  • The 9.5x5m has been that price for a long time as got one in a 15 or 20% off ebay sale a few months back, which obviously ended up cheaper than this current deal. Quality is so-so but better than expected for the price. Should last a couple of years at least.

It is poorly folded in the box which makes taking it out and putting it on the pool harder than it should be… also no instructions, so remember to leave it on the pool a day or two before cutting to size.

  • I'm really curious about the quality of this or any ebay pool cover. I'm in the market for one and was looking at cheaper ebay ones and alternative at the Elite Pool Cover. Unfortunately the later is 2.5 x the price of this one but to be fair, it's a 500 or 550 micron in comparison to this which is a 400 micron.
Would the Elite really last 2.5 x longer than this one? Any first hand experience with pool blankets from ebay?

    • There is a post on Whirlpool about this one where the guy said it lasted only 1 years before started to fall to bits… but you have no idea what his cholorine levels were like.

      • Thanks for the hint.

        • +1

I have an eBay one that is just under a year old and has fallen to bits.
It's the top side that has deteriorated and only the end that is exposed to the sun all day. The end under my shade sale is fine.
My chemicals have been fine all year.
It's a pain in the ass getting all the little blue flakes out of the pool.
They are in the process of refunding me as it had a 1 year warranty.

        • @dan76n: Thanks for the review.

    • Can't speak for the Elite, but can tell you about the experience my brother had with his 500micron cover from another seller on Epay.
Bought one from KasaMegastore/KasaTechnology/kasafactory.com (who have the appearance of a sizable company) after confirming with them that it had a 3 year warranty.
No dramas until about month 11, started falling to bits and clogging the skimmer.
Approached the seller via Epay messaging - totally unresponsive, approached EPay and they provided direct contact info.
Contacted the seller who basically said bad luck piss off your problem.
PayPal said only claims made within 6 months can be dealt with.
He's in the process of reviewing his options including small claims tribunal.

Caveat emptor with pool covers in general, but particularly with Epay and many online sellers.

PS. my brother used to be a pool handover specialist ie. he taught new pool owners how to take care of their new pool including how to keep the pool chemistry in balance. No excess chlorine or other abnormal external factors were affecting this cover.
