  • Is there a catch? That's a pretty huge discount. I was going to get a $15 aldi helmet coming up on special buys.

  • +4

It looks like an inflated RRP OP

  • -1

If you think it's inflated you don't know much about cycling and even if it was an inflated RRP, it's silly cheap for a quality helmet.. If your into cycling or know someone who might be into it then you would be silly to pass up on the helmet at $10..

I have had Carrera and they are just an underrated brand.. Just as good as the entry stuff from Giro

    • +9

You don't need to know anything at all about cycling to know that all RRP's are inflated.

      • -1

        Okie dokie

      • +3

        Clueless

    • +1

I don't know anything about cycling. Tell me more Lance

  • +2

Great price for a quality helmet, selling for $100 every where else.

  • -7

And remember unless your an athlete leave the Lycra at home.

    • +4

haha.. I am not an athlete but I do triathlon's and even I don't wear lycra.. Only compression tights on the odd occasion..

I will admit it's gross seeing the Middle aged men wearing it who are in bad shape. At the end of the day at least there out there giving it a go! Just don't look them if it bothers you ;)

      • -2

My point exactly. I swam 3 times a week for 9 months before I felt I even had the right to wear a decent pair of swimmers. If you can't walk the walk don't talk the talk.

        • +6

Whats worse than an 'non-athelete' in cycling gear? Someone telling people what to do.

Let me guess you have issues with people that wear runners when they go for a walk?

        • Just sounds like you are self-conscious and have self-esteem issues

        • -1

I'm curious what sort of swimmers did you wear before you realised that you are an athlete?
What was the pass mark to earn this noble title…?

        • +1

          @pitiek:
I think that was a woossh! Surely Tas was not serious?

        • +1

@pitiek: I'm curious as to why your curious about what I wore to the pool. As for what makes someone an athlete I'm not sure, maybe you should go ask one.

        • @Tasmaniac: I thought you said you are…? :(

        • @pitiek: I said a decent pair of swimmers not Ian Thorpe's Olympic swimsuit.

        • @Tasmaniac: So what is the equivalent of a decent pair of swimmers in cycling if lycra bib shorts and jersey is not an option in your opinion…?

        • @pitiek: I'm not sure mate its Christmas. If you feel comfortable and Lycra keeps you motivated go for it.

    • +1

If you are doing a 50km social ride, bike shorts are a good thing. Just not for the local shops.

What bugs me is all the jerseys with advertising.

      • +2

Jerseys with advertising are usually just the local bike clubs. Sponsors do a lot to help local clubs out.

Jerseys with national/world champion colours. No thanks. If you haven't earnt it, don't wear it.

    • So I can only be an athlete in my own home only…?? You are silly… :)

    This was a great buy…

    Also a silly cheap Mavic Cosmic Carbone SR Front Wheel ($249.99) (I have a set which cost $1900 and they are bullet proof for training and races);

    http://www.pushys.com.au/mavic-cosmic-carbone-sr-front-wheel…

Few more bargains on the site to be had if you have a close look.

    • is that a tub or clincher?

      • +1

        SR's are clincher ;)

Tub's are way too much hassle.. I race on clinchers.

  • Cheers OP picked up a blue one in L/XL. Red seemed to be sold out. $15 shipping to Perth.

  • Red sold out, blue still available :)

    • That didn't take long…

    • +2

      I prefer the red pill.

    • Red is faster anyway (maybe too fast for some people)! :-)

  • I need 2, free shipping for order of qty (11) to Sydney. Who want to do group buy reply to me. Be quick, stock's running out soon.

NVM: sold out now, jezzz…$12 shipping to NSW on top of that price. There are some seriously bargain addiction here.

  • +1

    Seems all sold out?

    • Yep all gone in s/m

  • Hoping the Helmet Laws are repealed in WA soon…

  • Sold out. … and now showing Small size back in stock again.

  • +5

looks like they are clearing out all Cerrer helmets, the rest are all around $20-30 down from up to $240

    http://www.pushys.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=Carrera

    • Well spotted - the discounts r insane!

  • Bought 2 L/XL RED with $12 regular shipping for both. Thanks OP

Also got some more back via CashRewards too!

  • +1

It's got speed holes in it. Good buy

  • Quality is one thing. Australian standards sticker is another. Does this come with an australian standards sticker inside?

    • +2

The two that I received have the AS stickers on them.

      • Min that case. This is a sweet deal indeed. Thanks OP

    • +1

Pushies is Aussie so they must be Aus standard or it'd be illegal to sell 'em

  • Bought one. Great deal!

  • Blue/white are gone

  • only L/XL female white left.

  • +1

Just got one for the wife. $24.95 all up with shipping. Damn I spoil her ;-)

    • +1

Make her think you paid RRP just for her… That's your Xmas week sorted ;)

  • How is there a female specific helmet? Different shaped heads?!?

    • +1

I wear either womens and mens.. So it's not female specific, at least I don't believe so..

Just pretty colours is the main difference

    • +1

Nope, just a different color scheme, they even share the same model number (SF-5B).

PS: I got the a Razor and an Aria this morning.

  • +2

Don't forget to check pkets link from above - http://www.pushys.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=Carrera

    Lots more cheap….

    • Oh thanks for that. The Gravity option seems pretty good with the visor? Hate getting sun in eyes. Any views on this one as a $9.99 helmet vs the Aria?

      • +1

It's not as good with no internal rollcage and a large area of exposed foam at the back of the helmet.

The Razor, C-Storm, Artiglio and Aria are basically the same helmet with different trims, colour schemes and visors/peaks.

        • +1

Wish i saw this comment before i put my order through. So it's not too protective if we fall off the bike? I bought 2 helmets from aldi for $27 each about a month ago.. wrapped it all up for christmas.. now i see this sale.. Bought the 2 x gravity helmets.. now i'm going to ask for the helmets back when the Aldi ones are unwrapped as i'll be swapping it with the Carerras when they arrive in the mail (probably after Christmas in Sydney).

        • @kimba88:

Should be equally protective all things considered. However, the exposed foam area would be more susceptible to wear and tear during transport and handling.

        • @systema: Ahh hopefully it will be ok. How do you know so much about all these helmets.. there isn't any pics to see the exposed foam :-)
Here's a pic of the one i picked up at Aldi.. is the Carerra still better?
          http://i65.tinypic.com/35hfk0o.jpg

        • @kimba88:

          that looks fabulous

        • @first in line: sarcasm?

        • +2

          @kimba88:
The Carrera is likely to be better ventilated compared to the Aldi helmet. However, the shell of the Aldi helmet extends under the helmet, which helps protecting the EPS liner against everyday wear and tear as well as accidental damage. The Aldi helmet is actually made by the same people who build the helmets for Carrera (Strategic Sports), so you will find components (e.g. the retention systems and straps) rather similar between the two.

The Radius, Razor, C-Storm, Artiglio and Aria lines seem to be custom built for Carrera to their specifications, which is why you will find the additional features such as the internal rollcage / reinforcements, etc, and better components in these models.

PS: BTW, Strategic Sports also act as the OEM of quite a number of branded helmets (e.g. Scott, Kali, BBB, etc) as well as most of the Kmart, BigW, Rosebank, Jetblack helmets out there.

PPS: This is a great resource if you want to trace back some of the lineage of your helmet - http://www.helmets.org/helmet15.htm

        • @systema:

So which is the better one?

I'm looking at getting one for myself, and one for my partner… too many options.

We will only be using them every few months.

        • @systema: sigh Wish i bought the C-Storm now

        • +1

          @movieman:

Value for money-wise, the C-Storms are the better ones among those that are still available imho.

        • @kimba88:
Try giving them a call tomorrow morning, I think the staff there may still be able to change the order if it hasn't been packaged yet (I did that once last year).

        • @systema:

          Thanks.

          C-storm, or C-storm 2.12?

        • +1

          @movieman:

          Same helmet, different graphics.

        • @systema:

          Thanks mate…. ordered 2!

        • @systema:

You'd go c-storm over radius/artiglio? Because the aluminium frame and lighter weight aren't worth the extra $10? Or because the visor is removable (is it removable on the artiglio?)?

        • +1

          @caprimulgus:

50% price hike for alu frame is bit much, which is why I got myself a Razor, not a Radius in the first place. For movieman who is planning to use the helmets once every few months, I doubt if the slightly lighter weight is going to make much difference. I think the visors on the Artiglio are removable.

        • @systema: how do you know the c-storm has the internal roll cage and reinforcements? I'm so confused. Don't know if I should ring Pushys to swap the order for c-storms, cancel it to keep my aldi ones.. Or just leave the original order for the two gravitys. I bought my partner a bike for Christmas. We don't really ride now, but hope to after Christmas. I'm like movieman.. Probably ride every month/few months, etc. I also don't want a helmet that is overkill.. But one that will protect is and be comfortable

        • @kimba88:

keep the fabulous Aldi one ;)

        • @systema:

Cheers, you speak sense! Indeed, I would have bought the razor if it had been in stock in my size when I got to it!

Decided to go all out on the radius and artiglio, but probably should have saved the extra $20 (particularly because the all black c-storm was my favourite looking of the lot, with the grey radius second).

        • @kimba88:
For your case either the Aldi or the Gravity will do the job well. The internal reinforcement / roll cage is labelled as Super Tech Frame and you can see that on the photo of the listing.

        • @systema: Thanks mate! Might just let my partner decide which one they like best then

        • @systema: How does this one compare? https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-wed-30-… This is going on sale at Aldi next week

  • Yep, others on special. MTB helmets available too.

  • Sold out :-(

P.S. However, there are other Carrera helmets those have been massively reduced. Snatched one of them. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Hey guys a noob questiong pls: im looking at the measurement. Which part of the head are we supposed to measure here?

    • +3

      http://guides.wiggle.com.au/helmet-buying-guide

"The way to measure your head size for a helmet is by using a measuring tape. Measure approximately 1inch (2.5cm) above your eyebrows (forehead) and around the complete circumference of your head. Ensure the tape measure is a close fit and measure a few times to ensure you get the correct size."

  • All sold out

  • Thanks - bought two. I liked one of the $10 better, but couldn't resist a $30 from $240!
