  • i know this brands headphones keeps popping up but ive no experience with them….are these a reasonable purchase…?
mainly for when im riding the mtb so sound quality has to be at least ok but not high-end and are they durable…? i.e will they last more than couple months of use…? (my general experience with 'cheap' headphones..either button functions cease or one of the channels dies form poor connectors…)

    • +1

I use my piston 2s in preference to my Sennheisser 202s even when home. They offer a clarity and clearness I'm very impressed with, and the build quality is great.

    • +1

I use my pistons interchangeably with my Sennheisser CX300's and are similar in quality of sound. I'd go on to say the Pistons are build slightly better as they use thicker wiring which tangles less.

EDIT: I should clarify that after checking my E-mail, I was referring to the Piston III. So the above only applies to those.

    • +1

I've had the same problems with all brands failing (I'm hard on them as I wear them all day even if they aren't in my ears they are around my neck) UNTIL I bought Xiaomi brand. They are very well constructed. I only use them for audiobooks, occasional music and phone calls and I regard them as as good as any I have tried (including $75 sets) for that purpose.

      • +1

cheers people….might try a set out & see how i go. not much to lose i guess… :P

    • +2

My Piston 3s and now Piston Hybrid IEMs produce some of the most incredible audio I have ever heard. Xiaomi know what they're doing with audio.

    • +1

I use the Piston 3s (the normal one, not dazzle/youth) for bike riding although they are noise cancelling so it will block out a majority of outside noise incl highways making them slightly dangerous. I originally bought them thinking they were normal earbuds

Quality is pretty good, its plastic for the earbuds themselves but the cable is braided & quite tough. Never worn out earbuds before though so I can't claim durability

  • +1

    Great deal, thanks :)

  • Never bought this brand, any good?
And would the mic work on my oneplus one?

  • +13

Apparently these earphones have 'Grammy Recording Master Tuning'. Such a sophiscated, yet innovative feature that I think everyone should appreciate.

  • How is the reputation of tinydeal?

    • I've only ordered one item from them and it arrived pretty fast from the Netherlands in good condition (The company is based in Hong Kong but ship from all over the world)

I have heard some people complain about the quality of their products though and lack of communication when something goes wrong, but I haven't encountered an issue yet.

  • From what I hear, this brand competes with Sacred Sound Audio for the "Cheap but decent" earphones.

Although I think Sacred Sound went belly up. Ordered a couple of pairs of phones from them a few weeks back which never arrived, their website is down and they're ignoring all communications, so it looks like these ones will take the lead now.

    • +7

And just after I say that, the earphones arrive from Sacred Sound Audio, 3 weeks after being shipping from Victoria.

  • +1

I've got a pair of Piston 3's and I don't miss by old Sennheiser's one bit.
Fantastic headphones for the price. Don't see why these would be any different

  • These look like Piston 3's but are called something else. Are these fakes?
I have Piston 3's at my office. I would like another for home.

    • +4

Youth edition and dazzle edition are the cheap version of the Piston 3's. Inferior build and sound quality.

      • Thank you!
I'm hanging out for another Piston 3 deal.

        • The Piston range is discontinued by Xiaomi and have been replaced by the Xiaomi Hybrid's.

        • @Clear: Damn, really? Just when I wanted to get some Piston 3…

        • @ProjectZero: That means they'll become cheaper as stores try to clear out stock.

        • +1

@Clear: Just found some Xiaomi Hybrids on sale at Gearbest… not too sure if I should jump considering the following…

It's gearbest and OzB'ers don't seem to have very good experience with them just from a quick search

It's roughly $5 dearer than the piston 3 when they were on sale.

        • +6

@ProjectZero: Personally I'd avoid Gearbest. Ozbargain won't publish their deals any more due to issues.

I've only ordered one item from them. Ordered it and forgot about it. It wasn't until I saw people complaining about Gearbest in the forum that I remembered 5 months after I ordered it. Everyone advised to just get a Paypal refund but I contacted Gearbest and they offered to send the item again. The item arrived 1 month later.

        • -1

          @Clear:

Hybrids are not worth it though

        • +5

          @ProjectZero:
I ordered an item from Gearbest as 2015 Father's Day present, but arrived as 2015 X'mas present.

        • +1

          @ProjectZero:

          Stay away from Gearbest.

They have the worst shipping time ever..

          ie. Never arrives

        • +1

Hey mate, I lost my pair of Piston 3's while i was overseas, but managed to find them on MUSHTATO the other day for a cheap price ( came down to $25ish).

          http://www.mushtato.com.au/xiaomi-mi-all-new-piston-3-0-earp…

          Hope this helps!

        • +1

If you're happy to buy tinydeal (rather than Gearbest or Mushato) then I saw you can get the original piston 3s for around $19.

          http://www.tinydeal.com/simplified-package-xiaomi-piston-3rd…

          http://www.tinydeal.com/upgrade-genuine-xiaomi-piston-3rd-ge…

I don't know how much better they sound than the dazzles though. Does anybody have both and care to comment?

        • @gomango:

what is difference between the two links?

        • @tyler.durden: I would assume one has buttons that worth with and iPhone and the other has buttons that would work with Android devices (Smartphone Tablet).

      • Hmmm they are similar build.. Apparently one of the main difference is the more expensive version is gold plated where as the cheap versions are not.

There is also the shape of the cabling used and the controller style is different, and the shape of the housing.

  • Got one, thanks.

  • Any guesses what the free item is?

  • I've their Piston 3.

Basically spent 20 for them, and its well spent.

I won't be going with the low end Sony's anymore.

This is coming from me, and I'm very sceptical of Chinese "goods".

How are they compared to the Pistons?

  • -2

Guys, I think Tiny Deal's definition of BOGOF is wrong. If you buy these you get "Anti Crack TPU Cable Protector"

    http://www.tinydeal.com/2-pcs-anti-crack-cable-protector-org…

    Scroll down to "Product Features"

I was looking at the other BOGOF items and couldn't believe they were doing BOGOF Redmi Notes etc.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • +3

Was about to say the same thing. But the title says buy 1 get 1 free "item". Technically right but a bit misleading

    • Does it say BOGOF elsewhere? It doesn't seem to say that anywhere on the page linked, but it does say "You’ll get a EPA-489453 for free if you make your purchase before February 15th." Which links to the cable protector that you've linked.

Title of the deal is misleading/misinformed.

      • +3

I have changed it.I think it reads much better now. Hope this helps. Cheers.

  • Guys,

Is this better than below:Xiaomi Piston III Dazzle

    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Original-Xiaomi-Piston-III-Da…

    • +3

I think they are the same.

      • +2

        They are.

        • They're

        • @inose: There

  • +2

Buy One Get One Free item page.

Tiny Deal's use of BOGOF is definitely misleading, maybe just lost in translation. They mean, buy an item, get a different item for free.

  • I open the link with my phone and the price is $4.51?

    • That's in US dollars :)

      • +1

Oh thanks, i am new to this website.

  • +1

I bought one. $6.52 is cheaper than any other name brand that I can find. In the sub $30 bracket, don't expect stellar performance.

  • When it states that its a "sport earphones" does it imply it has some sweat/water resistant quality to it?
Thats the deal breaker for me, otherwise i guess its cheap enough to buy one anyway.

  • +1

    Thanks 2 pairs for me
    Flat cables for the win.

  • How would these compare to, say, stock Apple iPod earbuds?

    • +1

      Hopefully that was a joke.

      • No, why? I'd like some replacements and these might fit the bill.

  • I've got a pair of Sony MDR-EX15APB in ear headphones and the volume is very quiet compared to other earphones I have owned. How do these perform? I'm not sure what to look at in the specs to tell which is louder. Thanks

    • I've never listened to those but if they're your first set of in-ear phones they might be poorly fitted. Make sure you're using the right size tip and really getting them well seated in your ear canals. The tips should sit pretty snuggly in there with a good seal. If you're used to the standard ones that sit outside your ear holes, it might feel a bit weird.

      • +1

No it's not the ear buds I've tried all the sizes and different ear buds on those earphones but it's still really quiet. I think it might have to do with the impedance or sensitivity

  • I have those headphones and I am really happy. So go for it if you need one

  • Anyone have experience with Tiny Deal shipping/processing times?
I'm looking at purchasing a few things and stumping up for DHL delivery (4-7days), but am concerned they may take weeks to actually ship the order.
    Thanks

    • +1

Item I ordered took just under 2 weeks, but I think it depends where they ship from as they ship from locations all over the world depending which item you order.

      • Thanks, I took the plunge anyway, ordered two or these & a couple of (single ear) Stereo Bluetooth 4.0 Earphones with DHL. So will see if they arrive together & how long they take.

  • +1

I'm happy with Tinydeal…I ordered a pair of these headphones on 31 Jan and got the parcel today.

They're well built and have good sound quality.

  • +1

Thanks op, my first xiaomi product. hope it turns out good.

  • Bad first experience with TinyDeal..

Bought a product from recent deal (xiaomi roidmi bluetooth usb), received wrong product..
They havent replied back to replace or refund the product..

  • I didn't get my free item..

    Got the headphones though.

    • I think it's added to the parcel/package not the cart.

      • How to get the FREE item?
        1. Before Feb. 15th, place a successful order of EEP-455477.
        2. The free item will be automatically added to your parcel and shipped together with it.
        3. 100% of orders will get the free item. No coupon necessary.
        4. Expires on 02/15/2016.

        • I met all of that criteria obviously since I already received the package.

Anyway, I mistook the freebie as dust plugs for headphone jack (very useful). Instead it's something I won't use, so no big deal.

      • Wasn't there either.

I don't care anyway, it's not that useful.

  • Ordered x1… such bargain, much excite!

  • Should I purchase this on my 28 Degrees card or would purchasing it on a standard credit card in AUD result in no foreign currency fees charged?

  • Guys, just be aware of lots of fake Xiaomi products on the market, especially Xiaomi Mi Power Bank and Piston headphone

    • Do any of the Xiaomi headphones have volume controls that work with an iPhone?

  • +1

    Ordered. Thanks

  • Tinydeal is rubbish, I will not use them again I would not recommend others to use them.
I placed an order for 2 pairs of these xiaomi earphones, only to have several emails asking me to send them a scan of my passport and a utility bill. I emailed them twice stating that my postal address does not appear on any of my identification and that I don't want to send my personal to them, so they then asked me to log in and pay and extra $2 USD to have the item shipped. This is the second bad experience with this company I have had. Its a shame because the first transaction I had with them was perfect, then downhill from there. I have opened a paypal dispute and requested and email from them.

    • That is terrible. Why in the world they would ask you to pay an extra 2 bucks. Has anyone else had the same experience?

  • +1

…missed out on the freebie but put in an order to try these out. thanks poster!

  • +1

Arrived today, no freebie included but very happy with the headphones themselves as the dound quality and fit is good and they are very comfortable under my helmet and no tangles anymore because of the flat cables

  • Got earphones today (good for the price) but no freebie.

  • Sounds OK for the $, but no free item included.

  • Received 2 headphones.. today no free items so sort of a deal killer.

I guess the lesson is if its not on the order it didn't happen

  • no free item either we got ripped off.

  • Still waiting for mine as of 1/3/16. I am in Perth. Where are the people who have already received theirs located?

Should I contact TinyDeal about it now, or wait a bit longer?

    • The early ones were Brisbane and NSW - mine came on Friday in S.A. The free item isn't there. There aren't as fancily wrapped as the Piston 2s were, but at least they are the real thing. The flat rubberised leads don't give the same sense of durability as the kevlar bound 2's, but on the plus side there is very little chance of cord noise. The single button does pause on short press, and opens Google now search with a long push. It's right up near your chin on the right, so more a microphone with benefits for hand free than the multi-media oriented one on the other models.
For ~ $6, I'm pretty happy even without my bit of spring plastic for a clip. They sound OK even before I give them the overnight white noise run in.

      • Finally received it today.I agree, they sound OK.

  • ordered 18th feb…they finally arrived yesterday afternoon. about 36 days….longest ive waited for anything from anywhere…! :P

will test em on my ride this morning but 1st impressions are reasonable…
