Great deal, thanks OP. Anyone know if this model is made in China or Germany?

    • +1

Almost certainly China. Would suspect would still be well made, and a good price, although personally the whole concept of having to buy bags sucks (pun intended).

      • This seems to answer the question

Miele told me the lower end models are still made in germany.

The S3 series are assembled in China. Godfreys and the Vac shop have exclusive models which are not listed on the Miele website. Some of those models are assembled in China.

        S 2000, S 4000, S 5000 and the S 7 upright are all made in Germany.

        • Cool, although a lot can happen in the nearly 4 years since that post was written. Either way, I still suspect that it probably won't really matter that much even if they are now made in China - Miele like to protect their name so would likely closely monitor the quality of the stuff coming out of the factories so that it is similar (if not quite as good) as the stuff coming out of Germany.

@PlasticSpaceman: Literally bought one a week ago for this price, stacked with $25 voucher, paid $252 (RRP on box is $699). Can confirm it is made in China, as per botton of unit (could have sworn this series was made in Germany, suspecting manufacturing moved over to China with the upgrade from S5211 to S5212).

To give y'all a brief review of the unit, it is certainly worth the money spent. Well made, well designed, and sucks twice as good as my old Wertheim, which was a decent machine in itself. I say if anyone is on the fence, at this price, pull the trigger.

Made in China. I bought this vacuum from Harvey Norman last week.

      • Do you like it?

        • Not an expert on vacs, but it does the job. I've had no problems with it. Suction is strong, the build quality seems good.

  • Who can find the best deal for genuine replacement bags?

    • 700w vs 2200w for starters
      Check miele site for details

    • Just to note, in my rather extensive search for a replacement vacuum for new home, I found the lower the wattage by no way equals a lesser product.

  • i picked this up for $197 last week from harvey norman. they must have put the price up.

    • Wow that is cheap, sure it was the same model?

      • +1

yeah its the same model. i think they got the price between the c2 and this mixed up.
