        • I use phone/computer for streaming services to whiz over to my telly

      • I dont have Stan but yes to Plex! I use chromecast 1 for that purpose.

      • Thanks. I ended up getting on yesterday. Works great with my Stan and Plex. Hopefully Plex will work great from my hotel next week (IE my uploads can handle the bandwidth).

As an FYI for first time purchasers of the Australian model, the box came with only the BLACK one (online I see many colour options so maybe that is a separate thing) and I got not just a USB cable but a small Australian power plug as well. The USB cable can be removed from the power plug (like the iPhone ones) if your TV can provide enough power to the unit through it's own USB ports.

Works great from my iPhone 6s+ and I was pleasantly surprised that I could use my iPhone while 'casting' I thought that it would hog my iPhone up. Also, once I had set up the internet WIFI connection to my ChromeCast 2, my Plex and Stan just directly connected to their respective sources and so I could effectively turn my phone off and still watch my shows. IE. my phone was not being drained of battery life when watching my shows. The power off test was to see it there was any connection.

Overall I would judge it as definite purchase if you already do not have one.

So pretty much normal price. Saving $4 is not worth the effort in asking for a price beat.

Hold off everyone until its around $45

I read the post as 2 for $59 and went woot!

$60 is starting to get expensive for a device that is purely an audio/video receiver; although not on sale at the moment the Nexus Player itself has been as low as $90 - having a dedicated device (which can also run apps locally) is a lot more convenient and powerful.

  • Bought one yesterday from Bing Lee for $55 without asking for a price match. Works a beaut.

  • Officeworks is selling this at $58 now. May be the OW pricematch reference in the title needs to be removed?
