Apple iPad Air 2 Smart Case - $49 - Telstra Shop - 62% off Apple RRP

150

Offical Apple iPad Air 2 Smart Case

$49 from the Telstra shop. $129 from Apple and other retailers. No idea why they are selling them for so cheap. Yes the image says iPad Air smart case, I can confirm it is for the second Gen. If you look at the bar code on the back of the package it says for iPad Air (2nd generation). My local Telstra store had blue, black, red and brown in stock. Assuming it is Australia wide as they weren't marked down, just ticketed at $49. I bought the midnight blue for my iPad Air 2 and can upload the receipt if people need it.

Here is my receipt: http://imgur.com/hv4fsF5

Too expensive for a case that can only protect one side of the device, guess its not so smart at all. I got a few of this case for the mini for $3 from big w but cant trust them enough to use on my ipad.

Um the case covers the whole body. You are thinking of the Smart Cover which is just the front. Also these are leather.

Does it, sorry for my ignorant.

          Ignorance* ;)

        • @watty:

          Not necessarily :).

          "Sorry for my ignorant post."

  • I'm looking for a decent protective cover for my parents iPad Air 2. Is the Smart Case a good option or is there better bang-for-buck at this price?

Not looking for full on otterbox waterproof or indestructible but something that gives good protection for when it is stuffed into a bag or bumped off the table / chair.

Sry: edit Smart Case not Smart Cover.

Personally I love the smart case. The leather feels nice and it covers every part of the device when closed. I've dropped my iPad in a smart case before and I was surprised at the protection it offered. At $49 I think it's a great buy for a real leather case, at $129 I think it is way too overpriced. Looks and feels good, works as a stand and wakes the iPad when opened. Decent value to me.

        Yep, I agree.

Always thought they were overpriced, but finally got one - as soon as you snap it on, you can tell that they're made to a really precise fit, adding minimal weight and thickness, with all holes perfectly aligned.

And the leather ages well, just gradually getting a gently distressed look as it accumulates bumps, scratches etc.

My daughters third party case for her iPad Mini was a third of the cost, but a fifth of the appeal and utility.

    • For cheaper and more protection, you missed out on the logitech any angle on sale at Dick Smith at $20 that expired few days ago.

      • I bought 2 anyangle cases and got rid of them due to the size
the air 2 is supposed to be thin and lightweight but that case made it into ipad one weight/size or worse

I got a generic version of this case from dick smith for $10 on special
It is made by a company called 'Move' and is way better value than this deal if available (not leather)

    • Pink only left.

    • That was for their eBay store. No mention of in store on that bargain and as stated only pink left. Hopefully people are able to head into their local Telstra store and pick up the colour of their choice.

OP can you upload the receipt? Maybe Officeworks will price match and beat it by 5% with proof :)

    • Just edited the post to include my receipt for you. :)

      • +1

        Thanks!

Using a combination of screenshots, receipts and the ebay site I managed to get OW to pricematch and take off 5%.

No stock in any of my local Telstra shops, so this was the only way to do it.

JB told me to go buy it at Telstra and wouldn't even consider price matching it because it was an Apple product with no margin.

        • Nice work!

Are the Air and Air 2 cases the same?

    • +1

No. The holes don't line up the same.

      • Thanks.👍

Just bought it with no dramas at Officeworks Fyshwick (ACT), showed receipt uploaded.

Their price was still $129, so with match price and guarantee I got it for $46.55.

Thanks OP, wish I could vote you twice (once for post, once for receipt).
