  • How much data once activated?

    • depend on which plan you choose when you sign up. I use about 1GB a month so I would choose the ultimate plan. http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/prepaid/plans#ultimate

      • Would this be included in the 10 dollar initial sim activation or would it require a 30 dollar recharge?

        • Yes you can activate any plans you want to with this starter kit.

  • Hmmm does anybody know whether it is possible to jump from optus prepaid to optus prepaid using a new sim card, whether it is possible to change to this one if I already have an account with optus?

    • +1

Pretty sure they don't allow that. I have tried voda to voda and it failed

      • Thought as much :S, thanks.

    • +1

If your looking to keep my phone number, they suggested You to buy a $2 SIM card not using Optus's network, eg Vodafone. Then bring the number back to Optus on the new sim.

      • Yeah, I might go through that since I am dangerously low on data and it's cheaper that way (Mine lasts 31 days instead of 28 days, but 4.5 GB for $30 extra per year wouldn't be bad for a year).

  • Does anyone know if this could be used to get a number, to activate optus perks for cheap movie tickets?

A $2 pre paid sim didnt work once activated :(

  • Got 1, for the bonus stand, not sure if stock last LOL

  • +1

any expiry for activating the card?

    • Got mine - expires 1 December 2016.

Was hoping for longer as this is the same expiry as another Optus SIM I purchased online 2 months ago.

  • +1

Note: Also in Woolworths Catalogue as of tomorrow.

    • thanks for the heads up.

was just about to order.. I guess it's quicker to just drop in a Woolies :)

  • thanks got one

  • is possible to order many as you want? can i get monthly data because of 30 days instead of other plan that has 28 days?

  • Thanks OP

  • I need the internets at my new rental. Can someone confirm I can buy this and chuck in my old phone and tether it to my cpu?

    • As long as you get a decent signal strength , and the area is not overloaded with users at the time you tether, should work fine. Will work best if your phone is optimised for the Optus 3G 900mHz band and/or 4G 700/1800/2100/2300/2600mHz depending on which tower operates at one or more of those frequencies in your area. The more bands you pick up, the stronger/faster signal you will have, which results in a more stable and faster connection.

I think it said 11 days on the optus website to buy the starter packs. The actual starter packs going by the ones I scabbed from woollies in December for $5 I think epithet June or December depending if it's old stock

    http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/prepaid

OFFER EXPIRES IN 10 DAYS 13 HOURS 17 MINUTES

  • Awesome, ordered one.
    beautiful additional bonus though:
    SUPER SELFIE WHILE STOCKS LAST

  • Does this include $30 against the months plan when you activate?

  • Just ordered. thanks OP

  • +1

    Also available on ebay too.

Doesn't appear to include the selfie stick but might be good for someone who would rather get a bit of cashback than the selfie stick.

  • does it have expire date?

  • The selfie stick look similar to this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crazyprofit-Extendable-Telescopic-Ro… (i.e. it's more a phone stand than a selfie stick).

  • I can't see anything on the page that states bonus selfie stick

    • Edit. I think someone may have updated the link, can see the promo page now with with selfie stick. Brought one!

      • Can only see the image of the SIM card stating "Bonus Super Selfie" but other than that, can't see anything else referring to one.

  • Can anybody confirm if I can use this SIM in an existing (unlocked) portable WiFi device? Also, can this be 3G or 4G? Thanks.

  • Cannot complete online order. When selecting payment option it says "oh no something went wrong call…."
    Maybe no stock left??

    • Yep same problem here.

Input all the details, then attempting to finalise the order, same error message.
Tried on a different browser, same problem.
Tried using my partners details to order one, same problem.

      • Now working. Just placed an order.

        • Yep, just tried it too. However not sure if we'd receive the 'Bonus Super selfie' stick. Not a big deal though, I guess.

        • @OptimisticPessimist: seems to be ok now I just got one

      • Is this a legit Optus seller? Only 6 feedback.

  • is that going to work with pocket wifi?

    • Yes it should.. You may need to update the API settings on the modem.

      • how to do that?

        • If it's the model I'm thing of connect to the modem then type 192.160.0.1 in your browser.Log in admin/password. You should be able to change under network settings.

  • Can I port my number from amaysim with this deal or does the sim come with a number ?

  • for some reason they can't find my order but the transaction have go through…

    • I'm having the same problem. It may be that the order hasn't been dispatched yet. Went on chat today and was told that my order which was placed on Mon Feb 1 will be sent on Monday 8 Feb. When asked why this was the case, useless pricks couldn't give me an answer to this simple question. These Optus reps had absolutely no clue concerning my order, except to tell me it will be sent out very late, despite Optus saying that they will express post it. Don't bother chasing them up for another couple of days as it will be a waste of time. Trust me.

      • after running around transfer different departmet, finally talked to Online Team…they said i should recieve it tomorrow morning. already receive sims from Optus ebay(sims expire on 1st December 2016 and still waiting sims from Optus Online store.

  • Will i get prepaid long expiry recharge on this $10 as well? Or this is limited to only 28 day expiry only?

  • Got the sim today, no phone stand. Did anyone get it?

    • Does your sim cover say " 10$ prepaid recharge"?

      • it's $30 stater pack

    • No here :(

    • Not for me either.

  • +1

ATTENTION!! I bought this deal from optus online, it arrived today, but it's only 10$recharge included in the package instead of 30$. I think it's cheating , I am going to contact the optus to see what they are going to say about this.

    • WTF? you get recharge instead of Sim card?

      • no, it's sim pack with only 10$ preloaded recharge.

    • +1

I got a $30 sim kit. It might just be a mix up. Contact them and they should hopefully be able to sort that out.

    • I ordered one last tuesday. Delivery by courier [cough]. It was in Ballarat by Friday, it's soooooo far out in the bush, an hour from Melb's West 'burbs. It was delivered today… to the Post Office out here, 20 minutes out of the 'rat.

Then, lo and behold, the local postie delivered it this arvo, no sig or I.D. required. I found it in the letter box. So why use the damn slow courier rubbi$h?

To rub salt into that wound…. wrong card Grommit. I got the $10 one too.

I angrily wrung (the neck of) optus 1800 whatever, it's a known error, I'll get the right one by Wednesday or Thursday. I asked for an email confirmation and I've gone a dark shade of purple while waiting for it.

I'll let ya's know if and when I get the right card. And then…. the activation and porting from Telstra to deal with. Maybe another story there.

      • Wednesday has come and gone. Thursday is now over the yard arm and still no $30 SIM.

It's sitting in Wendouree (Ballarat) where it was dropped off at 7:45AM today. Tomorrow will tell me if the courier$ deliver out here on Fridays or is it gunna be Monday, as I must suffer my wait. I must have photo ID ready for delivery. [cough] If it's like last time, delivered by postie and left in the letter box.

My shade of purple would be black if I'd kept holding it… my breath that is.

        -: More to come :-

        • Well well well… delivered by postie today, a card to pick it up at the local P.O. The final straw. Delivered to your home address they said. You have to sign for it they said. Must have photo I.D. they said.

My wife calmed me down by going and picking it up for me.

On return she gave me a box. A bit big for a SIM I thought. Suprise suprise I got a selfie stick as well as the correct SIM. I didn't ask for a selfie stick, just a SIM. Ah well, a freebie is a freebie. After trying it I hope Optus didn't pay for it either. See others comments to save me repeating the obvious.

Activating and porting went OK with only 1 hitch. I made an error in my details and after hitting the activate button and it sent me back to the identify tab without indicating any errors or success. Once corrected BANG! All over, done, dusted and telstra ha lost another one.

The plan I selected? My daily prepaid

  • Just recieved as well… got a $10 pack and no selfie stick… hmmmm on hold with them now.

  • I just received mine - $30 starter kit although the back section looked like it was already opened already. And no selfie stick as well which is the main reason why I ordered one lol! :(

Starter kit has an expiry of 01 Dec 2016

Gotta love certain mobile carriers for NOT delivering on agreed terms and conditions of late. With me - firstly it was the recent Telstra Post-Paid convoluted promotion mess, having to fight for the 7GB written and agreed to - data allowance on a recent SIM only promotion (data allowance incrementally fed to me in dribs and drabs and free Apple subscription music woes). Now Optus, with all their false promises regarding the now infamous Selfie stick + $30 prepaid SIM kit - all for a very attractive and meagre $10 - delivered. For $10, I must have missed the fine print about the delivery which might have alluded to the fact the selfie stick would be delivered separately after activation (perhaps). Oh wait a minute the standard "until stock is depleted" excuse. Geez, I thought I ordered this pretty much within hours after the promotion release. Well it appears they are still promoting the selfie stick hey.

I simply can't be bothered to pick up the phone to inquire about the "phantom selfie stick" (much to the disappointment of one of my family). The SIM card arrived today - four business days later, without any email notice or fanfare, minus the much touted selfie stick. Well if I could, I would post an unassisted selfie of myself to Optus with the proverbial "Up Yours" and "STICK it up your …" without the assistance of the said appendage that was promised to me. Bad PR move Optus. Not to mention the aforesaid insult (inflicted on others) of being sent a $10 recharge pack v's the $30 starter kit. The SIM will be filed for use on a rainy day prior to its Dec 1, 2016 expiry (back section appears tampered with too - here).

  • Got my SIM today but NO selfie stick as well.. interested to see if anyone actually got the selfie stick. This was the ONLY reason I bought it. UNHAPPY.

  • just receive the package, all i got is Sims card no selfie stick..false advertising…

  • My pack printed with $10 - which is strange. Wonder if I can ask them to refund me as I was supposed to get the $30 SIM kit.

    • have you contacted optus? what did they say?

      • Well it is not after hours I will try contacting them on monday. Cheers.

  • Contacted support this afternoon and she told me I will get the BONUS when I activate the sim, definitely not the case but she kept insisting on it.

    • What "bonus"?

      • "You:I just want to know what happen with the bonus
You:BONUS SUPER SELFIE WHILE STOCKS LAST
Sophia S:Once you activated you will get a BONUS
You:I thought it should be included in the package shipped to my home
Sophia S:Yes,I can understand but if you inform by the Optus store definitely you will get a BONUS so please don't worry at all."

That was what she said, actually I contacted regarding another issue with my broadband bill so may be she did not know what she was talking about and I was just too tired to keep chasing up all the problems with Optus, will steer clear from them in the future.

PS: got a credit each month for my broadband plan from whatever promotion they had at that time, but every month in the past year I had to chase them to make it applied to my bill, that is just bs, gonna make a complain to TIO this time if it's not solved probably.

I called around mine and they said they would refund it as I ended up with a $10 pack and no selfie stick.
The consultant told me to order again… I'm just going to leave it and settle with nothing.
Does anyone know if I activate the $10 starter kit, what plan it actually goes on? I can't see a prepaid plan that is $10 recharges.

  • Just chiming in: got $10 pack and no selfie stick as well.

    Revoked positive vote.

  • Could I buy this and then go onto the $1 prepaid daily?

    • yes you can

  • just got 2 from Officework…OfficeWork does price Match. expire in 1st December 2016, right now i need Voda.

  • we can't let them get away…i don't care for selfie stick but still.

  • Got my sim. Only $10 preloaded. Endless phonecalls with optus and have been transferred 6 times with issue not sorted. They have lost a customer for life.

    • I was told that activating the card by May will give me $30 credit, not sure abou this. Shall try calling them again tomorrow.

      • Nope. Only $10 credit.

  • 30$ or 10$

  • I received a $10 instead of the $30.
Just an update. I called Optus again today and was advised that I should expect a replacement SIM soon.

They claimed that this is automatic and have been sent out for all those who received a $10 SIM instead of a $30 SIM.

  • Received $10 recharge voucher as well.

However, today I got a delivery of the selfie stick
and a $30 prepaid sim starter kit,
    so there, happy.

  • Yesterday i receive my last starter kit order which comes with Selfie stick and minute ago pick up Selfie stick that should have come with previous starter kit order..it was crappy selfie stick.

    • The selfie stick is quite useless. No cable provided to do selfie from a remote switch.

      • i got 4 of those right now and find it crap…

  • +1

Gotta love Optus.. I ordered 2 with seperate email addresses.
1 turned up with a $10 prepaid starter pack nothing else.
    The other didn't turn up.
1 week later 2 parcels turned up with $30 starter pack and selfie stick each in box.
WTF?! oh well i scored an extra $10 starter pack.
This was after 3 calls and 1 email via their website - but no actual response received to any of my enquiries.
