  • These lasted just over a year last time. Alkaline last about twice as long.

With the hassle of reaching the fittings & installing, I've now gone for Alkalines. The extra cost is worth the halved effort each year. (Got 4 pack of Energizer Max from DS sale a while back for $9, paid with 1/2 price gift cards. Memories of deals past.)

Also Ikea sells the 9V Alkalisk at $3 currently. That brand seems to get favourable reviews.

  • So is "extra heavy duty" worse than Alkaline?

    • Yes, EHD means Zinc Carbon.

        I find that rather re-volt-ing

          So just resist buying them.

@unclesnake: Well I would do everything in my capacity to amplify my warning to induce you not to buy.

@altomic: At this current time I thought about negging the deal, but then that wouldn't be conventional.

Shocking humour. Tongue in cheek is better.

  • Got x6 last time posted on Ozbargain. Great deal.

  • Coles's home brand 9 volt battery is $2.50.

    • Damn, the reminded me that I bought some of them 9 months ago and there are 4 sitting in the battery draw.

      • Shocking. They'll be jealous you're seeing other batteries ;-)

They're cheap, but I've never needed 6 at a time. Bought the 4 alkaline Energizer (4 smoke detectors) for $4.50 months ago, & only used 1. Still in the drawer (with the spare Eneloops). At least those are supposed to last until 2020.

      • reminded me that I bought some of them 9 months ago

Carbon Zinc would be pretty much stuffed now, from self-discharge. The cheapo ones like K-mart performers etc seem to be even worse than the standard Eveready etc.

there are 4 sitting in the battery draw

        Why did you draw them?
