      Are you using a mac?

      • Has to be.. Or a slow iPad or android tablet.

        • Incoming internet android defence, you better run and hide ;)

He could be using a Surface 2 RT

        • Rasbian desktop running on Rev A Raspberry Pi.

      • I am a mac myself ….. lol …

          Hi Mac, I'm hungry Jack

        • Hi, Mac. I'm whopper.

Yeah, if you'd don't already know the Surface3 will be finally getting LTE. Later this month.
Still an absolutely great product to replace your apple and android devices, come to the dark side, we have cookies!

Quad-Core Intel Atom x7 1.6GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM seem underpower for photo editing and graphics design work. How many colours does it support?

      • Better off with the 4gb version.

      • +1

Yeah, You will probably need the i5 8gig of ram surface pro 4 for design work (around 2k).
Even the pro 4 m3 struggles a bit to run Photoshop.

Note that all are going to be run incomplete design tablet apps like the iPad pro can, but you will need to finish this stuff up on your real pc then. If you want to do real graphics work your going to need to shell out the bucks. These models (note they are not surface pro 3's) are just for watching videos on the internet and doing typing work.

Don't forget Amex offer to for a further $50 off

    • ooo, this still working?

Any idea how long to wait after registering to buy?

      • You can't register any longer as the maximum number of people have taken up the offer.

        • ah, they should probably mention that on the site instead of allowing people to sign up still :/

        • @cheesecactus: It depends on which link you click on. This link tells you the offer has expired, as does the ozbargain post.

Waiting for Surface book deals. Know any

    • +6

      Don't expect under $2000. Lol

    • 10% off if your a student on microsofts education store.

      • True but realistically its still pricey hardware.

So I'd be looking for at least 10% and then may be TRS to get it somewhat attractive.

        • I dont know what TRS is, but if you are a student you can claim some of it on your tax as well.

Generally surface's don't seem to go on sale that often and not for a lot, the only time they go cheap seems to be when the next one comes out.

        • @RI4V4N:

Thanks, the TRS is Tourist Refund Scheme for when you go overseas.

It looks like the Surface Book is being released to other retailers in the coming weeks.

Might see some deal staking opportunities come up!

Maybe even order from DSE on a payment plan! LOL

        • @GLO: I think it's already at jb.

Also /humourless stern response. Nobody is gonna be selling dse any surface books

  • How would the S3 128GB version fair against the i3 SP3 64GB?

    • Surface pro is around twice the performance.

But you are also looking at a tablet that has the innards of a laptop, so expect some reduced battery life, some fan noise and a lot of heat. Yes, the surface pro can overheat, particularly when you're gaming.

The non pro surface had better battery life and is also passively cooled.

    • Also note the physical size and weight differences

  • I'm waiting for the SP3 to go on clearance…I have the Surface 3 (bought when MS had the click-frenzy deal of free type cover) and very happy with it.

For those of you deciding whether to get a SP3 or S3. You can get a relatively new SP3 for less than 1000$. The last time S3 was on sale I ended up picking up a SP3 and definitely have no not looked back. It has replaced my macbook pro + ipad combination.

    • You can also get a m3 sp4 for pretty cheap, esp with a 10% student discount. The m3 is about the same as the sp3 i5 from what I understand hardware wise (and the benchmarks i have seen) and is fanless.
