This morning, Qatar Airways launched a brand-new companion sale on economy and business class flights to Europe and the UK.

I'll be honest, I don't know when I last saw Qatar offering prices this low. My research found that prices are up to 51% lower than those being charged by other airlines at this time.

Prices on the 5-star carrier start from as little as $1157 to mainland Europe (Budapest) or $1295 to Edinburgh in the UK (all prices are return, including tax) when two people book and travel together.

Examples of return prices from Perth include:

  • Edinburgh … from $1295
  • Manchester … from $1300
  • London Heathrow … from $1355

Flights from Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney are also discounted and are not much more than the above. Qatar now operates 1-stop flights from all four cities.

Business class companion fares are also on sale at the following prices (from Perth):

  • Edinburgh … from $6460
  • Manchester … from $6465
  • London … from $6520

Valid for economy and business class travel on select dates from January 19 until May 27 and from August 3 until November 25.

Book by January 17.

Discounted fares for solo travellers are also available and start from just $1490 (economy) and $6780 (business), return, including tax.

  • seems cheap.
    What makes them 5 star?

    • +4

      The title? :P

    • +5

      They're better than 4-star

      Skytrax ratings most likely:

      http://www.airlinequality.com/ratings/5-star-airline-ratings…

I've flown them before and they were pretty good although Doha airport was terrible. They've since opened the Hamad International Airport though.

      • +3

Yep only downer is you gotta fly through Middle East

        • +1

Been through Hamad twice. Fantastic airport - but huge!!!

      • Flew with them a few weeks ago to Europe. Doha airport is really nice and if you have a long stopover you can pay US$35 for a bed and access to a pool, spa and sauna! Airline itself is pretty good. Wide selection of entertainment but the legroom on the Dreamliner in economy leaves a lot to be desired. Some genius decided to put a metal box under each seat so your right leg can't stretch out properly!

    Hi PVA

Skytrax (TripAdvisor for flights) calls them 5-star and voted them the best airline in the world so that's what I'm basing my comment off:

    Hope this helps.

Recently did DOH to PER in J (Bus. Class) on Qatar, excellent seat, service, wine and food, plus the massive airline lounge in Doha was fantastic. QR is a highly recommended airline IMO - and i've done J or most of major airlines.

Thanks TravelzooAU. I received your email this morning and just booked 2 return tickets to Europe and saved $600 minimum. Outstanding!

    Those business class prices.. yikes.

    • Well yes if your paying for it, but I used purchased AA Advantage miles to Europe on QF/CX (Cathay Pacific) via Hong Kong (stop) to Paris (stop) returning on Qatar via Doha/Perth (both stops) then QF to BNE, cost was AUD$2800 per pax x 2!! not $8K each. Trick is you need experience to find sectors and book the award flights and its legal too. Just booked two in J BNE/HKG/BNE on CX $1750 each

      • Haha yes I am quite familiar with all that stuff (I'm assuming you are familiar with PointHacks?) - but it doesn't stop me from being shocked by the real cash prices!

When you say $2800, that is factoring in the taxes you had to pay as well as the cost of the points you bought?

        • AA miles purchase inc exchange rate of about AUD$0.72 to USD$1 at time, 7.5% USA Fed Tax all converted to AUD $2800. So for 2 in J all the way was AUD$5600 saved about $10K. AA miles be a tad more going on exchange rate today but still a bargain.

i buy points/miles when the deals are on, AA have one near every month, Dec last was up to 115K free current offer is up to 50%.

Yes know pointhacks.com.au an excellent site, I mostly live on AFF though only since 2003!

Another is AS miles, Alaska Airlines done 3 J trips through them all on CX.

Getting back to current QR offer, its a good one in Y (Economy) but not my go long haul.

        • @Foxtail:

Wasn't that itinerary 60,000 points each way with AA (120k total per person in J)?

        • nah booked originally using US Airways miles (USDM) in Jan 2015 which later became AA miles after merger. Cant remember how many points but remember the price. It included 2 stopovers less than 24 hours in HKG and DOH. Destination was CDG (Paris). If it was originally AA miles then it would have been 2 sectors each way and more miles.

I think you got the travel dates wrong, it says in the info:
"Economy Class are for low season departures only from 19th January to 23rd March 2016 or 28th September to 30th November 2016 and Business Class from 19th January to 27th May or 3rd August to 30th November 2016."

Flown Qatar a couple of times. Great service, zero issues, Doha is a decent airport.
Some good prices here as far as I can see, MEL -> LON.

  • Has anyone been able to combine the offer with the Up to 10% off Paypal offer. I can't even find any dates with a discount with just the code.
