      Sydney to Shanghai

      that's because it's up hill…

    • If only they could land at your place and move china closer

  • Hi do you have any specials to Thailand aiund Jan/feb/March please?

  • +2

fantastic deal OP. Already used Sichuan and I was pretty happy with their quality considering the price tag.

  • +1

Bloody Cheap…. but a lot of airtime.

That said, I happily traveled to NYC based on this REP's post (28 hours each way via AUH).

Shanghai is a great city though (as is Beijing), so worth the effort at this price. Remember, Australian residents will need a visa (approx $90 ). I'd recommend flying into Beijing and flying out of Shanghai and taking the bullet train between the two centers. Longest bullet train route in the world 1,318km.

    • I agree with the price/flight time trade off. Funny thing is the flights go through Sydney (if departing Melb) but you can't shorten the flight time by departing from Sydney.

      • I noticed that flight from Melbourne go through Sydney and flight from Sydney go through Melbourne. Is this Virgin/Sichuan codeshare flight? Any booked already can share itinerary? If this is just combine of 2 airlines on same itinerary, will you get 2 separate booking with these 2 airlines? In that case can you skip the virgin flight and your itinerary won't be cancelled by Sichuan Airlines?

Free visa on arrival for Shanghai now for short stay

      • How many days is the visa valid for?

Edit: that is the 72hr one that has been around for a while but you need to travel to another country. . ie not fly home from china.

        • Yea.I heard that it's being extended to around 6 days this year

        • @tomkun01: yes! This is perfect for me…hate having to go through the whole visa process. It has been announced but not actually available yet. Thanks for mentioning this as I would never have known.

        • @tomkun01:

114hrs in some ports, not just Beijing and Shanghai any more, several more arrival ports added. Can move between some of the ports instead of being restricted to the one port.

I used this back in 2013 en-route from HK-Shanghai-Seoul, could have been on Border Security Shanghai, while I was put aside for an hour while they confirmed my e-tickets and hotel bookings (all done online :) )

      • not exactly, has to be in transit to a 3rd destination out of China.
eg. Sydney -> Shanghai -> HongKong -> Sydney

    • I did Sydney-HongKong-Beijing, then, bullet train to Xian, then cheap flight to Shanghai, then Shanghai-HongKong-Sydney….. In and out with Cathay early last year.

The triangle. (Beijing-Xian-Shanghai) imo is the minimum you should do if you are going to pay $90 for a visa(and the effort involved by the way to get that visa).

      • Was Xi'an worth it? I'm worried that the restricted access to the Bing Ma Yong may make it not worth a visit.

  • hi rep, cant seem to find any cheap fares Sydney to shanghai return, not fussed about when travel is
the $404 that are suppose to be with Shisuan air are showing as $780 with China Southern

    can you help/

  • -1

Nah REP, when you click on the $405 it takes you to book with TRIPSTA which then shows $760 cheapest fare
Please follow through and don't just look at the initial price as I have tried many combinations that initially show $404, etc and end up being over $750

  • +3

But do they serve Sichuan chicken/beef on board? One of my favourite dishes. All comes down to that for me.

  • -2

LOL, and your $420 suggestions goes to CheapOAir and then says all flights SOLD OUT , next available is $760 China Southern

LOL, YOU SURE THIS IS A GENUINE DEAL?

  • -1

Go over there to buy up all their property.

    • Yea right and risk the political/social instability! There's a reason they love taking their money out of China

    • -2

      And all their girls.

      • +1

If you are going over there with $400 ticket I don't think you can afford the girls and the properties there. Thats why Chinese come here and buy everything up because Australia is Ozbargain for them.

  • Hi Rep, can you send me the link to the screenshot you took please, so I can try

  • Hi REP, I tried your dates showing in your screenshot and gives me China Southern as cheapest at $760, please click on my link

  • anything for NZ OP?

  • Great deal. OP, do you have any good deal from Melbourne to Guangzhou?

  • Good deal OP, anything to HK around September?

  • This is awesome OP, are there any deals out of Brisbane to Singapore?

  • +1

16 to 20 hour flight! Price is ok. But the air time…

    • Is there one with free stop over?

    • +1

yeah, personally I would rather pay bit more for direct flights. eg Got my Syd - Shanghai return with Qantas next year for $688 with Amex offer. Extra $250 to save total of around 16 hours air time sounds good to me.

  • Which deal is through Virgin Australia? I've never heard of Sichuan Airlines so would rather not fly with them.

    • Sichuan Airline is not too bad.

  • Hi OP,

When is best time to buy flight tickrts to China for this Sep?

    Cheers,
    Ming

  • +2

Hi Rep anything for south korea anytime this year

  • Anything cheap to any Chinese cities or HK within the next few weeks? Either from MEL or SYD?

  • Hi OP. I am tempted by this deal but I was originally looking for a trip to Japan in the May/june period. Are there any comparable flights to Japan price wise at the moment from SYD? Could be for any dates (I've looked and everything seems to be $750+ return) at cheapest. Pockets of Asia keep going on special over the last two weeks but Japan keeps getting missed.

  • Hi everyone, first time post here, I tried price beating this unbelievable price at flight center with their Lowest Airfare Guarantee, i was advised by the flight center consultant that these cheap price is in fact in Euro not in Australian Dollar.

    • They'd say anything to get out of matching these

  • -1

You don't have to leave the country to visit China nowadays…

  • Excludes 25th mar - Apr 3 returns. cheapest is 664.
