  • Awesome deal

Oh yeah. And how do you stream music in your car like I do with spotify? You can't without leaving your screen on and using excessive amounts of data and battery. Plus a million other things.

    • +2

      Disadvantages:
      - watching music video intros/endings/random cuts in the middle.
      - censoring in certain songs
      - finding alternatives to songs that avoid both points just mentioned but are low in quality or sped up so they dont get taken down.

        • +2

you might as well just download pirated mp3s, it's the same - if you block ads, no one gets paid.

      • +1

If you are going to do that, you use a third party app like FireTube. It's not really comparable since the quality of the songs on YouTube aren't typically at the same level or the convenience.

Pirating songs would be better, you can ensure higher quality, but then you have to factor in storing on the device vs streaming.

Isn't Tidal's market audience people who prefer lossless encoded music?
Audio on youtube runs at an embarrassingly low bitrate unless you are lucky enough that they uploaded a song with a still image in HD.

your ears cant tell the difference between vbr 192 and lossless anyway

Nice find. Some additional info (feel free to add to the description, OP):

When the trial expires, monthly fees are AUD$18.

    • Title updated. Thanks.

  • Possible to rip/store offline?

    • +3

      no, its full of DRM

      • Oh. Thanks for rapid reply

    • +1

you can rip with an app that installs a virtual sound card like Audials. But the musicians won't get paid if you do it as tidal won't be able to keep track of the number of listens.

  • ah man, I signed up when there was a 3 for 1 month offer.

3 months TIDAL + 3 Months Apple Music + 3 months Google Play Music + 3 Months Spotify = 12 months free music.

    • But are all these deals going to be around in 3 months time?

These guys are ok. They pay musicians well, along with Google music…

      • Are you actually so naive your claiming Google pays artists well. If so wow, I guess there are rubes buying the spin …

        • I think he meant in comparison to other streaming services. Do you have evidence that says otherwise?

      • In this day and age, artists have the opportunity to self-publish online and ask for donations/conscience money. It works for Gramatik.

    • I thoughtlessly clicked on the Spotify free trial yesterday and got 7 days. Oh.

With the demise of Rdio in the next few hours, there may be a range of offers appearing.

Unfortunately they may not be aiming for an (ahem) Indonesian audience like us.

      This is Ozbargain, not IndoBargain

      • +4

I don't think you understood his hidden meaning. It's a moot point anyway with Rdio closed and along with it that loophole.

  • Cheers, TA!

  • Now I can finally listen to FWA again!

    Needs credit card info

    • paypal accepted

    • PayPal account worked fine for me, have you tried that?

  • +1

Damn wanted access to their lossless streaming service.

  • Thanks, TA
