As a Blackberry owner- I cry! Blackberry just lost its status symbol… Oh well, time for a new phone.

What status symbol? The handset of choice of working suits?

Why not just get a Nokia Vertu since you're so gonna swap phones just because Optus has discounted an aging handset??!!

wtf status symbol, you mean the fact that no one used to want one and they might now

Blackberry never had cheap phones, now it does…

Are you worried you may look cheap now ? , how much you want for your old blackberry ?

Lol status symbol?its a phone. People use it to communicate

    • Huh? What? Status Symbol? Blackberry Onyx (BB2) or Storm 2 is cheap phones compare to iPhone / Nokia Vertu.

It's only a phone for Petes sake.

Anyway, its a Good Deal tho. It was $299 + $20 for first voucher from Crazy Johns.

    Just note no 3G

    • Thanks for this important note! I had not even thought about that!

    • Not sure if you are able to put the SIM into another Blackberry like the 9700 and sell the 8520. Might have to call Optus up when I have a chance, the "no 3G" is a bit of a problem especially with Optus. Having said that, 3G isn't that much better with them anyway ;)

      • alialoosh, should be no problem I'd say. Your BBM will automaticall migrate. For email, you need to login to Optus BIS and release old pin and re-enter with new 9700 pin.

PS: 3G draws more battery power than 2G/Edge. And all traffic is going to RIM Canada anyway (CMIIW), therefore 3G doesn't make much different I'd say.

      • I finally got my hands on one of these 8520 kits (they have been really hard to find) and I can confirm that the Phone is UNLOCKED.

Still waiting for my SIM to become active to try it in my BB 9000

Confirmed, PrePaid SIM works fine in any Blackberry.

    Have Fun !
