$5 (Save $35-$55) on Ingham, Macro and Woolworths Turkey Range- Woolworths Hermit Park (QLD)

580

Good morning everyone,

After a solid gym session, I stopped by my local Woolworths (Hermit Park) for a quick dinner fix. To my amusement, their ENTIRE frozen turkey range was down to $5. Yep, that means:

Ingham Frozen Turkey 5/6/7 kg
Macro Range Whole Turkey 3/4.5 kg
Ingham Turkey Buffet 3/4/5 kg
Ingham Turkey Breast Roast (traditional/sweet herb and mustard) 2kg
Woolworths Turkey Breast Traditional Roast 1 kg

Basically any product with the word "turkey" was down to $5.
Also, as a bonus, Pepe's Whole Duck 1.6kg was also reduced to $2.

There were at least 30+ items left at that store when I left on Wednesday evening, even after I bought what seemed like an Epic Meal Time quantity of poultry. Manager mentioned they are not short-dated, simply occupying freezer space so they had to go. No limit of (x) items per person.

P.S. I only kept a couple of the 2kg Ingham Turkey Roasts, the rest went to three families who requested that I purchase a couple of each and deliver it to them since it was too far for them to drive out!

Happy hunting OzB

    Amazing haul.

  • +3

    That's a whole lotta turkey.

    • +4

Now I just need to find deals on cranberry sauce…

  • +5

You must have a bloody big freezer!

    • +9

Haha! They have a deep freezer each. Meanwhile I'm sharing a freezer with a housemate, so I could only take three turkey breast roasts :(
      1 upvote= 1 prayer.

      Those gains…

  • +2

So will I find Wild "Turkey" marked down to $5 :)

    • Touché. If only :)

    • +1

Alas, no. Our paternalistic governments have never permitted liquor sales at supermarkets.

  • how long do they last in the freezer and after the expiry date?

    • +1

From personal experience, they can keep for a year or two with minimal deterioration in quality or texture. As long as you don't defrost and re-freeze. We had a turkey one Christmas that was chilling (haha) for a year and a bit, tasted great :D

  • none in bankstown

Its a store specific sale i was told by the manager.

    • Last I saw in Keilor East (VIC), and in Maribyrnong (VIC) around mid-Jan, it was down to half-price. Worth a gander to the local store to check what they're clearing out!

    • +1

OP made it pretty clear in the post that it only applied to Hermit Park. No need to report it for insufficient quantity simply because it doesn't apply to you.

On a related note, this is probably the only time people have wished they actually lived in Townsville.

  • Is there a hermit there?

    • +1

No hermits (crustacean or ascetic varieties) , no parks, just a whole lotta turkey!

      • No parks? Did you walk there? ;)

  • +6

No one here is asking the important questions: How much did you lift?

    • +19

Lets just say 68kg of poultry, one trip to the car. Ladies, form an orderly line please.

I was really excited until I saw you paid with a Debit Card. If you'd have paid with a discounted WISH gift card you would've won the internet!!

    • +1

If only :( Two things I'd like to keep an eye out for this year, discounted gift cards and CashRewards deals!

      • +1

Haha, next time just head on over to http://www.cashrewards.com.au/woolworths-gift-cards, you can either buy a discounted gift card for the exact value that you need (so if you know you'll only be doing one shop and you know what the total will be), or you can stock up like $100 for situations like this when you need to purchase on the spot.
I notice this is your first deal too so congrats on such an awesome deal!

        • +1

Cheers crouchie, and thanks for the link!

        • +1

Might be time to find a deal on chest freezers now too? ;)

        • +1

Don't tempt me, I found a seller offering a $100 unit on Gumtree!

  • +1

Cheaper than the new cheaper chook. Cheep! Gobble, gobble!

    • Btw, three of the whole turkeys were 7kg, but the cashier operator just said it's all the same price anyway. $1.40/kg, I'd pay that!

  • Nobody eating turkey during xmas there?!

  • +2

Awesome deal. I would have bought an extra chest freezer just to put these in.

    • +4

It crossed my mind! I opened up Gumtree Mobile in the middle of the aisle :P

  • +1

Is Turkish delight on clearance too? Oh wait, you said word "Turkey" not "Turkish"! My bad ;)

    • You want to pay $5 for TD?

    • Love me some Turkish Delights!

  • +1

Also, for the Townsville locals, Woolies Castletown had 10 packs of Bic or Papermate pens for 40 to 50 cents, Bic colour pencils 12 pack for 30 cents & Dymo label varieties $2.40.

  • +1

can anyboody confirm if this is at other stores too? i may need to go buy a chest freezer

    • Hey dcarbonetti, I'm updating to include any stores (half-price or better). Keep an eye out!

  • Just popped into Paddington Central Woolies - no sale turkey, barely any turkey at all.

    • Cheers, updated :)

  • Checked out Woolworths Shellharbour (near Bunnings) just in case - only half price . I'll have to make sure I keep stalking it in case it does drop.

    • Cheers, updated :)

  • Just checked out Woolies Boronia (3155)

Lots of Turkey, no cheap prices. Will look again tomorrow and see if they're stickered any stock.

    • My old local. Any duck?

      • +1

No duck I'm afraid. Just lots of full price turkey.

    • Cheers, updated :)

  • I don't understand with all these really specific deals. A lot of these specials are up to the store management. Woolies always have cheap stuff, the other day I bought a stolen for $0.30 and 7 limes for $0.35.

    • +1

You're right in that management decides if they want to reduce their price, but as a deal, this stands on its own merit. I get the general gist of what you're saying, but it's not like I'm posting the reduced to clear salads/steaks/fresh produce items as a deal as their price reflects how close they are to their quality deteriorating. These frozen products are just as good if you bought them a month ago at full price or in 6 months from now.

      • Sorry, it is a pretty good deal. I forgot to +1 it. I just don't like these deals where the OP gets lucky.

        • +1

Fair enough Savas, hopefully you get a lucky deal sooner rather than later :)

  • Nothing to report from Woolworths Croydon (VIC).

    OP just got lucky.

VIC OzBargainers, keep an eye out please. I want some $2 frozen D.

    • Cheers, updated :)

  • +1

I do this every year and eat like a king for the next few months. Kids love it. Turkey each Sunday arvo ;)

  • +2

Great deal - well worth a gobble.

  • NO turkeys of any type at:
    Cumberland Park, SA.
    Unley, SA.
Mitcham, SA. (although I did snag the last duck @ 50% off here)

    • Cheers, updated :)
