  • I'm guessing if Wishcards are excluded so are the Groupon one's too.

    • +3

They mean you can't buy wish cards using the 10% off. You can still pay for items with them, using the 10% off.

  • How often do they have 10% that applies to appliances as well?

    • I have never seen 10% appliances. The best way to get discounts off appliances is to get them on clearance, either through the website. Or better, by going to your local Masters (as the website is hardly reliable for clearance items)

      • +4

I seem to recall some 10% vouchers posted here that will work on appliances as well, can't remember which one though as there are so many of these 10% on and off.

        • +1

Bought a fridge for 10% off with a voucher.

    • +1

Apparently one of the recent catalogues had a voucher on it for 10% off appliances. Overheard one of the floor staff say this to someone trying to bargain down an appliance over the weekend.think it has expired though. Best bet is to get them to price match.

    • few weeks back, ebay had 15% off with pick up from stores. It included appliances as well.

      • +1

You wont be able to use the gift cards (7.5-10% OFF) and ebay's range of products is pathetic

  • A Weber bbq wouldn't be counted as an appliance would it?

    • +2

No, a Weber falls under Garden & Outdoor Living > BBQs & Outdoor Cooking

  • +2

How do I use this in a store?

    • -1

Commenting for an answer as well.

    • +1

Maybe able to enter the number off the barcode on self serve registers.

      • +1

        Yes. That will work.

      • +1

Self serve has an option for lay people to type in a barcode manually - think the button says says unknown item or unscannable item.

    • +9

Print off this image, you will be able to scan it at the self-serve register. Last time I tried it at the normal register, the checkout chick told me that she needed to keep the receipt after she scanned it so my piece of paper with a barcode on it would not work.
      Source.

      • +2

Thanks cymon used that barcode successfully at the self serve register yesterday, no probs at all! Going back today for some Bosch cordless tools

      • +2

Also successfully used a print of your bar code image at the self serve registers yesterday - thank you cymon.

    • +16

Did you read the dates on the deal?

  • Bummer, just bought something for $150 without code. Ah well, it was on special. If it still is on special on the 11th I'll try to talk them into refunding the difference based on their 30 day price guarantee.

    • -8

Really? Over $15? Go mow your neighbours lawn or something. Probably take you less time and you'll get $30 out of it instead of $15, plus a bit of exercise and sunshine.

      • +22

You better return your OzBargain membership with this attitude.

  • I give Masters a yr at most if they can't turn things around

    • Masters is for homeowners who want quality stuff. Bunnings is for tradies. Which has a bigger market. Enough said.

      • -1

That means nothing if they are loosing hundreds of millions and killing woollies at the same time, we all know Bunnings has heaps more top brands than masters

      • -2

Masters is definitely not quality stuff.

      • +1

Quality stuff? LOL. Nothing but cheap crap there. Only thing I've bought there that is decent is my Weber.

    • +1

Yet they are still building them. New one about to start goinng up at Bennetts Green (Newcastle).

  • Again! I was expecting this. Thanks.

  • +1

am surprised on the popularity of this deal.

masters regularly offer 10% for next purchase printed on the docket. they also participate in ebay promotions for as high as 20% off.

  • +1

"For an extra 7.5% discount purchase a gift card through Groupon"

Anyone done this with recent 10% deals?

    • +2

Yes, many times. Gift card is a form of payment and discounts are on the item. They are not connected. The 10% discount will work on all items except for the ones mentioned in the post.

      • Thank you

      • +1

        Thanks @frazell008!

      • I assume you can also use multiple gift cards?

  • +1

Between the 10% discount dockets from Woolworths and 10% off store wide specials at Masters, it appears to me the store is selling at a discount more often than at full price. Customers are being actively encouraged to not shop during 'normal' times.

    • The last time i bought stuff from masters without 10% off i felt really silly even though the stuff i bought was well priced (little DIY outdoor storage, went to bunnings first). So yeah you're right. Unless it's clearance, i only really buy from masters using a code.

    • I think this deal is designed to actively get customers to return more regularly. It is always said that customers shop 2-3 times a year for Home Improvement items, this gets them back into the store spending again quickly.

      • True. I have spent over $3500 on decking material last month, which could mostly go to Bunnings if without the 10% off + 7.5% giftcard deals.

Got to say the most common response I heard from Masters was "I am not so sure, let me find someone for you", which is quite different from Bunnings' staff. But with such big discount, I don't mind the hassle to find good advice from Bunnings and come back to Masters.

  • It's been a long time between drinks this time around Masters!

  • Be careful not to stock up on gift cards, or use them quickly, February may be decision time for Masters and its future.

All these promotions and discounts won't help bottom line. even when i go shopping at Woolies i sometimes get a discount coupon. Its almost hard not to buy at retail there at the moment.

    • +1

Good, I have been waiting on a Masters decision so I can make a decision on their share price.

    • +2

Hope they have a firesale just like Dick Smith

    • Joking? I'm pretty sure you could have confidence in a wish gift card being able to be used until it's expiry.

      • I'm not sure if you heard but since going into administration, DSE isn't honoring previously made deposits or gift cards - horrible stuff for consumers.

Sitting here with $300 in Groupon Mastgers eGift credit and a printout of the coupon shared on this page, I'm hoping like heck there will be no similar Masters announcements prior to 11 Jan when I race in to make my purchase.

        • Unless you think ww is about to go into administration I think you will be OK.

        • surely if masters goes under then Woolies will honour their cards… everyone associate woolies with masters so it will be a bad look for them.

The promo code isn't working for online orders

    • +2

Promo code is in bold: Starts Mon 11th JAN until 17th JAN - NOT VALID NOW

    • A good OzBargainer knows his/hers T&C :)

  • +2

Brace yourselves for the Bunnings v Masters slag fest.

    • -5

      Bunnings is better :p

  • What about custom kitchens?

  • Would a vacuum cleaner be considered an appliance by them? It seems to be which is a bit strange as appliances make me think of hair dryers and kettles.

On another note, has anyone ever haggled at Master's?

    • i would assume so. Lady said appliances include cooktops and ovens

  • Just bought a 10c PVC connector and got a 10% discount receipt for next week.

  • Do you think this would apply to kitchen purchases? (like cabinets, benchtop etc). Not appliances

    • +1

Kitchens (Profile range) are on sale from today in Vic (not sure about other states), 10% off till next Wed.
See last page in Catalogue http://masters.smedia.com.au/olive/ode/MSTVIC/
Includes Doors, Panels, Cabinets and Drawers (would assume it excludes Benchtops)

  • The barcode is already active in stores for those who are waiting till next week. You also get the proper barcode on your new receipt. This is the standard masters 10% off code

    • Damn it the code isn't working online yet - even though it sounds like it works instore already.
Do you actually need a barcode to buy at 10% in-store? I shop at woolworths all the time I never see a Masters discount on the receipts
Edit: maybe this will work https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228794#comment-3351147

      • I don't always scan a barcode. I type in the code manually at the self check outs. Never had and issue.

As pformagg done, purchase a 10cent item to get a receipt with the 10% barcode then shop again.

        • Awesome that it works in store. Shall have a go at it later.

        • @Hunnypooh:

Yep it works, i saved the barcode from the above link to my phone.
It didn't scan on the self check out, the assistant came over and helped me type it in and it gave me 10% off everything

        • +1

@ezza: yeaps. did the same myself and got myself the deluxe grill so it's some bbq time now and less ozb time (who am I kidding)

    • Wish it works online too. Got my eye on few things on sale.

      • It will work online, starting from tomorrow. Use the code hardware

        • +2

just tried it, the code is not working.

"We're sorry but we were unable to validate your promotional code.
Please check that the code you are trying to use is entered correctly and has been activated or is still active.

If there is still an issue, please contact our customer support team on 1300 337 707. "

        • +1

@aussie216618: +1 I am having the same issue

  • Also you can get 7.5% off gift cards through cashrewards as well, these are Masters only not Wish. But a better turnaround time than Groupon (12hours instead of 2-4 business days)

    • I thought cash rewards was finished a few days ago

      • +1

No I successfully received a $300 card for $277.50 Masters egiftcard yesterday.. I think it's the 7.5% Wish Gift Cards that expired off Cash Rewards a few days back..

        • Still working at approx 1am this morning.
Edit: And a 3 hour turnaround for me!

  • can you get them to price match something and then use this for 10% off?

    • +2

No, once price matched you can not use any other discount such trade card, or 10%. But you can still pay with gift card, so you still get a extra 7.5% off after price match

  • +2

Used the 10% off code today by typing it in on self checkout. Got one of those Charcoal BBQ's mentioned in another deal reduced from $181 to $150 and then down to $135 after the code. Happy with that :-)

    • Good buy!

  • anyone having issues logging in properly with the masters website?

Accepts password but MyAccount, Shopping Cart etc..wont function.

  • No probs logging in on this end strat.

However the online discount code doesn't seem to work as yet.

    Getting the following message:

We're sorry but we were unable to validate your promotional code.
Please check that the code you are trying to use is entered correctly and has been activated or is still active.

If there is still an issue, please contact our customer support team on 1300 337 707.

  • +2

    IT seems not working today

    • +1

Just tried it now on some carpet, not working for me either. Will try again after 9am.

  • +3

Yes, I've tried a couple of times through the night and again this morning to no avail. But I was smart enough to grab a Masters Wish gift card with the 7.5% off through Cashrewards last night… so it's ready to go now!!!

    • +1

Anyone know how to use a Masters Gift card (purchased through Groupon) online?

It's asking for a card number and PIN, but all I see on my voucher is security code, voucher code and deal ID?

      • Not exactly sure about Groupon as I have one through Cashrewards and also Scoopon, but it sounds like you only have the Groupon voucher and not the actual gift card. It should have an 'In-store' code, an 'Online' code, as well as a PIN on the voucher! (We're still waiting on another of the Scoopon $100 cards for $90 deals through Scoopon, and their voucher is obviously useless!)

      • +1

That's the Groupon voucher not the Master's one. You'll get another email with the Master's coupon in 2-4 business days.

        • Ah thanks, just went back in read the terms and that's it. A bit confusing!

  • did u purchase last night? and received gc today from them?

    • Purchased at 1:18am, received invoice at 2:25am, and gift card at 3:12am!
Cashrewards discount takes you direct to everdaygiftcards site. It says approx 12 hour turnaround, but obviously a lot quicker than that.
Just need the bloody Masters discount code to start working now!!!

Edit: Should point out that obviously it's an 'e'giftcard!!!

  • you will receive gc from wollies a few days later. not the one you received from Groupon. read the conditions

    • The E-GiftCards from the everdaygiftcards site, linked through from Cashrewards for the 7.5% off are sent via email within hours… not days!

  • +5

CASHREWARDS 7.5% OFF MASTERS E GIFT CARD HAS NOT YET EXPIRED, and you'll get it within hours!!!
    http://www.cashrewards.com.au/masters-store-egift-cards

Ps. You may have trouble doing it from your phone… I did (Galaxy S6)!

    • Be aware:
Took over 27 hours to get the Masters eGift card for me. Apparently a stone age system exits at Woolies.
      Ordered 9:45am Monday 11 Jan 16
      Received 12:15pm Tuesday 12 Jan 16

The promoted advantage of Woolies eGift Cards of "Fast delivery" seems not to be accurate. My confirmation email said "Your order is being processed and will be distributed shortly. Please allow up to 12 hours for delivery of eGift Cards."
The Status constantly remained as 'Payment pending'. No other organisation has had problems with the credit card I used.

Co-incidentally I ordered a Coles eGift card through C'wealth Award points - the Coles eGift card came within minutes.

This morning I sent Woolies Money an email about the delay. When hours passed with no response I then phoned 02 8885 0000 - I got advised all Woolies Money lines were busy. My details were taken for call back. Finally the email came at 12:15pm - no call.

Fortunately none of the Masters clearance items in my cart had sold out meantime.

      • Wow… I purchased mine at 1:18am, received invoice at 2:25am, and the gift card at 3:12am!

  • The code isn't working online

  • +1

    Code not working online

  • Hey guys… the code isn't working online!!!!!!!!! ;)
