    • So you have to have an Amex credit card from one of those Australian banks to be able to get those $50 discounts, is it? Can't be bothered to apply a credit card for just once in a while deals to save some money.

      • Can be bank issued or AMEX issued, with the later at least having some no annual fee options.

Can't be bothered to apply a credit card for just once in a while deals to save some money.

Please revoke your Ozbargain membership card! ;)

        • Funny thing is, I don't even have any credit card at all. I use my CBA debit MasterCard for my online purchases and I am happy with that. To me, that's the real Ozbargain deal there; being real tightarse. :)

        • @AussieDaddy: Sorry but how is using your own money, instead of using someone else's money for free up to 55 days, being a tightarse? Plenty of no annual fee credit cards out there. You can even get reward points to redeem free useless stuff once in a while for extra bonus.

@csg001: I know myself and my lazy & addictive ways so I am better off without credit cards. Too risky for me.

  • Does anyone know whether they allow you to split payments with multiple cards or not? I have three Amex cards and want to buy an imac.

    • I have done split payments at HN before but with gift cards and Amex.

    • +1

They do, i paid with 2 amex.

    • Yes they do, I used 4 AMEX to purchase surface pro 4 in the Richmond store today. Note that it wasn't a busy day today.

  • Hi I just bought Samsung S5 from HN for 372(397-25).But I don't know whether I will get the Amex offer $50 as I used bank issued Amex card. Will they give $50 offer for use of bank issued amex card?Has someone used it?

  • Thank you so much

Has anyone else tried it at Harvey Norman @ Domayne?? I didn't get a confirmation email…..

    • +1

Same question. Amex website displays that I have spend $350 at Domayne instead of Harvey Norman. Would I get $50 bucks back?

Also, I bought giftcards and hope they won't spot it… XD

      • Did you end up getting the credit?

    • same happened to me!!! i don't think i am getting the credit!

this is Domayne north ryde, it clearly says at the door that the electronics are harvey norman instead of domayne!!!!! but statement came as domayne

      • Same here. Purchased from "Harvey Norman North Ryde" but Invoice says "Domayne" despite everything including Tax Invoice says Harvey Norman. Have tried to contact Amex. Have you guys with similar situation had any luck getting the $50 credit?

        • What did Amex say?

I went to Harvey Norman north Ryde today, and they refuse to refund for me and none of their terminal will come up as Harvey Norman on Amex

I got stuck, just lost $100

        • @villemus: so basically you walk into a Target store but get a Kmart receipt. Why don't you complain to ACCC if they refuse to refund?

        • @villemus:

When I spoke to Amex on the phone they told me to email them via "Contact Us" on Amex Connect site.
I emailed them and have just received the following reply:
"Domayne AV/IT NNORTH RYDE is included in the participating store lists so, please allow at least 10 business days for the transactions to process.

Kindly let us know if the credit does not appear on your statement in the next 14 days, we will then investigate further."

It's not 10 days for me yet so I will wait and see if the credit goes into my account.

        • @bwclu: it has never taken 10 days before, at max the next day.

So i highly doubt that this one will come through

  • Has anyone had confirmed purchase of an Apple device and received the credit?

I know that the T&Cs normally exclude a heap of things but they still get the credit, but am just after confirmation on this one.

    • +1

Yeap I bought an Apple Watch and got the cash back email straight away.

      • Great! Want to do the same. Did you purchase online with the $25 newsletter credit?

        • +1

Yes successfully used them both together.

  • I don't know if anyone is still interested, but I just snagged myself a 1TB Xbox One bundle with 3 games (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/games-gaming-consoles/game-co…) for $349 using this deal and a price-match.

    This is what I did:

Went onto their live chat - asked them to price match with JB Hifi (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/games/Gaming-Consol…) to bring it down to $399.

Paid with AMEX for $50 credit - so all up, $349.

I've posted this in another thread but thought it would be useful here too.

The guy I spoke to on the Live Chat said I couldn't use the $25 as a promo code had to be applied for the price match and the system won't accept two promo codes. Still a good deal in my books to get a 1TB console.

  • 1/2/2016 1st of feb or 2nd of jan?

  • I have to buy a fridge which is about $1500. Can I buy multiple gift cards online on a single Amex and still get $50 for each gift card? Not sure from comments if this would work or not? Thanks!

    • 1 per Amex card

  • No. The $50 is per registered AMEX. I think if you register multiple AMEX, you can split the payment between them and get $50 back for each card.

    • Oh. Just realise that wife has different Amex card number then mine even though we are on same account. Hopefully they will allow this? Has anyone brought egift card online and still being able to use this offer?

      • Skip the middle step and just buy the fridge splitting the payment over your two registered AMEX cards.

      • My wife and I just used our two Amex cards (linked to the same account) to buy a TV at Harvey Norman. Just ask them to split it over two credit cards. Worked fine. $100 off.

  • How's this for a deal?
Beats studio wireless first listed at $489 now 20% off —> $382
$25 off from Harvey Norman voucher for signing up for mailing list —> $357
    $50 off for amex —> $307

    Winning :D

  • Still unsure what "•Phone orders are not applicable." means and how they would distinguish the difference? I plan to purchase through the HN Corporate Office which may need to be done over the phone(or email), however they will still process the transaction through their eftpos system.
Any ideas? is it worth the risk? potential loss is $61 if I don't get the AMEX cashback through the corporate office (2 cards)
    Thanks

  • Two questions: 1) Is the offer still going on? ($50 Amex cashback in HN) 2) Can we use it twice during the same offer period? (I know we can use it in different offer periods i.e. 6 months back and now, but I am not sure if we can use it twice within a week's time)

  • I can confirm that I bought ipad mini 2 and few eGift Cards to make up $350 and I got the email from AMEX saying congrats you wll be getting $50 Credit. My Card NAB AMEX. So now I need think of what best use my other 3 amex cards. I did get -25 HN Online Registration as well. The only thing is I had to pay for Postage $5.95 and couldn't collect when I added the gift vouchers, even tho gift vouchers are coming thru email.

This worked very well. Bought a MacBook (price matched with Myer 10% off sale) and then split the cost over 5 AMEX cards (got a credit on each) to save myself around $450. The store clerk was happy enough to split the payments over that many cards. So it works with split payments and Apple products.

    • You did it in store and it was all good?

      • Yes, in store and it was all good!

  • I'm looking to buy an iPhone and read that you can get away with this even though the t&c says you can't. The plan is to split the payments between 2 Amex and some gift cards. Also utilising the $25 newsletter voucher. From the comments it looks like it's possible. Any advice how I go about doing this and getting a total of $125 off?

    • I think split payments are only in-store

      • I don't know guys. Just bought an iPhone today and got a thank you for spending at Harvey Norman we'll review and if your purchase meets the offer terms you'll get your $50 credit. Instead of the congratulations on taking up your Harvey Norman offer email which I got for buying a tv.

        • Hi mate did you end up getting the credit back for the iPhone?

  • +1

seems like offer has ended. just tried to register.

  • Is the deal actually expired or that the AmEx site does not allow more people to register? I'm at HN now and was going to buy a few things.

    • Only marked as expired as can no longer register. If registered, credit valid until the 1st Feb.

  • The registration page is available again, does that means offer still available? Is there anyway to find out if 20,000 has been reached?

I've just been in a week long battle with Harvey Norman because they rejected my online purchases for no apparent reason (order was taken then a day later I get an email saying they are not accepting my order and refunding my money).

I called to question why my order wasnt accepted and their reason was it was an abuse of the Amex offer. I made purchases within the terms and conditions of the offer and yet i am accused of abusing the offer. I will be taking this up with the office of fair trading and American Express.

Has anyone else had this experience?
