  • If you need ref code email me at manobik at gmail.

  • Off-Topic but I noticed the 3 Shop took down all of their HTC phones last week. Wonder what that means?

    • Most of their HTC models were old anyway (Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, HTC Magic) so they may have either sold what they had or may not be selling HTC units in the future.

  • Thats a shame - They appear to have dropped the 3GB internet access that used to come included with blackberry plans.

    • This is what is says in the terms and conditions:

"Total minimum cost over 24 months is $936. If service is disconnected within 24 months, you must pay $39 per month for remaining months of contract and you must pay all outstanding charges. # Unlimited access is via Blackberry browser in 3's Broadband Zone and 3G Roaming Zone (50MB fair use limit applies). Access via Planet 3 is charged separately. . Bonus 3GB for Planet 3 services (e.g. YouTube). Planet 3 Mobile internet allowance for 3's Broadband Zones which covers the greater metropolitan areas of most Australian capital cities. Within 3's Broadband Zone additional internet usage is charged at 10c/MB. Roaming in Australia (including within 3 s Broadband Zone) is charged at 50c/MB. Connections only available to customers who live or work at an address within 3's Broadband & 2G Zone."

You get 3GB for planet 3 services, I'm not sure if this means 3GB for internet access.

      • The term "Planet 3 Mobile internet allowance" is similar to internet access as we use planet3 as APN.

On the attached ad. it clearly mentions Unlimited facebook/google maps/IM via application accessed through Blackberry APN.

So BlackBerry APN gives us unlimited Internet APP usage

and Planet3 APN gives 3 GB Internet usage

        Am I correct?

        • I'm on the vodafone deal. anything you do over the blackberry apn is free (email, normal web browsing). anything you do over the vodafone apn costs money (i haven't had to use the vodafone apn for anything, ever. youtube via the youtube website will try and switch you over to the vodafone apn. but if you download the youtube application from the blackberry app world, you can use it to access youtube via the blackberry apn).

Facebook (application and website), googlemaps (application and website), all IM clients all go through blackberry apn, and are thus free.

I imagine the 3 thing wuold be the same. only need the 3 apn for streaming media.

          • @salem: Well as a three customer I use planet 3 APN for my daily internet browsing as well.

            • @manobik: does it mean teethering as well is included in the 3gb?

        • I'm on the old $39 blackberry plan http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/13114
and the 3GB is added as a "$40 ultimate 3GB", so you get the extras that go with that.
Like free email on telstra roaming, using nokia messaging or email-on-3.
Very nice if you ebayed the crappy Blackberry 8707 that came with the plan :-)
          The Storm looks much better.

  • Same as on vodafone.
    http://vodafone.com.au/personal/blackberry/hot-offers.htm

Free on $29 cap with $10 unlimited blackberry internet and email add-on = $39.
Although vodafone's $29 cap onl yhas $150 credit. but still free vodafone to vodafone calls.

Hang on, didn't vodafone buy 3 a while back anyway?

  • Don't do these 24 month plans, that is just way too long for me. It seems only Optus offers 12 months plans, such a better deal as well.

    • blackberry storm is only on vodafone (and 3 now, i guess, since they were bought by vodafone). blackberry storm 2, however, i am unsure of the exclusivity. But I agree. when the storm first came out, i wanted it, so got one. cheapest way onto it was a $69 cap for 24 months. now, a year later, there are $39 plans i could be on instead, but the fees for changing mid-contract cost the same as just staying on the current plan until it ends.

    • will u recommend any available optus blackberry plan for 12 months with greater value?

      • lol. the only optus blackberry plan I could find on their website is a $79 plan (unless they hide them somewhere exceedingly difficult to find)

    • when u go to filter search on the 3 website you can 12 months or 24months…plans arnt great..but they are offered

  • does this plan including 3GB of data/BIS?(which I could put the sim card into a USB modem for laptop internet)?

I'm on the previous $39 BlackBerry plan, which includes 3GB of mobile internet data! is this new plan the same?

    • not sure as "planet 3" APN seems mandatory. AS it says "…Bonus 3GB for Planet 3 services (e.g. YouTube). Planet 3 Mobile internet allowance for 3’s Broadband Zones…"

    • +1

it means.. unlimited BIS + 3GB for WAP use (ie. traffic not through BIS)

      • so it does not have the "regular 3GB internet access pack" thing?

  • It doesn't mention the 3gb in the ad or on the website…

    • Read the fine print (T&Cs)

"Total minimum cost over 24 months is $936. If service is disconnected within 24 months, you must pay $39 per month for remaining months of contract and you must pay all outstanding charges. # Unlimited access is via Blackberry browser in 3's Broadband Zone and 3G Roaming Zone (50MB fair use limit applies). Access via Planet 3 is charged separately. . Bonus 3GB for Planet 3 services (e.g. YouTube). Connections only available to customers who live or work at an address within 3's Broadband & 2G Zone."

      • Planet 3 services means you could surf internet regularly? to any site? or just to their Planet 3 services site?

  • .

  • -1

NO mention of free 3g anywhere. And NO wife. I will not vote negative because you can still live with the remaining features.

    • +4

Wife? You want a wife to come bundled?

    • I meant Wifi (bloody spell checker :) )

  • +1

i wish wives cost only $39 a month

  • Hi Guys,

I am not sure where you guys are seeing the 3GB data allowance. I have checked the website and it dont say that. could you please confirm

    Muneer

    • Did u go through T&C? it says "..Bonus 3GB for Planet 3 services (e.g. YouTube). Planet 3 Mobile internet allowance for 3’s Broadband Zones.."

But when you choose some other mobile set eg. nokia e71 on 39 CAP, it does not say anything about this 3 GB DATA.

  • +1

The 3gb Data is for the Planet 3 APN only? eg youtube/facebook through three.

    Not for the 3services/3netaccess.

If so it' a poor deal.

    • that's what I like to find out…

3's customer service is very bad, they have no idea what these are!!

    • I alternate between 3services and 3netaccess as the APN for my BB Bold 9700. Never once been charged for browsing (and I've done a hell of a lot of youtube / tethering with my phone)

    • +1

if 2 people use the same code u r in trouble.better allocate coupon privately.

      • Oh really? How can I delete message here??

        • wont be able to delete the whole lot :( but u surely could edit the comment.

        • Removed it.

  • Bit confusing

    1. Check page 3 on http://www.three.com.au/catalogue . It says "..all the value of 29 CAP.." which has $150 VALUE and if it has "$150 value" it surely has +$10 extra for 3 GB DATA.

    2. Check (http://shop.three.com.au/mobile-details/BlackBerry-Storm1-95…) which has $250 VALUE but terms and conditions clearly says "Bonus 3 GB data on Planet 3 APN".

  • I have called up 3 regarding this plan and in my opinion, this is just misleading advertising. They say unlimited email and internet through the blackberry browser, but what they don't say is the $20 you HAVE to pay each month to firstly activate the blackberry phone and sign up for BIS. I looked around the site and NOWHERE is it specified that you have to pay this amount for access to BIS so the customer service representative admitted herself that it was misleading advertising….i am tempted to change provider now

I also had 2 terrible experiences today with customer service regarding my mobile phone which is just 2 months from the end of the contract but is frequently switching itself off and not working particularly well and I was negotiating a deal with them to try and get me a new handset and they were very uncooperative with me. Lo and behold, my phone switched itself off mid conversation with the customer service….oh the irony….

    • I would take what 3's customer service says with a grain of salt. I inquired about the $29 combo cap plan last week, which gave you 3 months for free and they said they weren't aware of the 3 months free. Uhhh check your website, its on the front page and in the combo cap page. Hold on let me check, sorry don't see that. ???

If there's nothing in the terms and conditions when you sign up online, then thats it. If there is an issue, refer to these terms.

  • looks like this post just dying off, not as popular as the OLD blackberry $39 plan here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/13114

and no one could confirm the 3GB internet data either…

    • Agree

    • went to a store to figure it out. It's basically a $29 cap + $20 BIS but you get a $10 discount on the BIS each month so it works out to $39 a month. 3Gb you get through the normal web browser and the "unlimited (50Mb) blackberry email and stuff" will be through the blackberry browser you get after you activate BIS.

  • I can never understand this Unlimided (50Mb) deal !!

    • its simple, once you understand how "cap" mean minimum spend :-)
