I wonder if Chinese beans are safer to eat than their berries?

        .. racist

No, it's to do with standards, regulations, enforcement and penalties.

@sandp. Heinz beans are labelled made in NZ from local and imported, and your article notes neither beans or tomatoes are grown in NZ, but (serious question) what leads you to conclude the ingredients are Chinese in origin, and not, say, Italian…?

      • mamma mia!!

      • +9

The fact that they don't say made in NZ from imported Italian beans.
They're hiding behind NZ's misleading labeling laws.

Great post. Shows as $9 online at my local store. Still good value, will get 4 packs. 3 cans a week means these will last for 4 months.

  • seems that this deal and the 10 kg rice, neither of which is available at my local store are click n collect….. might the first time online groceries are worth the effort.

Canned beans also contain some vitamin C and B vitamins. And they are high in soluble fiber which is considered beneficial for digestion. Unfortunately, it’s this soluble fiber that is central to the problem when it comes to stomach gas.

The way baked beans make you fart starts with oligosaccharides such as raffinose and stachyose. These carbohydrates are made of molecules that are too large to be absorbed in our small intestine during digestion. Instead they pass through to the large intestine intact.

  • Picked this deal up from McDowall (Bris) just before Christmas. Not sure if they may still have it there (oops forgot to post)

  • Do you think this will only apply to remaining stock? Thinking of going by tomorrow evening.

  • These are generally $10.00 at Woolies. Good deal.

  • Not sure where you found them. Made a trip over to Randwick Woolworths and looked for a good five minutes before giving up.
