • I've activated Optus SIMs successfully post the expiry date.

  • Apparently its only ever used for free coffee at my local. They know us all by name too.

    • Just like a good local coffee shop ;-)

      • +2

Except the coffee is really bad…

  • So is the coffee terrible or what?

    • +1

It's average, a bit weak. I thought the $1 7/11 coffee I tried when interstate was better.

It's free though so get one whenever I drive past.

    • +1

Differs from store to store. Some is good (enough for free).

    • Ive only ever had one and don't plan to repeat, I would say its better than a bad cup of instant coffee.

      • tryagain - better change your username then ;-)

It depends a lot on the machine & your selection. If I'm passing I might pop in, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this coffee. But it is free ;-)

  • Only free for ING customers who deposit at least $1000 monthy. Not free for all customer.

  • Hope it also works for Coles Prepaid Reloadable Master Card

Great deal…but the coffee is fully evil.
That is coming from a guy who will jump out of a moving vehicle if it goes past a 7/11 to get a $1 coffeee.
Why is woolies so hopeless and not have cheap good coffee in their gas stations?

  • I still have a couple of the $10 optus sim pack free vouchers. many colesexpress i go to say they dont have any $10 optus sim packs left and keep them hidden behind the counter. I took one voucher to a colesexpress today and lady said its a bonus voucher thus buy one get one free. not sure if staff make up their own rules or if what she was telling me was true?

Picked up last 2 at Cannon Hill, Brisbane yesterday. Doubt that store will restock now the 🏧 promo is pretty well finished.

Coles Express only stock these for ATM promo. That's why there was generally no stock at start of promo. So stores only get a small number in - around 10 at time from Optus Rep according to staff. Stores I visited restocked in last few weeks after having no stock.

Yesterday packs were on display rack in store, but other stores have them behind counter so are available only for ATM promo. So doubt your conspiracy theory of staff hiding stock, unless they know you ;-)

The promo t&c & graphic of 2 packs with word "Bonus" across both - do suggest you need to buy first to.get bonus pack. Its quite possible that is the actual promo! So not surprising staff are confused. A staff member told me Optus Rep said it was buy 1 get 1 free. I just asked him to scan pack & voucher & then gave it to me free.

  • Where exactly do we redeem the voucher? (Sydney CBD Coles Express specifically).

Also, are we allowed to redeem a couple of vouchers at once? E.g. A Hot chocolate and a coffee etc.

    • +1

You redeem it at the Coles Express counter.

It's only one voucher per customer per transaction, it depends on the store but I wouldn't bet on them accepting two at once unless you have another person with you.

  • If you like a mocha coffee, just add coffee to the hot chocolate regular cup. Best to stir the chocolate powder before or during adding liquid, otherwise it may not mix well. Replace foil.

Picked up my final $10 Optus SIM with my mocha yesterday :-)

  • I have a Coles Prepaid Gift Mastercard & tried the Balance enquiy but it still charged the $1 fee - is this correct?

  • +1

Deal expired, the new voucher is now $0.30 coffee. Image

    • ended early :( $0.30 is no deal

      • +2

Yeah they seem to be ending them early regularly, the new specials started on the 7th of Jan (until 3/2) so it seems to be in line with that. In the future best to stock up on vouchers the day before the next specials period starts I reckon, you can still claim them for a couple weeks after.

    • Looks like they stopped the deal early! (the free coffee was supposed to go until 20th Jan).
(Oops - should have refreshed my page before posting!)

      • +2

It looks like the expiry is the last time you can use the voucher.
i.e. The last vouchers are issued on the 6th but are valid for 2 weeks.

        • Yep spot on. So the last vouchers for this periods offers, eg $0.30 coffee will end on the 3/2 but are useable until the 17/2, the 3/2 coincides with the next period of special offers.

  • +1

    and $1.50 for hot choc..
