Toy Story & Toy Story 2 Special Editions (Blu-Ray & DVD) BOGOF $25 Delivered for Both Version

210

Amazon UK are currently offering a BOGOF deal on Disney DVDs and Blu-rays. I've just ordered Toy Story & Toy Story 2 special editions (includes both DVD & Blu-ray for each version) for a total of 15.48 GBP delivered which is approx $25 for both.
This price is less than half price compared to the expected Aus price when they are released in May.

  • Essentially a dupe of: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/23511

Edit: although I notice now that one is Amazon.co.uk, and the other is dvd.co.uk, so actually silghtly different! :)

  • +2

    Amazon 19.73GBP delivered
    DVD.co.uk 19.95GBP delivered

    So Amazon is slightly cheaper

    • DVD.CO.UK would have cheaper shipping? being a flat rate of 1 GBP per item though

      • Amazon breakdown for Toy Story 1 & 2
        Items: GBP 28.92
        Promotion Applied: -GBP 14.46
        Postage & Packing: GBP 5.27
        Order Total: GBP 19.73
        Payment Total: AUD 33.69

Don't know the breakdown for DVD.co.uk as you have to add credit card details to get that far. Also depends if they deduct VAT.

        • DVD.co.uk won't remove vat.

          So breakdown is price+£1 :)

          • +1

@Sharp: Yes, can now confirm DVD.co.uk doesn't deduct VAT but has cheaper shipping.

            Sub Total: £17.95
            Shipping: £2.00
            Total: £19.95

This makes Amazon the slightly cheaper option.

            • @sparkles: And more reliable option as DVD.co.uk has no stock of toy story.

Good deal as a package however check out following thing I noticed: I had some of the Disney Blu Rays already sitting in my Amazon UK cart. Check out the price differences since I added them; they have increased the prices quite a bit to offset the "free" one.

"Please note that the price of Monsters, Inc. [Blu-ray] [2001] has increased from £10.99 to £16.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Basket.

Please note that the price of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl [Blu-ray] [2003] has increased from £9.99 to £16.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Basket.

Please note that the price of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest [Blu-ray] [2006] has increased from £9.99 to £16.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Basket.

Please note that the price of Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End [Blu-ray] has increased from £9.99 to £19.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Basket.

Please note that the price of Bolt Combi Pack (Blu-ray + DVD) [2008] has increased from £10.99 to £17.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Basket."

These "deals" aren't really as great as they would have you believe. But yes, still a better deal than buying at rip off prices here for some of these titles, especially the limited release ones like Snow White and Dumbo.

    • But u can now get one more Disney bluray for free. And pay 3 to get 6. It should work out slightly cheaper.

      • I'm not denying that it is still marginally cheaper than before depending on the movie chosen, my main point was that they have increased prices for this promotion ie.Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End has doubled in price so technically it's no better deal now than it was then. The prices will drop back down once the promotion ends.

        • I know but you'll get one more bluray and pay less in total. Try to see the good side of it.

          • @Sharp: I already have, see the positive next to my user name? :D

  • Wish Up was there so I could get that and Wall-e

    • I bought Up paying full price with my toy story orders. You save a bit due to combine shipping.

But I regret not paying in pounds. Amazon's exchange rate is rip off.

      • To be fair, depending on your bank/credit card, they can rip you off with their exchange rate and fees as well :)

But do agree, Amazon's exchange rate is always a couple of cents off the actual exchange rate (even the bank exchange rates, with their profits already included)

  • I prefer Amazon.co.uk to pretty much all the UK stores. Their return and replacement policy is superb, if things do go missing or if they send you the wrong item (last time I received a Blu-ray with a damaged case, they sent me a replacement right away and told me I could keep the damaged one since it would cost too much to send it back to them). Plus with the VAT being removed, prices can be better as well (I just got 6 movies as part of this deal and paid around $16.50 for each with shipping).

The only problem I can see is that some of the combo packs (Toy Story, Snow White) may contain only the region 2 DVD, as opposed to both region 2 and 4. I've bought the UK Bolt Blu-ray combo pack before and it did come with a region 2 and 4 encoded DVD, so I'm hoping that this is the case for Toy Story and Snow White as well.

  • crap i just bought it. way to go and bonus that bluray is region B which is Aust. The dvds will most likely be region UK but most players are region free anyway.

    • the dvd from the Cars combo I bought from amazon.uk happened to be region 4. but other combos I bought from them only had region 2 dvds in them. So fingers cross for toy stories :)

  • PRICE HAS JUST BEEN REDUCED!!!

I was contemplating buying it.. then went back to my amazon basket and they are now listed as 12 pounds each.

My total including shipping was $25 for both!!! Very good bargain.

Hmmm when I go to check out it says there is "We're sorry. The quantity that you requested is no longer available. The number to the right is the maximum quantity currently available. ".

I'd ask for 1 copy of the Blu-ray in question, and it sets it to 0 ;(

    • I emailed Amazon.UK after trying to order Toy Story 1 & 2 on blu-ray, their response was

I’m sorry to hear that you have been unable to complete your transaction.

I have checked your shopping basket and can confirm that you are trying to place your order the following items with Amazon's Preferred Merchant, Indigostarfish.com.

      • Toy Story Combi Pack (Blu-ray + DVD) [1995]
      • Toy Story 2 Combi Pack (Blu-ray + DVD) [1999]

Amazon's Preferred Merchant, Indigostarfish.com, is a Jersey-based merchant offering to supply goods to UK customers exclusive of VAT, via the Amazon.co.uk website. Items will be supplied by way of personal import and ownership of the Goods will transfer to you on dispatch of the Goods from Jersey. If you order an item that is messaged as "Items for dispatch to UK will be sold by Amazon's Preferred Merchant." for delivery to an address within the UK you are placing your order with Indigostarfish.com and your item will be shipped from Jersey. Indigostarfish.com orders can only be delivered to UK addresses (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and all BFPO addresses).

      • So I ask has anyone from Australia successfully placed an order for Toy Story 1 & 2 on blu-ray?????

        • Yeah looks like I got lucky. My order is 'prepared for shipment' status and cc has been charged $25ish.

Amazon itself is now out of stock of Toy Story 2 and you can only buy from other sellers so I guess deal is dead.

      • That's strange as I have ordered from the preferred merchant Indigostarfish via Amazon UK before and it was fine. Just placed (and cancelled) a test order from them of another preferred merchant Blu Ray and it worked fine shipping to Australia. Then placed (and cancelled) an order of 2 copies of Toy Story 2 Blu Ray (Toy Story 1 was unavailable) with delivery to my old UK address and it processed fine. Seems like this rule is applying only to certain products.

  • Expired, both Toy stories unavailable now

    • Front screen states instock for both Toy Story movies, but you get an error message once you reach the final confirmation. Still, ordered Snow White and Dumbo for $26 delivered. :)

Annoying! but still a great deal!

  • Sharp, did you say buy two items get one free?
