  • That is a seriously good price, got one a year ago and been extremely happy with it…

  • I bought it from the previous deal on eBay, love it.

    • +1

Me too. I'm burning so hard

      • +2

I saw what you did there…sigh, we gotta start ironing out these bad puns :P

  • It says on the claims page that purchases from third party internet sales sites, like eBay, are excluded.. or does this not count because its a Goodguys ebay store?

    • Yes, I would like to know this as well.

    • I don't know myself, but will a click and collect invoice, if supplied on collection, specify it was an eBay purchase or not?

    • +4

When you purchase it via TGG eBay, Good Guys supply you with a TGG Tax Invoice so it doesn't matter. I had done the same thing previously.

      • This ^

The question gets asked every damn time this deal is posted.

    • Don't choose delivery if you're worried about the cashback, I had this delivered the last time and although they gave me a TGG invoice the delivery cost was specifically marked 'eBay delivery'.

    • Just got my invoice, no difference except it's a charge for the delivery as 'Ebay Deal' - so i think it's safe to say that the cashback can be claimed. Cheers

Back in stock!!! Thanks OP, ordered one

Just be careful to keep your receipt. I got this model back in August? when there was an ebay sale, but after 7 weeks or so it keep getting stuck in 'decalc' mode, and only pouring all the water out (and hence tipping the unit upside down), would make it get out of this mode (after obviously de-calcing it 5 times). Stopped this for a few days & then started again. Instead I returned it and went back to Tefal (which I had previously). Also didn't like that you can't change the temp of the iron or the amount of steam that comes out (you can do eco steam or normal, but not boost like on tefal)

    • +2

Should keep your receipt with anything really

  • Out of stock again

  • Back in stock :)

  • Back in stock, just ordered one. Thanks OP !

  • couldn't find click and collect option for this item.

    • You should be able to now!

  • So I bought this on eBay and received an email payment confirmation from Paypal..
I checked my eBay purchase history and it doesn't show that I have bought this item.
Is this normal? Should I purchase it again? Any advice on this would be helpful thanks :)

    • Looks like TGG has some problem passing Click & Collect orders for this item… Try delivery… PayPal payment should have been credited back if you check in your PayPal account

  • How long does the cash back claim usually take with Philips from submission?

  • Anyone can confirm this is the eligable philips GC8642/21? Cause the GC8642/20 looks the same but no cash back. On TGG website its advertised with cashback so i assume thats the GC8642/21, but dont know is the their ebay store selling the same one

    • +1

I received the cashback successfully for the eBay model.

      • did this include using a good guys invoice that said "ebay delivery" on it?

      • is that GC8642/20 or 21 ?

  • Got it thanks OP

  • Omggggg. I just bought it for the other deal and also thought that eBay wouldn't work for cash back

  • This item is out of stock.

    • back in stock - more than 10 available

  • Out of stock

  • Is this safe for steam ironing curtains? Legitimate question.

  • Back in stock

  • Does anyone know if the iron rest on this board will be big enough to sit the whole Philips unit?

    • I have a Brabantia ironing board and keep the whole ironing unit on the iron rest.

  • worth of money. got one from last year promo.

  • Showing OOS now, hopefully it comes back.

    …and back.

  • and gone lol

  • bought one.. didn't really need it but should be a good one.. hopefully it can be fit on my current iron board…

    • Seems like I need to get a new ironing board philips 8 ($125) to fit the iron base properly and most review says it seems to die after two years, when thr warranty expires so put in the calendar to call then after 1.5years to get it replaced..

  • I need the planets to align because this and a washing machine keep on coming into/out of stock and available/unavailable for C&C. Frustrating.

    • I guess it's just a marketing strategy that is clearly working haha - currently waiting to buy one too…..

      • Both available on eBay, both available in store but no C&C option. Store says they won't get involved and refund postage, even though I know they distribute orders to the closest store for distribution. Done it heaps of times.

        • Yeah i had the same issue. I just ordered it, didn't want to risk losing out on the deal. I called some stores up and many were out of stock.

        • Finally the option became available, so didn't have to wait too long. All good.

        • @bxpressiv: it worked for you??? lucky!

        • Yeah, C&C appeared for both items at the same time, which is now unavailable again.

  • Lucky you! I chose for it to be delivered. TBH I didn't really think about C&C - noob!!

    • Same, i was trying C&C but it never worked so i just got it delivered. Could have saved an extra $12!!

      • +1

        Minus petrol and time costs

    • If you're having it delivered you should receive a message through eBay saying which store the order has been allocated to for distribution. If it's your local tell them you'll come in and pick it up and ask to have the postage refunded.

      • Thanks for the tip! It seems that my nearest store has no stock so that's probably why it kept failing. I'll just settle for the delivery, can't complain after all, it's a great deal!

      • I have tried that but the salesperson said TGG cannot change the delivery method and suggested me to cancel my order and make a new one. Not sure though if it works for others.

      • Yeah mine is Frankston (I'm in Mulgrave)but I'm pretty certain they'll have me re-order it, which can be done but I am yet to see the C&C option for this deal so unsure if it's worth the effort for $12, not to mention I may end up with nothing haha, Unless someone else has been able to C&C? Cheers

      • Yeah .. It shows Penrith store got my order and not the castle hill store which is close to me so…. Yeah may be store stock level plays the role when the stock is allocated

        • Of course now the C&C works haha, just letting others know as they have uped the shipping price to $15

    • +1

Opted delivery for an order and C&C from Auburn for another (for a friend)… Delivery order dispatched yesterday and delivering today… For C& C, got confirmation this morning for pick-up…

  • +1

Back in stock again and have decided to have it delivered! Was thinking of C&C but just don't have the time and whilst I could have saved $12, I could also missed out on the deal!

  • Out of stock again. Arghh

    • +1

Give it 10 mins, trust me I'm doing this since mornng haha

    • +1

It's back up again! Don't make the same mistake as me and choose C&C along with the other money saving tips. Goodluck

      • Thanks.

Wow price now is $237 with a $11+ postage.

  • Damn.. looks like it's Out of Stock again.

    • +1

Give it 10 mins, trust me I'm doing this since mornng haha

    • It's back up again! Don't make the same mistake as me and choose C&C along with the other money saving tips above. Goodluck

  • Philips GC8642 is also eligible for Garment Care 100 day money back guarantee

    • +1

Note that the T&C's say - Refund offer "not valid in conjunction with any other offer" so you may not be able to use it with the $100 rebate.

  • Would anyone know the difference between this iron and this one? http://www.philips.com.au/c-p/GC8635_02/perfectcare-aqua-pre…

This seems to be 'pressurised steam'? Anyone have any knowledge on this? The one advertised says up to 5.4 bars of steam, where this one is 5 bars.

    • You might want to read the reviews on the page….. Apparently the pressurised one has better reviews and a 5 star rating.

      • +1

I spoke to the staff at Philips. This one is a slightly newer model with the only main difference being the plate being the new and their highest premium type plate that glides 25% better and is treated better for scratch resistance. They've also got a 2 year warranty and most of the bad reviews have been around the steam not working after 18 or so months, so this could be replaced anyway.

        • How is it from a cost POV? Is the difference massive?

        • @SES: Identical, I had bought the GC8635 a year ago through Groupon for $200, and has been amazing. They are both priced the same, it's just that this one has the cash back offer and not the other.

        • @swifty7: Righto!

  • Cheeky (profanity) have uped the shipping cost to $15 haha, #ClickNCollect

  • Out of Stock, yet again!

    • Back up!

  • Back up!

  • I'm always late! Out of Stock again! grr

    • +1

      NOW! lol

      • +1

Thanks for the heads up SES, finally managed to grab one!

  • Just bought one 30min ago. Thank you!

  • Anyone claimed their cashback successfully yet?

I just realised the model I got from TGG (delivered) was the GC8642/20 and not /21 like their cashback form says.

Hope it's not an issue :(

  • Has anyone got their cashback for this deal yet? I submitted mine around 6 Jan. Not sure if I should check whether they received it.

    • I haven't received it too. Wait a while longer?

      • In the terms and conditions it says: "Claimants will be notified by email."

Not sure if anyone was actually notified via email prior to getting cashback.

I'm tempted to call them, but suspect I'll get a blank response.

      • when did you submmit it ?

    • I submitted on Jan 11th.
Called them last week and they mentioned that they have entered applications only till Jan10th.

  • On 22 Jan they emailed me saying they received my application. That is the only correspondence I've had. However, I expect it will take them a few months to credit me.

  • I got my cash back last week. Yay

    • Hi, did you get any correspondence from them?
