That should make the AF-S 200-400 F4 affordable so it can go into every stocking this year. I know I've left the hint for the wife on the fridge.

No good deals jumping out at me :/

  • D5500 kit is $814 after 15% off. $714 after cashback. Not bad, already lower than grey imports.

Some decent deals the new 24-70mm is a few hundred cheaper than other places. My old one is slowly dying, zoom ring is getting stiff, manual focusing ring is playing up.

Some reviews are saying the older lens is still better in picture quality.

Might wait for it to die and hope sigma comes out with their long rummored f2 version.

    • A 24-70mm constant f/2 full frame lens? Keep dreaming.

      • That'd be monstrous and hugely expensive if it ever happens..

There's already a Sigma 24-35mm f/2 Art and that weighs a kilo and costs $1k. Even just stretching it to 24-50mm f/2 would be a big job

      • Sigma made a lot surprises products recently, including f/1.8 zoom lens. So I would not discount the possibility.

        • -1

There is no f/1.8 zoom lens for FF. The f/2 zoom by Sigma is limited to only 24-35mm and is already huge. A consumer 24-70 constant f/2 zoom for Full Frame will never happen.

    • Sigma is on a roll lately so who knows.
Even if they come out with a f2.8 Art series that would be great.

    • Was thinking of getting the new Nikon too… until I read some great reviews (especially on DXO mark) on the Tamron SP 24-70mm F2.8 Di VC USD Nikon. Does anyone have any experience with the Tamron??

      • When I started with Nikon with the D100 I had a couple of tamaron lenses. They were nothing special and have never owned a tamaron since. Their 24-70 is getting good reviews as you mentioned even their 150-600mm is well received. Maybe worth a look if I can play with one first.

        The price isn't bad either.

      • The new Tamron Di VC USD gear is exceptional. I have the 70-200 and there is no possible way I could justify spending at least double to get the Nikon version. It may be 5% better than the Tamron, although DXO thinks the Tamron is sharper.

      • Tamton 24-70 and 70-200 are excellent lens. only problem with 70-200 is you cant use any teleconverter with it. 24-70 i cant find any flaw in this lens it pretty much at par with canon and nikon.

  • i wonder if anyone have asked them for 15% off their Canon lens and got it!
