F/4 Macro Lens? Would that even work for Macro?

  • any1 brought these previously or during the last sale…. Any thoughts.?

Noisy, slow autofocus that often struggles, no OIS means blurry shots without a tripod.
But put it on a tripod and use manual focus and the picture quality is quite good, and does some very nice bokeh.

After having owned 2 Sigma zoom lenses (not this model), I will never own another Sigma lens until I'm convinced that their manufacturing has improved.
The lens creep on awful, only a slight downward angle of the camera will send it to extend to the full zoom length.
The zoom lock only works when lens is fully retracted, which means anything other than horizontal mode on a tripod and our in trouble.
We send men to the moon decades ago, but can't make a creep free lens, at least Sigma can't.

    • Which lenses have you used?
I have the 30 and 60mm primes for m43s and they are fantastic. But they are close to 200 bucks each

This lens probably won't be fantastic because you're asking for almost an all in one package for 150 bucks. You'd definitely need a tripod for this one.

      • I'm taking about the zoom lens being crap. You have primes - where is the Zoom in them?
Why the negs, does honesty hurt?

        • Bro I didn't neg you. And I agree with you - this lens probably wouldnt be good handheld. The saddest thing is it is usually "beginner" shooters who would see this and want to buy a cheapie lens to cover most focal lengths, but with a lens like this, they'll probably think "why are my photos bad?" and just give up. But what can you expect for 150 buckaroonies

I personally have had good experiences with the build quality on sigma thankfully. *Not as solid as canon or nikon - but the bang you get for half the buck is fantastic

Better to pony up and spend the extra to get the Canon 55-250mm STM.
