As per the mushtato post the other day, they have just reduced the price of the Xiaomi Yi Action Cam Sports Wifi Camera in White.

This price is about $10 more expensive than if you were to purchase from overseas stores such as banggood and gearbest, however I think $99 is a great price for local stock.

          ..'cause there is only one type of plastic. Jobski may be correct in that the specific plastic in the action cam isn't rated for higher temperatures.

          I made a timelapse video using one for about an hour and it warped. The battery was also deformed. So I advise against using it as a dashcam.

        I was wondering about Sony cams, I think image stabilisation is quite important but having just seen the prices of the accessories I'm quite happy to forget about them again!

        Do any of these well-rated budget cams have an LCD so I at least know what I'm shooting at, especially when snorkelling?

    Does anyone know if this case for around $20 from aliexpress would be genuine Xiaomi? I haven't ordered much from Aliexpress, is it highly regarded?

      A few people in the feedback have said that it's fake and the Xiaoyi box is poor quality. The genuine ones seem to be selling for about $25 US currently.

      Protected by paypal but its almost guaranteed that you'll need to lodge a case in late january when it hasnt arrived yet. not worth the potential benefit (as I believe there really isn't any)

        No brand waterproof case from ebay seller, works fine. Dual battery charger and two batteries from bangood. Softcase with lens cap from gearbest.

    I'm not sure how much better the gopro is but this is an awesome sports camera for $100
    With the hacked firmware people get 30-50 Mbps data rates.
    Note though that you need to buy all mounts and cases separately. Cheap enough though.

      check out gearbest website.
      it has a normal camera screw hole for mounting. But you can get a gopro style adapter for a couple dollars and then use any gopro mount.

      i love xiaomi but have a funny feeling if they tried to launch their phones in USA/UK/AUS they will be sued into oblivion by patent holders

      Their web store has it for $49.95 but their ebay store is selling it for $39.95. I'd love to see it for $20 :)

    I just bought one from this seller on eBay. Contacted him before hand if to ensure it was genuine xiaomi and not a copy. This was his response

    "Hi,
    This genuine 100% Xiaomi branded product. I can 100% guarantee you."

    Anyway $35 AU stock with the 3% cashrewards I'm willing to take a shot at it.
