    That's a good lookin USB

    • I was about to say! That's one sexy USB

      • +8

Sounds like this pair already have the Bar.

    • Beautifully ugly. Says it's streamlined, but that big bulky metal loop… I'm torn.

      • +9

loop?? that's a spoiler to help keep the dive in, otherwise it would pop right out with the speeds it reaches.

  • +2

looks like it won't fall off my key ring.

  • +14

i will buy it, even though I dont need it, because its on ozbargain!

    • same

    • +2

      That's the spirit

  • If I haven't bought the 64GB SanDisk Extreme CZ80 from MSY for $33 previously from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/207886 then I would have look into this. Still a decent deal though.

  • Bought 2 thanks

    • +1

One for you, and one for me?

  • Bought 4, Thanks

  • Something really irks me about the Harvey Norman listing… It's got all the right words but it looks like someone dropped them all and picked it up in a random order…

Even the Samsung site has it properly worded
    http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/memory-storage/usb-drives…

Samsung "USB 3.0 Flash Drive BAR 64GB"

  • Thanks bought 1

Whats is the read/write speed of these things?

    • +1

      There're some reviews here:
      http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Flash-Drive-MUF-64BA-AM/dp/B01…

By R. Anderson VINE VOICE on November 6, 2015:
I downloaded FlashBench and ran it, and here are the results:
      Read speed: 140.10 MB/s
      Write speed: 98.69 MB/s

Up to 130MB/s transfer speed. Not so good for a USB 3.0 :(

      • The USB3.0 interface is rarely the limiting factor in storage speeds.

    • Thanks OP picked one up today priced at 54, scanned to be 28 got home and ran crystal disk and got 150MB/s Read and 100MB/s Write.
Also 60GBs of the 64GBs is usable.
Copied a 5.4 gigabyte folder and speeds were at around 90-80MB/s for the first 2 gigabytes then it dropped and stayed at around 40MB/s

I'm not a pro on USB drives but anyone know why it does that?

And also it looks and feels really premium. It will get scratched around the tip of the USB but that's to be expected I guess, also it does heat up a little bit but not too hot. Really happy about it so far.

  • Looks good to me, bought!

  • Cheers OZB, got 4!

  • Good enough for us. Bought 3 :)

  • Ordered!

  • This one is also waterproof :)

  • Hmm.. This or a Sandisk Extreme at half the size?

    • +1

Sandisk all the way. My 32G one gets over 250MB/s for seq read, and over 100 for writes, but also does great with random r/w. If you really need 64GB, go for the Samsung, it's not a bad drive.

  • bought 1 =D

  • i just want to live on cloud and avoid using USB, but this looks sexy :'(

  • Not bad at all, looks great! I would buy two.

  • Grabbed two from Corio Harvey's, still heaps left.

  • Just bought one from HN at North Ryde and got an email 10mins later saying it's ready for pickup. Went there and the guy told me that they had over 100 orders come in and knew straight away what I was picking up lmao.

    • Similar experience at HN QV Melbourne. Had to wait as lady was busy grabbing more stock from out the back to fulfill online orders!

  • Excellent deal thanks OP

  • Dang! So tempting. Good find OP

  • +3

What a time to be alive!

  • At least 30 left at Marion.

  • Springvale still has a few. They're keeping them out back.

  • Ummming and aaing about this. Hmm. To buy or not to buy

  • stack with the newsletter coupon?

    • If you buy $150 worth yes

      • wonder why those people buying 4 didn't buy 1 more and add a $10 item ><

    • Buy 5 get one free :)

    • Possible to buy 6 using the coupon for $25 off then getting a refund for 5?

  • The samsung t1 250gb is the much better deal unless you need multiple usbs especially with the $25 off offer

  • "Water proof, Shock proof, magnet proof, temp proof, and X-ray proof"

Is that special or is that standard for USB drives?

    • No it's no standard

  • +1

Quite fast for the money, almost too hot to touch after benchmarking it (~5 mins).

Ran ATTO from 0.5-8192KB on it, results: http://imgur.com/7wMcKDJ

UPDATE: After transferring some files for 10 mins, it is so hot that I can barely remove it without burning my hand. Still maintaining full speed though.

  • Did anyone else's have a sticker covering up the 5 year warranty? I bought two and noticed they both had a white sticker cut to size to specifically hide the 5 year warranty label on the back of the cardboard packaging. Peculiar. I wonder if these are being discontinued and no longer being supported/covered by Samsung?

    • yes mine also had that! Very odd…
Does simply covering up a packaging claim get them out of honouring it??

      • +1

considering the Samsung site says 5 years it should still be 5 years
