BUY2010
This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

For those who didn't get a chance to get the last $1 domain deal, here is your chance. Register any new domain (e.g. Icanhaz2for1grilldburger.com) with godaddy.com for just 99 cents for 1 year (plus $.18 ICANN fee). Buy any domain (ignoring any other promotions on site) and enter the coupon code: BUY2010.

Note: Not valid on renewals. 1 per account. Normal price for domains is usually around $8.99USD ($10AUD). No need to purchase hosting or anything else with them. Just the domain. I've personally registered multiple domains for years with Godaddy with no problems.Applies to the first year only of new or transfer registrations.

This offer may not be used for renewals, bulk registrations, premium domains or Sunrise/Landrush domain registrations. Limited to one order per customer, expiring after 7,500 redemptions or on March 11, 2010 (whichever comes first). Discount will be reflected in your shopping cart; cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. Customers may not use gift cards, PayPal® or AliPay to redeem this offer.

Valid for .COM, .US, .MOBI, .BIZ, .NET, .ORG, .CA, .CO.UK and .IN domains.

Via Slickdeals forum (USA's OZbargain).

mod: Coupon code appears to have expired. Marked as expired.

  • How hard is it to change to a different registrar when you have to renew next year?

    • Not hard at all, just initiate the transfer with another registrar. That said, there are coupons floating around on the Internet that will get you discount renewals albeit not as cheap as $1.

  • Good deal as long as you uncheck the automatic renewal box hidden somewhere in the account interface, and transfer out early enough to avoid the dirty tricks that have been reported.

    • They will email you multiple times before they renew your domain.

      Dear Neil,

The following domain name(s) are set to automatically renew on the expiration date(s) listed:

      yourdomain.com - Aug. 28, 2009

I received this 4 days before and 90 days before it was set to renew.

  • You need to buy:

    • Personalized Email or
    • WebSite Tonight or
    • Hosting or
    • Quick Shopping Cart

    To qualify for this.

    • Not true, ignore the promotion on the front page. Just buy the domain as normal.

  • +1

I just bought one. Nothing else needed with the coupon.

Just ignore all the hard sells and unselect any additional products. GoDaddy is notoriously bad for this.

  • Thanks Neil

  • Is there a limit on how many can be redeemed? Not per person, just in total (eg, 5000?)

  • How good are the deals on renewals?

  • I've tried to register but I can't proceed as I need to select an extra product.

This is the respond I got back

"To proceed, please choose a product from the list above.
Or click here to skip the product and add the domain at regular price."

    • Skip all the extras, just get the domain, and when it comes to checkout put in the code.

  • I want to be able to choose .com.au, but it isnt listed?.. :-(

    • Go Daddy don't do Australian TLDs.

  • :( can't pay with paypal, i don't have cc

  • Thank you

  • wow this is great, thnx neil

  • Thanks. Worked fine for me. I have over 50 domains registered with GoDaddy and have never had a problem. I don't care how many other services they offer while registering. They are easily ignored. Also, their iphone app for managing domains is exceptional, if anyone was wondering.

  • Forgive the noob question: Can i buy this and add it to my Cove/VentraIP account (which supports addon domains) ?

    • Yep, you just need to put your Cove settings in the GoDaddy control panel or just use the free forwarding. So blah.com will redirect to blah.com.au.

  • When does the code expire? Might want to order one later but if its a one day thing..

    • -1

      Don't think too much… it's only $1

      • Limited to one order per customer, expiring after 7,500 redemptions or on March 11, 2010 (whichever comes first).

      • I need to decide what domain name which does require discussions.

      • I may have waited too long. One account worked earlier today but on a second account I'm getting :
The promotional code you entered is invalid.
