Yeah - there is no chance I'm giving them my money without having the item in my hand and one foot out the door first.

      $15.96 Click and collect..

Yeah, I think I have a better chance helping out a nigerian than this

        Dear sir/ma'am.
There has been a security issue with your dick smith purchase. Please send me you cc details to verify :)

    • I got a refill last night for the same price. Used their website to see which store had stock, walked in to the store & bought it over the counter. You don't have to order online to get the same deal.

  • Yeah might go have a look in store and see how much it is.

Dick Smith…. cant trust no more.

there was more than 60L of artificial fizz in the Dick Smith public float offer!

Love the jokes and sarcastic comments, but slagging off a deal or "not trusting" them at the moment isn't justified … I might be wrong, but once a company goes into receivership / administration, the receivers / administrators are responsible for all products sold or advertised - including refunds etc. So if they do screw you over and cannot supply the goods, its the receivers who are responsible for rectifying it - nothing to do with the 'previous' Dick Smith and their dodgy dealings.

    • What if the receivers go into administration?

      • +1

Ferrier Hodgson - worldwide company that specialises in salvaging or dissolving stuffed businesses, the way the business world is these days I think thats one business that'll have plenty of work for a very long time! Anyway, the writing was on the wall for Dick Smith a long time ago… many people here knew things weren't right well before Christmas, based on their daily "one day only super special" emails etc.

IMO this is true for so many other companies and people/OzBargainers are missing out on deals. For example some people won't use anything other than Telstra because they think other telcos have extremely bad service or something. People have overly-emotional reactions to companies like Tigerair and Exetel, but I don't think it's justified.

      • +1

Yes, but some of the bad publicity is warranted. Personally I know people who have been stuffed around by Tigerair and are with Telcos with poor reception issues. Often the problem is not so much the service itself but the knock-on effect. Missing intersecting flights, accomodation costs, etc. There is a reason that organisations can command a premium for their products and it is not just there are a lot of gullible people out there.

      • Oops pasted wrong thing from the clipboard. I meant to quote

slagging off a deal or "not trusting" them at the moment isn't justified

    • +5

"not trusting" them at the moment isn't justified

Lots of people who bought their Gift Cards or know people who did, certainly don't trust them anymore…

      • Even for someone who didn't buy gift cards, but seeing this unfold, isn't exactly making me trust them either.

    • +5

The only reason why dichsmith are considered dodgy, is because they are not honouring their gift cards, who made that decision? The RECEIVERS did.

So don't tell me these receivers are all good at honouring their sales.

      • Yeah, but that was a cock-up made by the former owners of Dick Smith - they're the ones that screwed everyone over. The day the receivers take over, any sales they make they are responsible for - not for anything prior to that. I'm in no way defending the previous owners or the reputation they've given to the "Dick Smith" name … and if the company is sold (yeah right), who knows what the new owners will do, but while its in the hands of receivers, they're legally responsible for any product sold - even after they sell the company and move on.

    • Not Justified you say. Oh you might be wrong. You've got no idea what you're talking about.

  • I have bought a fitbit surge @ dick smith 30/12/15, they do not have the stock and can not issue a refund as it is under administration.

I have not got my refund until today.

    • +1

      You got a refund?
      Consider yourself very lucky!

      • no refund at all.

I have take this issue to fair trading.

        • keep us posted on the outcome - goodluck

        • Yes please do keep posted. I have had a similar issue. Have a claim with my credit card as well, but but nothing sounds like its guaranteed.

        • just an update.

NSW fair trading has stepped in now.

They can only ask them to refund me the money can not force them to do so.

        • +1

          @jiaqi518:
Yesterday, I randomly got a Refund email from Dick Smiths for my order that I did not recieve from prior to the holidays. This was after their customer service said several times no refund. I did lodge a dispute with my credit card company, so assuming this is what got them to refund.

Try also to lodge a claim with your credit card company.

        • @addict:

          Thanks very much.

          I will try.

Hopefully I can get my money back this time.

        • @addict:

          Just another update.

I have got my money back from Dick Smith over the weekend after fair trading step in.

        • @jiaqi518:
Congrats! Mine still hasnt come through on my credit card, so I may need your contact at fair trading as well :) will give it a another week as it did say it will take upto 10 days to process.

        • @addict:

Sure. Let me how you goes.

Fair trading have been very helpful:)

  • lol… receivers get their own receivers and our receipts will be unreceivable !!

  • Sorry if this sound ignorant but what's the date that they went into receiverships?

    • "For goods sold during the receivership of Dick Smith, you can rely on your consumer guarantee rights. That’s our cash back promise. We will refund your item if we can’t quickly repair or replace it, even if the business closes or is sold." - https://www.dicksmith.com.au/promotion-terms-and-conditions

Receivers took over on 5th January - from their "Receivers Customer FAQ" page…
I purchased a product on or after 5 January 2016 and it is faulty / no longer working, what happens now?
DSE’s existing returns policy is continuing. Please refer to the DSE Returns Policy located on the Dick Smith website for further information.

      • But what about before that date mrdevil?

  • +1

This is a good deal and normally I would have bought this, but there is no way I will be handing over any money to DS unless I have the item in my hand.

  • +1

Has been $15.96 for a while now. I paid that price about begin mid December when last needed refill.
Take old one in, up to counter, pay 15.96 And walk out with replacment full cylinder.
Usually $20 at woolies, Kmart etc

    • The DS employee just handed over the new cylinder and I just took it. Did not ask for the old one.

      • +1

Bonus. Saves buying a back up/spare.

Swap that one at Kmart/woolies when 'S close for good…..

(Actually, probably just didnt know it's exchange, or the extra cost of buying a new one)

  • +1

Just letting you ozbargainers know i walked into a DS store today and they sold me a refill for $15.96 too. So no need to click and collect.

  • Can I still use my gift card there?
    Pity I don't need refill.
