Seems like a pretty good deal from what i can see, +ve

Pretty good deal, however it's AMD though.

    • What's wrong with AMD?

      • +1

The one I had generate heaps of heats and doesn't go as quick as the intel Dual core that we have. I'd rather spend another $100-$200 to get a intel one.

        • +1

it really depends on the processor and processor type, I would agree usually but in this instance this is one of the best AMD processors AMD has made and there are no heating issues, we have sold over 1500 of this particular model.
I would compare this processor to an Intel 64 bit core 2 duo processor and not to a standard dual core processor.

Nothing wrong with AMD. In some cases AMD is actually better than Intel because it's priced better and just as powerful.

I remember when I bought my AMD Phenom 9950, all that Intel offered for the same price was a Intel Core 2 Duo E7600.

I'll go AMD anyday, 20% of the chip price for Intel goes straight to the marketing department to trick people like you into thinking Intel is the one and only.

  • How many usb ports does this beast have? also do you have a link to show a clearer picture of the keyboard. Curious to see how squishy it is with the numeric keypad

    • 4 X USB
      1 X HDMI
      1 X ESATA
      1 X VGA
      1 X PCI express
      1 X Fire wire
      and card reader,
the only pictures I have is if you follow the link to the MLN website and click on the other images, its no bigger or smaller than any other keyboard with numeric keypad built in on a 15" to 16" keyboard.

  • Seems like a good deal. especially with dedicated graphics and 2 years warranty. Its powerful indeed (especially if the processor is touted to be that good). But for my taste, the large screen and 2.95kg weight does make it a bit too hefty. And how power hungry is that AMD processor? Battery life is definitely in question. hmmmm

  • For anyone that is interested in how the CPU performs, can see the CPU Passmark graph here:

  • Would make a decent Home theater Laptop, replace the DVD with cheap bluray off ebay
    It already has HDMI out

  • can this be purchased in store? or is it an online deal?

'Product available in store & ready to ship.' I feel you should order some glasses too. :)

  • With the $69 upgrade option to Win7, is it an upgrade to the basic version or can I upgrade that to the Premium 64bit version?

    • If the laptop comes with Windows Vista 32 bit basic version, you can only upgrade it to Windows 7 basic 64 bit version. The upgrade system has the information of which Vista OS you have (based on your laptop serial number), you cannot change the version.

The upgrade most likely will take 3 weeks (if not more).

      • the discs are available now, there is no time wait on the upgrade, as advertised for $69 you can have them now.

  • Are there any shipping difficulties with this product. It has been over a week since I received email confirming MLN had received payment, but no shipping details yet. I shall await email reply to see what is going on.

    • Well MLN has been a bit so-so with emailing. I recently got a netbook from them and i never received any confirmation email (it stated i would), the courier just rocked up one day, and in other threads its proven to be not an uncommon occurence, so you'll prolly just receive the laptop without the email within a day or 2

      • Please check your junk mail settings if you are using hotmail or gmail, the emails are sent automatically and sometime they end up in your junk mail box.
You can also send us an email,
if we do not respond it is because
        1) we never received an email to respond too due to security settings on our systems or yours.
        2) the reply email is in your junk mail box.
