Airbnb AUD $57 Referral Credit for Minimum AUD $106 Spend for New Sign Ups Only

730

I've been searching high and low for a Airbnb discount code for our forthcoming trip to Japan. This 'double referral credit' is the best active offer I've found so far (via reddit), but you'll need to follow instructions below as it is only applicable to referrals from the Airbnb Chinese site (I think they are trying to expand customer base to compete with the local Tujia.com).

I understand this is not for everyone, however if you don't mind a little bit of hassle to get an extra $29 worth of credits, and may even learn a little bit of Chinese along the way, give it a go :) I've attached a screen comparison to help you navigate through the sign up process.

The following steps were copied from reddit and edited:

  1. Copy and paste the following link zh.airbnb.com/c/xxxxx?s=8, but replace xxxxx with one of the usernames in the Airbnb Referral Wiki into a New Tab.
  2. DO NOT CHANGE THE LANGUAGE if you do you will only get $28 off not $57.
  3. Select either Facebook, Google, or Email Address.
  4. Enter Personal Info: First name, Last name, Email address, Password, Birthday in this order when signing up. (see attached screenshot for assistance, including a list of Months in Chinese)
  5. Click the RED submit button on the bottom of the signup window.
  6. Check your email to confirm your email address by clicking on the link sent to you from Airbnb in your inbox.
  7. FINAL STEP: New tab will open and you will receive AUD $57 credit to spend on your first booking that exceeds AUD $106 or more (NOTE: not including cleaning and service fees). After sign up, change your language by scrolling down to the very bottom of the page and on the bottom left or reopen new browser.

Happy travels!!

P.S. Referral credit of AUD $57 might fluctuate slightly due to exchange rate movements (USD $40)

  • thanks! much appreciated… every bit of savings help esp. with travel!

  • Do the referral credits expire?

    • Answer from Airbnb site:

Travel credits expire one year from the date they're issued and can only be used once. Travel credits are also not reusable if you cancel a reservation where the credits were applied.

Pretty good discount. For anyone that can't be bothered with the steps and you're on Optus, you get a $50 credit through Optus Perks

    • Can you link me to that deal please?

      • +1

Really? It's the first result when you Google 'optus perks airbnb'

      • lol yeh just as roadeh said, it's easily found on optusperks.com.au. Great for $11 movie tix too just in case ya didn't know

    • With Optus and just returned from an airbnb stay. Ill remember this for next time, thanks for mentioning it!

  • Hi OP, I got the email and they said I have $57AUD to spend. But I can't find the credit anywhere else after and I don't see any conditions with credit either. :(. Can you tell me where to find the credit?

Log into Airbnb.com.au, click on your profile (top right hand side), and you will see "Travel Credit" in the menu bar, click on it and it will show how much credit you have. It is automatically applied when you book for your first stay (minimum spend is $106 or USD $75, excluding fees). Good luck! :)

I had 3 airbnb accounts last year right before my trip to the us last year, registered with old and new passport, driver's license, and was able to apply the $100-$50 vouchers (for new user only) from Optus perk. And airbnb found out that I had multiple accounts which violates their t&c or whatever, thus they had to merge all my accounts, but that's after my trip.

  • Mine doesn't work saying something like !!!!!

I did the same as trangnm, perhaps change the wording - it's not immediate , it's when you book.
I have no travel credit appearing.

  • Some-body gonna sleep REAL good!

I click on the referral links in the wiki here but how come it just take me to standard airbnb.com?

    • +3

Does it have zh at the front ?

Follow steps in the description and copy pasta the specific referral ID that you want to use from the Referral Wiki. Consider using the ID of someone who isn't spamming iherb and amaysim deals every other day to milk referral credits. The deal poster's ID is another option.

After clicking the Red button at the end a few more windows will come up asking if you want to put photo and phone number to your profile, select the last entry to Skip

    Thanks a lot!
    I get a message:

Earn $ 163 AUD travel fund
To your friend's first trip journey Airbnb send $ 57 AUD promotions, you will receive up to $ 163 AUD travel funds.

How does that work? Also do I have to go through the Chinese Airbnb to book accommodation or can I use the au domain?

EDIT: Seems like I can log into the aus version of airbnb and the credit still shows up. Nice!

For the zh chinese site referrals, you get $57 if your friend goes on a trip and $106 if they host. If they do both then $57+106 = $163
For the au site referrals it looks like $28+$113 = $141

Bugger - I literally booked the last of our Airbnbs for Japan last night! +1 for your effort in finding this!

For those other deals if you CBF with the Chinese referal.. you can use both too as the SIM card uses your booking reference, not a coupon code!
    * Free Optus $30 SIM for 1st trip on AirBNB
    * $50 first sign up offer from Optus

  • My credit disappeared after few hours.
    Anybody have seen this?

    Hi OP,

I used your referral link and signed up. But I didn't get any credits! Just wondering if you have received any credits?

    • +1

Thank you! I won't receive any credits until you have completed your travels (of the first qualifying booking). With regards to your $57 credit, please see following info copied from Airbnb site:
Travel Credits will automatically appear as a coupon on the checkout page, and must be used on a Qualifying Reservation within one year from the date they are issued. After one year, the Travel credits will expire. Travel Credits may not be combined with additional coupons. Travel Credits may not transferred or exchanged for any cash or money.

Hope it helps and safe travels in the new year :)
