I got the strimmer and blower in a previous deal and am very pleased with the strimmer but I find the blower runs out of good blowing power in about a minute and just decreases, it works ok and carries on blowing for a while but not very powerfully after that minute. Going to try to get the Ryobi 5.ah to replace

    • Ryobi blower defnately more powerful

This sort of swift response to competitors shows that how big really is the margin they are enjoying.

    • On majority of products Margins are 100% minimum imo, they wouldn't be able cover costs of such large premises/workers etc.. if the margins where small

Which one discounted first? I think Bunnings responded to Masters.

Always seems that Bunning just react to masters.
Bunning doesn't do catalogue specials…..their catalogues are just advertising at normal prices.
They rarely do sorxials unless it's a clearance item.
These weekend deals between Bunning and Masters is awesome.
Finally bunnings have some competition, but doesn't look like masters will be around for too long

Yeh, and if Masters continues to do as poorly as it is, we'll be in a terrible position…

None of the other guys even bother (as if they could though..) to challenge Bunnings.

100%, bunnings didn't post a $1 billion dollar profit by providing cheap prices, they provided cheap products at 'fair' value.

    • Retail always has large margins on the end product. They are the ones covering 'retail' stores, staff, fitout, carrying the stock ready for sale. This all costs LOTS of money.

    • Ryobi = bunnings exclusive
      B&D = masters exclusive

They can set whatever price they want and still make a profit.

Half of the discount will be funded by suppliers… Retailers only loss some of the margin in dollars but their margin percentage is still the same e.g. 100%

  • bigW seemed to be also selling Black & Decker tools half price. they had the leaf blower and vac for about $40. its a plugin lead type though. they dont carry much stock. saw a hedge trimmer and circular saw, all half price.
    website only shows the sander

  • Got the blower and hedge trimmer in the last deal. Very happy. Great price.

Thanks, picked up the lopper. Very handy, nothing as powerful for thicker branches in the Bunnings Ryobi sale at $99.

    • Never seen one of these before, looking like a chainsaw with a guard on it. I am wondering if this is a decent upgrade from my electric chainsaw

      • Actually a good design clamps the branch to chainsaw it. The service guy couldn't believe it was down to $99 when he scanned it to check for me. Not so much fuss on this Masters Black and Decker deal but looks good imo.

        • I also noted that most of the items have a 2Ah battery where Ryobi has 1.5. So at least to paper could be better

        • @Jackson: The lopper came with a 1.5 but should be ok for my purposes. Looks like a pretty safe way to chainsaw small to medium branches.
