The Coles $5 for 7.6GB would do the job wouldn't they? Just a different APN

    • All the same…5GB bonus in top of normal data included.

    • marked as expired, and as arctan suggests, good luck finding stock

      • Wasn't expired on the 27th …you're too late.

yeah, I got confused, I thought I was replying on the post that (I later found) got deleted due to being a dupe.
I should have just gone to bed early.

Most of coles and Woolworths are out of stock in Sydney.

I wonder if you could get two by
also picking up a PINK COLOURED Telstra $30 Pre-Paid Trio SIM Starter Kit
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/telstra-30-pre-paid-trio-sim-…

Technically its one of each so should't be an issue. Seems to have a diff product code…

    • You can split it into two or more orders.

  • Online quick chat wouldn't match the Coles/Woolies $5 offer, they said the price needed to be on a webpage as it is an online offer, tried showing them the banner/receipt - still nothing. Otherwise check in store to see if they will price match.

    • Almost got a price match at Harvey Norman Wagga but the kid serving me got nervous when I asked for multiple and called in his manager. Manager said "we can only sell Telstra stock at the price they scan". Got 5 in Woolies next day in Sydney. Haven't actually bought anything from Harvey Norman in a good 18 months or so. Almost as bad as DSE.

      • My experience with HN price matching has been pretty dodgy also. They come up with BS excuses about why they can't.

        • That's okay. If they don't price match I just don't buy from them. If they do it repeatedly I don't bother going much (which I don't anymore). Pretty simple. Gerry Harvey will whine about every external factor making his business less viable but his staff will pull this. I don't owe him a thing and I don't have to buy from a company that lies to me.

  • Telstra Prepaid Freedom Plus won't work in iPads or wifi devices I was told by a Telstra rep - will use data at $2/MB not give 5GB. Is that true?

    • falsehood

    • If you're using it for broadband Freedom Plus is only the better option till near end of Jan (26th I think) when they pull the extra 5GB bonus data. After that it's 2.6 (with 1.3 for use only at night) vs 3GB with no restrictions if activated for broadband device. If you don't need the spare phone number, activating as broadband is the way to go (except while this special is on).

      • How do you activate o Freedom plus ? I've got a couple of these starter packs I bought on earlier bargains, but when I activated one a few days ago it didn't offer any option of freedom plus, only "telstra pre-paid mobile broadband data pass". I've tried again using their 24x7 app on my phone, and again (under 'view or change offer') it says "Cannot change offer".

I guess I did something wrong during the initial activation (hangs head in ozb shame for blowing value I'd paid for).

I had some vague memory there was a wiki or sticky post somewhere here on how to get the best value from Telstra prepaid. Does anyone have a link ?

        • I have a mix of broadband and mobile starter packs and have only activated 2 freedom plus plans. I didn't have any trouble doing it, but I don't think I used the mobile starter packs. I've read on here and whirlpool that there's no difference but I don't know enough about this to help you I'm afraid.

          @syousef: thanks

@effgee: When activating (regardless if the packaging says 'for tablet' or w/e) it will ask something along the lines of 'What is this sim for? Mobile or broadband'. If you select mobile it will allow you to pick F+, otherwise only DP will be available.

        • @awoff1:
yes, I do vaguely recall wondering if I was making a mistake at that point.
Kind of sucks that you need internet access to activate your internet access.

        • @awoff1:
thanks for the link, I actually stumbled on it myself about 10 minutes ago, with the link the the WP thread.
What kind of sick mind/organisation makes something so unnecessarily complicated ?

Thankfully all I need to do is activate my remaining sim on freedom+, then transfer credit from the DP one and I'll be good for a while.

Plus there's the thread that was deleted claiming you could buy $30 starter kits from HN delivered for $10 - anyone know how to get free delivery, or was that a mistake ?

  • Just went to Woolworths who will not honor $5 deal anymore offer expired

  • HN Munno Para are out of stock. Don't forget to check the expiry date if you find one! They sold me an old micro sim pack and when I got to the door I realised it was expired and returned it.
