  • I applied via the promo site three days ago and haven't received an email back yet. I also emailed LG promo support to see what the progress of my claim was, but no reply from them either. Anyone else had better luck?

  • Why is it always this plans garbage on every carrier site, can never just see the retail price. You wouldn't happen to know how much each one is to buy would you?

Telstra only advertise the price of their 'pre-paid' phones online, from what I've seen.

According to this post you can get the 32gb Nexus 5x for $720
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/218724

Which isnt bad considering other retailers are higher than that:

      Harvey Norman $738
      Google Play $739
      JB Hi-Fi $747

      • Ahh sweet thanks! Yea somehow they have better pricing than even google themselves!

Yea it's horrible man, I hate plans, such rip offs!

  • How much is the phone? if its $50 more than buying through google then this is not a bargain by any means.

According to this post, Telstra is nearly $20 cheaper than Google for the 32gb Nexus 5x ($720 vs Google $739)

Don't forget that if you buy one outright going on a 12 Month Go BYO plan you get $240 off the phone.
Also just a reminder that the LG G4 H815K sold by Telstra can not be bootlpader unlocked.
And there is currently a $200 port in credit.
        And bonus data.
(i.e. you can get a Nexus 5x for $480, on a $50 Go Byo plan for 12 months, but you get $200 credit on your bill in month 2 which reduces the effective cost to $34 per month, and that gives you 7GB data a month.)

        • For anyone reading bootloader unlocking is only required if you want to change to a different ROM. These can still be rooted, just not on a different ROM.

I got sent to the local JBHiFi to sign up from Telstra who were out of stock when I bought mine on the 26th after about 7 hours on phone and chat trying to sort things out. They were in stock when I was originally there on the 25th…I ended up on the $70 phone plan with a monthly discount. So I don't know if I'm eligible and I think it's a long shot. I've tried claiming anyway but expect I've been screwed out of this one by Telstra.

        • @syousef: I did it instore (they had stock) and had no problems but certainly following up anything with Telstra is the pits. My recent experience has been wait times of 30 mins to 1.5hrs. Never less. I feel for you syousef.

In terms of eligibility for the $200s port in credit: you can either get the $10 discount per month on the plan, but that can run for up to two years, or you can get the $200 port-in credit. I went with the $200 because it means I'm better off if I change at the end of 12 months (e.g. back to Boost, who is normally better than Telstra for value in my opinion).
