don't forget to buy extended warranty, you never know what happens to these TVs.

DS may not be around long enough to honor the warranty though.

      • Retailers are just agents for companies offering 'extended warranty' insurance service. Your contract is with the latter, not the former.
I believe DS are agents for The Warranty Group Australasia (TWGAU).

        • Yes DSE is an agent of TWGAU but has DSE sent payment thru to TWGAU on your behalf to Honour the warranty

    • allot of credit cards give free extended warranty so check as this may already be available free :)

I'd be careful buying anything which is not in stock and is to be shipped out. If you still wanted to buy something I'd pay with PayPal as they have refunded orders for companies which have gone into administration. If not make sure you know what protections your bank will provide you.

      • yep paypal claim in atm

  • Please include shipping in your title. There is no click and collect.

Trading Halt = Receivership = Wind Up = Closing Down by the middle of the year!
A little bit smaller but a better panel and warranty will actually apply: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228829

You linked a FHD(1080P) TV whilst this is a UHD(2160P) TV.

        • Good spotting and true, but I still wouldn't be tempted buying this as there is no physical stock in Aus (you'd need to pay PayPal to maximise your chances of a refund) and a name brand panel would still be more than sufficient.

Came here to post that. If buying, buy in store (I wouldn't trust them online)

  • Unable to locate specs / reviews on this item … can somebody help?

  • Another cheapie Tempo/Yale Prima TV chinese rebrand (JVC, Hitachi, Telefunken et all)

Looks to be the same interface recent Bauhn TVs - http://www.powerland.com.au/akai-55-series-f-uhd-smart-led-t…
Even the shape and leg placement looks the same.

Are Dick's gift cards accepted anywhere else? Need to offload before it's too late!

    • its an online deal only
don't waste your time buying it
probably coming by boat by the time dickies shuts up shop

  • Not considering purchasing a crapola TV, just need to know whether I need to buy something at Dick with a gift card I have or whether I can use it elsewhere..?

    • I think you're out of luck. I hope your card didn't have too much in value.

      • about $90 from memory. Been watching this train wreck unfold throughout the day, the thing that sh1ts me the most is I bought the original item with an Everyday gift card but they refunded me with a Dick card. I told the staff member that I should be refunded like for like but he was like, 'don't worry you can use the Dick card at Woolies'. I Shouldn't have believed him.

        • You might have a case against Woolworths then. Did you keep the receipt?

        • @wizzlesticks: Probs not for Woolies, def for Dick.
Woolies have no control over what someone at Dick says so I seriously doubt they would honour it.
          You live and you learn.

        • @rogsamsy: I see what you mean now. You returned an item at Dick's for a Dick card. Damn.

Makes me want to go and spend all my gift cards now. Don't want to be holding on to them just in case another surprise retailer joins the party.

  • Ask your banks for charge back and if you have paid with cc, you could try to ask your cc company to get a refund . Here is link for it : http://www.afr.com/business/retail/customers-with-dick-smith…

Also, a gift card app company probably able to help honour your gift card
