        The saliva secretions makes the mouth acidic and helps in digestion and breakdown of the food in mouth. I think he also meant that it breaks down the food stuck between the teeth too.

      Sugar substitutes, particularly maltitose (also lycasin), xylitol and sorbitol usually have laxative effects. The strength of laxation differs from person to person and can be particularly severe to those who have a low tolerance threshold to it, strong enough that they immediately have to stop what they're doing and run off before Mt Vesuvius erupts.

      Have you ever heard of the song Chocolate Rain? Try sing it while in the bathroom next time..

    I think that has sorbitol and xylitol as a sweetening combo and likely the sorbitol would be the offender there
