      Nice anagram username lol…

      • thank man, unicorn going to pub, sounds healthy isnt it?

I know it's bad, but I'd laugh if they pull a Dick Smith and just go into receivership and take the whole site offline lol

    • what you mean by pull a dick smith?…..sorry bad english here 0 0

    • but the dick smith store is not offline… in fact it's still having "big sales"! (but whether buyers will receive the ordered items is probably another story….)

  • This is comical….how often do we see these price mistakes and everyone arguing and claiming ACCC or Paypal will cover them. Nonsense. Retailers are well within their legal right to refuse to honour a sale based on a pricing error. We've seen it so many times in the past.

    • If they have stock you have already entered a contractual agreement and according to ACCC they're meant to honor it, though I doubt ACCC would ever back you in such a situation. The contractual agreement also isn't set in stone until the items sent out.

As they don't have stock (out of stock/waiting on stock/pre-order) you've yet entered a fix contractual sale agreement and it therefore isn't covered by consumer laws.

tl;dr: it's at no point covered under consumer law as the sale isn't considered final until the goods are sent out, similar to how it's not considered final until you're walking out of a shop with the item after paying.

  • -1

Just placed an order with Paypal, pay after delivery, see how it goes, but most likely it won't be honored.

  • -3

Can anyone tell me Does this support MacBook Pro 15" 2012..

  • +4

I wouldn't really do this unless you're loaded with spare cash and don't mind the refund processing times.

They'll definitely cancel the order but the problem is when you're going to get your money back.

Some I've read here don't even get their money back for weeks :/

    • +6

I'm astonished at the number of people who made orders, it's like "you have to be in it to win it" but there's nothing to win in the first place. Being realistic is sensible in this case, price errors like the Sony power bank by jbhifi a while back are ones you cross your fingers for, not when there's about a $800 price difference xD

    • On the bright side this isn't $1000 or $10000, I think most people who can afford browsing Ozbargain have a spare $100 to be temporarily held.

      • I get anxiety when even a dollar is held!

        • Then you probably should avoid the world of impulse buys lol…

        • @clse945111: only online, in cash it's fine ;P

  • Pricing Policy
Techbuy.com.au pricing reflects the competitive nature of the I.T. industry and therefore is carefully monitored by our sales team to provide our customers with the latest, competitive prices. All of our prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST (Goods and services tax) as of 1st July 2000. Product prices are dynamically updated by our in house purchasing system when price changes are received from our suppliers.
For any products marked as 'Pre-Order', 'Order-In' or out of stock, prices may change between when you place your order and when the actual product becomes available. Techbuy will try to absorb any price differences when possible, but if this is not economically possible will have to pass the price variation on.

Sorry guys, no way in hell this will be honored. Way I read this the pricing error comes from the supplier and has been automatically passed on, though will be corrected before anything is sent out.

  • +1

Just out of curiosity, what makes you guys buy something that you clearly know is a price error. It's just too good to be true but still so many of you ordered. Is it because of the fear or missing out or something else?

    • Probably because they can't help themselves and need to spend money, knowing that it will come back to them. However not realising it might cost them more in the long run.

    • Some price errors do end up being honoured, it's just rare.

TB might offer a coupon or store credit or something…

      • +1

Hoping for a coupon is fair, but the super rare chance of it being honoured was thrown out the door when it was posted on ozbargain. People bought multiple units for both their personal use and for brodening. Every 10 units is roughly $8000 lost, so ask yourself would you honour this sale being the seller? xD

        • No way!

    • +2

      I'll say it. Greed. :)

  • Wow… 128gb. Perfect for future proofed RAMDISK gaming. If you don't play games on RAMDISK you don't know what you are missing.

  • Screw it, bought on the off chance they honour it.

  • Posting a price error here and getting hundreds of people to buy is a sure fire way to get it dishonoured.

Seriously, if you find a price error just use it yourself and don't tell anyone about it! Better one person gets it than none :)

  • Maby they are doing this for some form of Marketing.

Sneaky way to get thousands of visits and cost them nothing

  • +3

It's going to be entertaining when the guy that bought ten gets actually gets his order… And receives only one cos that's probably the real price.

  • Thanks bought 10
Wonder if that guy really bought 10 i mean cmon

  • Wow mwave price $1600

    • +1

That raises the question on how they made the error to be 92.65? seems like even at 926.50 its still a bargain? lol

  • +22

Guys, anyone who has paid them money might be in for some trouble, hope you used PayPal

20/12/2015 - Following the announcement of the
placement of Tech Buy Pty Ltd into receivership, > the ACCC has been working with other Australian > Consumer Law regulators including ASIC to
    provide information to affected consumers.

    Link..

      Well played Sir, well played

  • +1

Too hard to resist. Have an X99 board with 8 slots. Lets see what happens.

    Oh zeggie… :)

  • So, I have checked their policies - http://www.techbuy.com.au/policies.asp
Mentions nothing about pricing error or they reserve the rights to refund any orders under pricing error.

    By ACCC standards: https://www.lawanswers.com.au/blog/australian-consumer-law-r…
"A seller can’t attempt to correct the error or claw back any money after they have processed your sale and accepted payment, as the transaction (and the contract) is deemed complete at this point."

    Also: https://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices
"It is illegal for a business to make claims to customers about its goods or services—including claims about price—that are incorrect or likely to create a false impression. This includes advertisements or statements in any media (e.g. print, radio, television or online) and any claim made by a person representing your business.

Intention is irrelevant. You may breach the law even if you thought the statement was correct when you made it."

So technically, if we all took this complaint to ACCC if they do not honor, we would be able to win. As long as they have it in stock they have to honor the sales which has gone through. If they run out of stock a refund can be provided.

Anyways, brought it for shitz and gigglez

    • +1

Yeah the number of people who have mentioned ACCC are kidding themselves. Is it worth your time complaining? If you say you do then go for it, get ready for a prolonged and disappointing road that eventually would have ended up the same as a paypal refund. ACCC standards are flawed, the number of times money has been taken and no goods were provided due various reasons is countless hence why paypal is so popular.

That part is open for interpretation - "including claims about price" as it could mean the business is advertising their price of item(s) is the best around or something. But human error could be an acceptable and most likely given answer to that.

Your last point is spot on, they will run out of stock (or claim to have ran out). But if you took the complaint to ACCC good luck to you because if it did work I would have been holding a brand new iphone 6s for $1 :)

No shitz and gigglez here I think your intentions were appropriate but let's face it, we all know what's happening just how bad it will be is something I'm curious to find out. Noticed a comment above stated they have been placed in receivership but not so sure that's confirmed.

      • +1

Did you actually click on the link below the comment about the receivership :)

        • Yeah I just did, it turned out to be a joke lol! But my thoughts on ACCC involvement still stands. Really do think legislation in regards to online purchases need to be tightened up. Too much room for online businesses to drop their game and to then shrug it off with no repercussions.

        • +1

@watty: Can't get the damn song never give you up out of my head now lol.

      • Yeah @watty - you are right.. the online rules are not tightened enough and definitely there are loop-holes for the vendors to get out of.
I think it is a waste of time with ACCC as they will just say - "Was there any harm or damage to you or your business because of this false advertisement?"
Unless you can prove that there are damage done.. then I think you don't have a case.

I was just merely pointing out facts =]

    • +4

You are kidding yourself. This has happened hundreds of times before and the pricing error is rarely honoured where it's clearly a totally unreasonable price. The ACCC is not interested and if you want a quote form them, look here:

'Yesterday, the ACCC said it did not intervene in disputes when there was "a genuine error or minimal consumer detriment".'

      Source: http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/hometech/500-sweetener-fo…

    • +1

Your keyboard lawyering is poor martindktran. Start at Austlii and you'll see there are numerous cases and case law that uphold that pricing errors are not valid contracts/void contracts.

    • ACCC does not have any power. According to Lysander you may have a chance by taking it to QCAT (or it's equivalent):

Well I wasn't going to bother, but the price is still $92. :|

Really don't expect anything to come from this. I doubt Tech Buy can absorb a loss in the tens of thousands.

  • No Longer Available !

Now to sit and watch the shitstorm unfold lol

    • Missed by seconds completing checkout. Thank you dodgy Optus coverage!

  • +1

just got my refund… at least they are quick to refund…

    • They'll have a LOT of extra admin work to do this week

  • +2

Yeap just received my refund aswell, at least it was fun while it lasted!!

    • yes, it was a fun trip.

  • Refund received

  • -7

Wow, bummer about getting a refund. I just got shipping confirmation. What time did you guys order?

    • +4

      Things that never happened

    • +4

      LOL, sorry, I couldn't help myself :)

  • Lol, I like their email.

"The G.Skill supplier has informed us this morning that they had provided incorrect pricing concerning this G.Skill 128GB memory, the current pricing cannot be honoured and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by this."

Blame the supplier, surely they should have realised the price was incorrect, before posting it.

    • Depends on who put it up. Someone not 100% familiar with PC parts mightn't have thought twice about it. Might even be automated somewhat and it did come through from G.Skill in correctly.

Ah well. Worth a shot. :)

      • You'd hope they only hire people who are at least somewhat familiar with PC parts…

  • this is price error at the very beginning, remove this list and also remove out of stock header

  • Receieved an order cancellation email stating pricing error. It was worth a shot lol

  • Anyone not got their email?

    • Got it.

  • Told you's so had absolutely zero chance of getting this from the blatant massive pricing error. Some of us actually had some common sense.

    • +1

oh relax, it was a bit of fun.

    • -2

Yet I've lost nothing by trying.

You on the other hand seem really mad.

  • Should you still wish to continue with the order, please contact Techbuy Support on 02 9648 1818.

Please do not reply to this email unless the cancellation is incorrect as replying may re-activate the order.

    • +1

LOL replying re-activates the order but probably at full price. Good one.

      • You seem to be hating on every aspect of this deal but haven't negged it. Also they can't charge you more as you have paid the amount, not authorised a payment.

  • Dear Professional OzBargainer,

The G.Skill supplier has informed us this morning that they had provided incorrect pricing concerning this G.Skill 128GB memory, the current pricing cannot be honoured and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

This email is to confirm the cancellation of Techbuy Order Number XXXXXX.

If this is incorrect please advise us as soon as possible.

If your order was for "Pick Up" this may be a result of not collecting you order within 14days.
If your order was for "Waiting for Payment" or "Waiting for ID" this may be a result of not providing payment or information within 14days.

Should you still wish to continue with the order, please contact Techbuy Support on 02 9648 1818.

Please do not reply to this email unless the cancellation is incorrect as replying may re-activate the order.

    • Dear Professional OzBargainer,

Legit or did you add this in?

      • +6

I'm pretty sure it's what EC uses as their name on every website =)

        • Disappointing :(

    • +1

Damn suppliers, every time you let them set your prices, they stuff it up.

"The G.Skill supplier has informed us this morning that they had provided incorrect pricing concerning this G.Skill 128GB memory, the current pricing cannot be honoured and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by this"

This does not seem consistent with the law. Does the ACCC accept genuine mistakes made on behalf of vendors?

If they do, anything goes in real terms and retailers can advertise liquidation sales (sorry, genuine mistakes) every day without supplying more than the occasional item to the occasional ACCC enforcement officer.

  • +1

I got an email this morning processing the sale as per normal. No refund email as yet. I wonder what is going on?
I just check the order status on their website:
11/1/2016 1 Received Order has been received and is currently being processed
    Hmmm…

    • they will send you one shortly

the one with email header order cancelled hahahha

    • Yep.
      Order cancelled.
      Paypal have refunded the money.
Oh, well. It was worth a shot.

  • How long's it going to take for the refund though!

    • hopefully before Christmas

      • Paid via PayPal, just received the refund now.

  • They've cancelled the order.

    • Yes correct:

Order Date Items Status Part Ship Cancel Invoice
      46XXX 11/1/2016 1 Cancelled

Sad.. LOL… Now we have the FUN in waiting for a refund.. if not in 3 or so days will lodge a dispute on Paypal as someone said on this thread this company is very dodgy with refunds..
Update: Just received a full refund from paypal…. All the excitement is over… Was dreaming about building my uber PC with 128GB ram & getting a motherboard to support that.. LOL..

  • +8

Future advice if you discover a price error - order it but don't post on OzB.

By posting on OzB you only guarantee noone will get the item AND that the vendor will have heaps of headaches.

If you quietly order 1 the person doing pick and pack may not notice and you might just get your ram.

    • Problem is some one else is sure to find it also and post it on Ozbargain to then ruin it. And also problem with order in items is that it takes even longer for the order to be fulfilled since the item has to be ordered in from the supplier to the retailer before being dispatched to you so it means a lot more time available for the error to be noticed and then orders be cancelled.

    • There was no chance in hell that even a single order would be honoured, they're worth 10 times this price.

      • +4

there's always a chance when it comes to human error.

    • ^ This. I've done that with DSE in the past and it's been honoured.

      • +2

Was it $900 off like this one?

    • no way, they will cancel it at the end

  • +9

Sorry. I come here for just LOL :)

    • +12

Hehe, same. Always fun to watch some people ordered obvious price error and then get pissed off and whinging like a bitch when their orders are cancelled.

      • yeh love the 'entitlement' mentality, great for entertainment value! keep it up guys and gals..

  • +1

This was awesome! I would order again just for the entertainment value! =)
