    • probably, but it's still a bargain - cheap petrol on a Sunday. Some people need to fill up on Sunday… returning from a weekend trip so gotta fill up for Monday morning, etc.

And prices don't fluctuate so wildly everywhere.

  • So whats the price?? i might go check it out soon…

    • +3

Well thats gay. Just called up to see what the price is and they cant give that information to me?? :|

      wth

      Edit*

Called a shop next to the place.

Currently, Unleaded fuel is 135.9 / Litire. Add on 14 cents for V power I think it is, and then take away the 10 cent discount and its a crap deal. I paied 1.20 for petrol on the cheap day, so its cheaper then!!

"Called a shop next to the place."

        Hahahaha love it.

      • lol cant believe you made a effort for this.

      • Wow man you're unreal, hahaha. I'm surprised you didn't call Caltex to get them to price match the voucher.

I went to my local coles express today, paid 146.9C per litre for vpower, minus the 10c voucher and 4c docket, so it's 132.9c per litre, it is not cheap at all compare with the price paid on normal wednesday price. Please consider the price before you fill up.

    • This works out to what I would typically pay on a Wednesday anyway. I needed petrol today so it worked out great for me, Wednesday prices on a Sunday.

    • Re Couger…>>"…so it’s 132.9c per litre"
Thought this would be the case so I filled up on Thursday and paid $1.17lt for my regular undleaded after 4c coupon.
These blokes do not give away anything.
Expect to see more of these offers after the response they got from this one. Offer a 10c discount and jack up the price 15c or so… come onnnn!!!

  • yeah i don't see this as a bargain because you are filling up on sunday which is an expensive day compared to weds/thursday which it would be the same price anyway..

    • +3

what if your tank was on E and you needed to fill up today? You're getting cheap-day prices on an expensive day.

If someone gave you a discount movie ticket for $6 movies on a weekend, would you say that's not a bargain at all cos you can just go on cheap Tuesday for the same price?

      • -3

i'd be smart and buy it first on a cheap day, i don't waste fuel to have to empty by the time it comes on sunday so it would only apply unless i was coming from a long drive or something..

movie is different, of course i'd take it because you rather watch it on a weekend than weekday, i don't have a choice when its cheap fuel so you have to take it on wednesday/thursday and its a routinee

Sure, in your own personal circumstance, that's the way to go. But that doesn't mean the deal isn't good. So many people forget what a negative vote is for. Cheap petrol on an expensive day is a good deal even if you don't buy petrol on that day. It's not a bad deal just because you don't need to buy petrol on a Sunday. Some people drive more kms, or more irregularly than you. :)

@eug: Its not cheap petrol thou.. still expensive..

Today was 135.9. (unleaded). I fill up for 120 on cheap days. Thats 16 cents mark up. This discount is for 10 cents only. There is still a 6 cents markup which you can fill with their other offers, but not everyone shops at coles to get their vouchers etc..

            Still a negitive..

Im also annoyed the refused to tell petrol price over the phone…rude

            • +3

@massari: True.. it's not cheap petrol. But the point is, it's much cheaper than regular prices for today. It's a great deal for people who need to fill up today. Those who can wait till Wed/Thurs are definitely much better off waiting till then, but that doesn't help anyone who needs to fill up today.

They probably don't tell prices over the phone cos if they did, I bet everyone would be ringing up all the time to find out.. it'll probably drive them mad! ahah

@eug: eug, just give up mate. Logic has no place around here sometimes.

      • Great attitude to this bargain.

I dont remember seeing this offer on any of my daily OzBargain update emails

Anyway, with my Coles docket I get 4c/L off, another 4c/L with my Coles Source Mastercard voucher, and if I spend $2 in shop, I get another 2c/L off …… so with this 10c/L voucher comes to 20c/L off !!!!

  • Most of the comments here are using Unleaded prices to compare, I don't think many actually use V-Power on a regular basis to notice how expensive it is normally.

Nevertheless, for my area - it was still cheaper than on a Tues/Wed.

    • But V-Power is more than unleaded by a constant figure 13c or 14c (I think it's 14c at my one), as opposed to being say, 10% more than Unleaded. So using the Unleaded prices, or even E10 for that matter is fine. And saying that the price is 15c less on a Wed is also fine, because that would mean V-Power would also be 15c less.

  • 129.9c/l for unleaded today at the one near me. I didn't pump. If it's 119.9c/L unleaded or less on Wed/Thurs then I'll be happpy.

  • I missed out, cause when i was driving home from tennis at about 9:57pm, my local Shell was closed.

Oh well, it wasn't going to be a big saving by the sounds of it. Especially seeing as i use E10 usually anyway.

  • I paid roughly $1.30/L for V-Power, quite expensive but the cheapest I can recall V-Power being. It was about $1.46 less 10c voucher less 4c shopping voucher less 2c spend in store.

My tank was on empty and even discounted E10/ULP was between $1.22-1.25.

V-Power doesn't make much of difference in my car but I've been told there are additives that can help cleanse your fuel lines. I like to use PULP once in a while and this was a good opportunity for me.

man you people are crazy… why are you comparing spending 2 bux in shop, 4 cent fuel voucher, 4 cents for your credit card AND the 10 cents off to a cheaper day price….

what you need to compare it to is buying it on a cheap day its 14-16 cents cheaper, THEN spend 2 bux in shop, use your 4 cent fuel voucher, get your 4 cents for a using there credit card or whatever,

guess what ends up happening… its still cheaper than getting fuel using a 10cent off voucher on the sunday promo…

for those who said use this voucher to show there is interest in it and to get the servos to do it again, com'on did you REALLY think about it?

all your showing them is that people will eat anything you feed them… IE put the price of fuel up reduce it a little to make them feel like they got a bargain and they will walk away happy, meanwhile shell sold a lot of extra fuel that they wouldn't have normally sold at quite a profit.

what you SHOULD be doing is boycotting them for putting out such a shoddy deal… specially on the Sunday!

pretty sad to see people basic lack of common sense.

as many people have said, this voucher is ONLY good if you HAD to fill up on a Sunday/where going to anyway, and where intending to fill with VPOWER anyway! unless your cars tuned for it your probably not going to notice the difference anyway!

  • This is such a dodgy deal. Just to further emphasize how crap this deal was, today is Tuesday, and petrol is available at these coles store for 125.9. This was 135.9 On Sunday, and 128.9 on Monday. Just goes to show how they marked up the price, and how CRAP this deal is.!!!!!!

    sigh

    • Petrol always costs more on the weekend, regardless of the existence of this deal.

This deal lets you buy petrol for 10c less than the regular high Sunday price.

      How is this deal crap?

It's petrol prices that are crap. This deal lets you buy crappily-expensive petrol for less money - it's a good deal.

      • eug…. Mate, I thought we told you to just give up - some people just cant see that there is a world outside there own world… No matter what you say or what anyone says about the deal in a positive way, there will still be the people who think it is crap because it doesn't work for them… And that is their opinion and they are entitled to it….

Best just to forget about it because it is now 2 days old :)

Oh and Massari, I enjoyed my icecream thanks… lol… ;)… Nah, just kidding, I don't have a tank 100L or bigger, but I do know people who do and take advantage of it like I explained… :)

ahaha yeah.. i was just bored, i needed to take a break from a late night at work! i'd better unsubscribe now, it's just too easy to click on the link in the thread update email.

          Happy driving!

        • lol

I understand that this deal is good for some peoploe, and its a good rate for that day. But if you wait 1 or even 2 days, you can get that same 'special rate'

          But im over it :D
Glad you enjoyed the ice cream :p

  • All you people who don't see the good side of this deal really need to think with an open mind.

Consider that, not everyone has petrol prices on Sunday which are 20 cents per litre higher than the price on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. I came here on Sunday to post that the price of Unleaded was 129.9c at my local Shell. I was supposed to use this V-Power voucher, but I just simplify forgot. I intendeed to use this voucher because I didn't believe the price on Wednesday would be less than 119.9c (10c difference) for Unleaded. Why am I quoting Unleaded prices and not V-Power? Because V-Power is always the price of Unleaded +14c at my Shell, so it doesn't matter which one I use because it'll end up being the same for comparisons, and Unleaded is the price displayed on the street so it's easier to quote that price.

Today, Wednesday, the price was 122.9c/L for Unleaded, which is only 7c less than the price it was on Sunday. That means for me, the deal would have worked very well. Yes, you may say 3c/L is not much and the truth is it isn't much, but all I'm saying is that this proves that this deal is NOT A BAD DEAL at all. Personally, most of the Shells around my area (not just my local one) don't seem to have prices fluctuating 15c from Sunday to Wednesday. Maybe between Thursday/Friday of the previous week to the Wednesday/Thursday morning of the following week it would ALMOST fluctuate 15c, but that is 15c/L at MAX. This price fluctuation of 7c/L between Sunday and Wednesday is quite standard. They did NOT jack up the prices for petrol on Sunday to accommodate for any potential losses by people using this voucher.

Not to mention, if I went on Sunday, I would probably not have had to line-up for petrol as long. I believe this would apply for most people, seeing as most people are well aware that Tuesday-Thursdays are the cheapest days, and those who pump on Sunday mostly do it out of necessity. Wednesday petrol lines always seem to be long until after 10:30pm. Not too sure about Sundays.

In conclusion, this was definitely not a bad deal. If it wasn't good for you, tough luck. Just realise that not everyone lives where YOU live. Realise that not everyone can wait until Wednesday to pump. If you could vote things negative just for these reasons, then I guess we can negative all those deals for those cheap hard drives in Perth (forgot what store it was but they seem to pop up periodically). They aren't bad deals, but they don't work for many of us because many of us don't live in Perth and have to pay expensive delivery. Does not make it a bad deal.

    • +2

wow, who could be bothered reading all that?

  • bottom line should be use it if you otherwise have to fill up on sunday, but otherwise dont necessarily fill up on sunday just to use it.

edit: and i should stop getting deals mixed up, thought this was april 18 one!
