Gee this'll scare blind the thieves!

      • Was looking at this yesterday but choose not to as that lumen is only about the same as a 20W incandescent.

          Mood lighting for thieves.

    • I take this is not bright enough…is there another alternative?

Just the LED needs an upgrade it looks. The solar panel should be fine for a 60W-equivalent LED (~9W) to come on from a sensor. Not sure why the incredibly weak 20W-equivalent (~3W) LED

@jasecs: The first one (2x 60 LED Ultra Bright). It has about 60W (incandescent equivalent) lumens. Very bright. No reason to have a duller light in there.

Obviously as you can see, it costs twice as much as this one. Though, it is much brighter! The panel is better too. Probably means it is larger physically. For some reason they want to make sure it can be turned on 72 times in a single night, which seems excessive, but who cares :)

That second link gives a bigger battery and much weaker light. Why? Well it can run for 8 hours — that is, designed to run all night long non-stop rather than sensor. Completely different purpose.

Basically, just go by the # of lumens and make sure it's a sensor-based activation if that's what you want.

FYI, I ripped open some of these and the batteries are just AA's (200mah @ 1.2V). The first link is a 5-pack of those. The second link is a 6-pack of those. If you want to do a DIY mod to these guys, just replace with some Eneloop's and upgrade the LED manually — which is what I meant in my first post. Eneloop's give you 10x more battery storage (overkill, I know).

Edit: Found this which seems better again: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1150-Lumens-Sensor-Security-Flood… 100W-equivalent, bigger battery, bigger panel, same price.

        • @xsacha:

@xsacha Thanks! but the links I posted are for 2…so they are quite cheap ~$30+ each. Yea I was thinking to replace lithium rechargeables lool. Thanks alot for your help!!!

        • @jasecs: Oh yeah I didn't realise you get 2. Cheap then :)

  • +1

    all three offers expire 13/1.

    • not sure if you can get 10% off that start 11/01

      • +1

10% off barcode is reported to be already live, despite start date of the 11th Jan.

  • Thank goodness Bright is in their name, otherwise anyone would think these lights have high illumination.

  • cheaper on ebay.

  • Fwiw, we replaced our existing arlec 50w x 2 with one of these ones from Masters and can confirm that the light output is very comparable, if not brighter, and alot whiter too.

One thing to note, these lights once mounted, only pivot up and down. They will not pivot side to side without modification.

Looks like you can get them on ebay, though for the sake of $2, warranty will work better with Masters than an ebay store.
