Most eBay/Gumtree buyers won't be able to tell they received a cheap usb 2 stick from Dick.
I was at DJs chadstone last night and I saw the tower thing for usbs but I'm pretty sure all the cheap ones were gone.
The cheap ones are cleared by doggy ebay/gumtree sellers. They are now busy putting a 'USB 3.0' label on individual sticks. We will soon see the listings.
Might get bashed for this but what's the difference between 2.0 and 3.0?

When comparing 2.0 and 3.0 there are a few major differences. First the transfer rates: USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps - that's 10 times faster. Note that the transfer speeds also depend on the device in use in addition to the bus type and USB ports and cables.

Theyre just faster, IF you plug them into a usb 3.0 port.
If you have a laptop with the blue USB ports they are probably USB3.0, then you can take advantage of the faster speeds of a USB3.0 device.For example my cheap USB 2.0 thumbdrives usually transfer files at 2-10 MB/s
my cheap usb 3.0 thumbdrives transfer at 10-20 MB/s
my expensive usb 3.0 thumbdrive is around 50 MB/s
and a standard usb 3.0 portable hard drive will be around 100MB/smakes a big difference when transferring movies and large files ;)

@attfiecz2: also the USB drive on the computer supports a higher voltage usb 2 is 500ma USB 3 runs at 1amp
Now to fill them all up - that's half a Terabyte you've got there… Assuming these are awesome and you get a whole 3Mbps write speeds, that'll only take about 3 weeks straight. Good luck with that.

No was not DSE branded but the EMTEC brand. Sure they are slow but for $1/disk its great.

Sydney DJ at Market St. had before lunch today 8GB EMTEC 3 packs for $3 and Dick Smith 32GB for $10 and 64GB for $20.
I went in local Dicksmith store other it Total mess A Total mess not a thing priced. I ask for stock gun to check prices they said no. Guy got the shit with ask him scan stuff.
I got told that there was 2 people went into David Jones Garden City QLD yesterday, 1 bought 40 of the flashdrive and other bought the rest for charity. So there none for me while i was there :(

i went into dj's adelaide central today and bought 3 3-packs. about 75 left at that stage and about the same of the singles. While xmas shopping i thought i should get some more and slip them in with all the gifts considering they're so cheap so i went back in about 4pm, in the mean time a guy had bought every single one they had. Asshole.
One of the staff members found me a couple that were floating around in other parts of the section and we had a good chat about the sales.
Mad props to the DJ's Adelaide central. They were all top blokes.
