Pretty simply, get the Family Plan for $11.99 for 3months, then goes to $17.99/mth for main+1 and from memory $23.99/mth for main+2 family. Can have up to 4 accounts, but can't remember the prices.

Been meaning to upgrade to family plan for a while, now I essentially have a second account for free for 3mths, then save $6/mth after that.

BTW, the information out there is really bad but you don't need to cancel your existing premium to join a family plan. I sent the invite code to my wife's account (was Premium), then just added her in. Try and time it for near the end of the billing cycle otherwise you essentially lose whatever Premium credit you had left on the 2nd account.

Instructions:

• On the "Master" account, follow the link in this deal and upgrade to "Family Plan".
• Visit the page Family Management page.
• Invite the person(s) using their email.
• On the Family members account, get the code sent via email and visit the Redeem page.
• Put in the code and they'll be attached to the master account.

Update (24 May 2016) — Spotify has upgraded their family plan and now for AUD $17.99/month you can sign up to 6 people in your family.

  Do I upgrade first to a family plan, which then allows me to invite family members to join?

  I've literally been wanting to do this for the past 2 months.. I keep forgetting to do it before subscription renews.

    Yes, upgrade then you get the ability to invite. They'll get a code which they put in the "Redeem" section of their account profile.

    The documentation is woeful, but it was surprisingly simple task! Added some instructions to OP.

  Bargain? That's more than a Netflix family account, and movies are orders of magnitude more expensive to make.
  No wonder only a tiny percentage of people pay for music streaming.

  Thanks for this, I just followed the process to the end. I couldn't see anywhere though where is said the first 3 months would be $11.99. Maybe it's finished.
